What is your Switch travel case solution (if any)?

Real Design from Japan, bought from local store here in Hawaii. Zelda Limited case fits perfectly inside

I just impulse bought the Nintendo switch Keten hard case because it was discounted from 30 to just 8 euros and it seems to have a lot of storage in a very compact form factor.

Has anybody else bought it? Is it good?

I was going to buy a case like the ardistel ones which fit the switch with the joycons attached to its sides but, because my joycons are very slightly wobbly, I'm afraid that a drop or somebody sitting on top of the case with the joycons attached might damage the rails and increase the wobbliness. I also think that the cases with the joycons detached will feel smaller and easier to find space for it in any kind of bag. What do you guys think?

I should receive it in Thursday, I will let you guys know if it's any good.

For 8 bucks I would've jumped too. Damn. I have read that with similar cases you want to play around a little with the pockets and spaces, a lot of people chuck the joycon holding pockets.

Yeah, i think the joycon holders lose quite a bit of space so I'm thinking i might keep my joycons on an old pouch I have that fits them snuggly and then i might have created enough space to have the AC adapter fit in the case too.

I went with this in Brown

It looks like it will is a little more versatile that the keyboard bag, can hold everything you need, and has some cushioning inside. Couple of reasons I went with the bigger one is that I can put my charger, phone, joycons the entire switch & pro con in there, and throw it in a backpack or bag and travel with it. On to of that the middle pocket fully opens and folds out flat for easy access.
Can you take some pictures?

I will tonight. I plan on giving this thing the full deal. Will put everything I can in and see how well it fits in to my work laptop backpack.

Will also be testing out the charger and cable I bought.

Hopefully I will be putting on the amfilm I got too. So overall a busy night securing my new toy!

So... a case for your case for your Switch?

It's not a case, it's a bag that I can sling around my shoulder. Forgot to include the shoulder strap in the pic. It's not exactly convienient to just carry the Zelda case by itself around but why not use it as extra protection when I put it in my bag.

What's the most recommend case that has the slimmest profile for a simple outing? So, pretty much just the console itself and the cons.

The Hori one looks very slim and simple. I'm keeping my order for that so I can use it at home. The RDS will be for outside travel.

I had originally purchased the slimmer Nintendo case, but haven't been using it because it is so small. I wanted something where I could carry a USB-C Cable, and possible extra Joycons, but even the cable is too big for this (if anyone wants my slim DM me).

I got the larger Mario PDP one at my local Walmart for $25. I really like it, it is very similar to the Sheikah slate case (almost identical inside), and hold for me 2 rails, charge cable, headphones, cleaning cloth, and could definitely fit extra joycons.

A bit OT but since we care about protecting our Switches, anyone bought one of those Dock cozies on Etsy? If you got a good one, feel free to recommend which store you got it from. There's a ton.

I'm torn, I'm interested in both the Hori and the RDS case. I see good and bad for both on here.

Edit: went with the RDS as it is in stock on the Nintendo store and the positive reception it has here. Can't seem to find these in Canada though other than online it seems.

I've had the Hori case since launch but I wasn't confident throwing it in my laptop bag. It moved around a little bit from side to side. Will keep that one for carrying around the house and I ordered the one on the Nintendo store (RDS) for traveling.

Still waiting for my Orzly case from Amazon UK seller G-Hub who have now achieved terrible service and avoid at all costs status. They said it was in stock when i ordered, even had the dispatch email yet nothing so far.

I'm sure they just lie about stock and dispatch, I'll never buy from them again. Two items out of two they have pissed about with now.

AVOID G-HUB!

I am also from Canada and had the RDS case on order from Amazon.com but as soon as it went up on Nintendo Canada online store, I ordered one. So now instead of waiting till April to get it, it's on it's way to me.

Should I get the basic black RDS case or will the Zelda themed ones work?

Amazon has some RDS for $43 but zelda's are $20, not sure why the price disparity if its the same case design?

I'm about to buy one now, 7 left on Amazon for the basic black

Amazon Link

EDIT: Never mind, someone linked that Nintendo Shop website with all available RDS cases at $20 each, thanks!

One is sold by Amazon and the other one is not. I'd wait to get the RDS black case at its regular price once it's back in stock on Amazon or check out a different retailer.

You're overpaying at 43 dollars, by a lot.

Yeah, I just noticed and ordered the same one directly from Nintendo Store just now

Messaged G-Hub today about the lack of delivery of my Orzly case. They replied, apologized and are now sending another one via DPD. Nice that they are sorting it, but never buying from them again. Dreadful seller.

I got the Keys Factory Hard Case in the mail the other day. Here's some impressions and pictures.

First, the case is a pretty lean solution. There's not a lot of excess to it and the presentation is basic, so that's a subjectively good or bad thing. I usually prefer simple cases, so that suits me just fine. The materials used inside and out are a little on the skimpy side, in my honest opinion. I would have preferred more padding on the soft lining fabric inside where the switch sits, and a little more thickness to the hard shell. It's not otterbox stuff but it's not completely wimpy either. It's somewhere in between, I'd say.

There's a soft-lined divider flap to separate the Switch with joycons attached from whatever you put in the pouch on the other side. The divider is just a loose flap, no way to secure it, but it seems fitted and tight enough. When you place the Switch inside and zip it all up, it doesn't jostle around much, but there is a little bit of breathing room. Sticks seem protected enough but hard to know for sure without taking it for a trip.

The pouch is pretty meager. Not much is going to fit in there. I'd say the JoyCon strap attachments, a USB-C cable and a charger. Maybe you could squeeze a game card case in there. Definitely loose games would fit with all that other stuff, no problem. I tested extra JoyCons and that seems ill-advised or a forced-fit. Mainly, it doesn't close well without forcing it zipped. Additionally, the sticks receive pressure from the netting. This is definitely more of a one player travel solution (or two using the main pair of system JoyCons).

All in all, it's a decent solution without much tacky branding (just a white Switch logo on the top) but probably not worth the extra dollars to import ship. I paid $25, but if you're paying over $25-$30, you can probably find something similar without that import tax in a store or online shop that will ship free.

Hi guys, I received my Keten switch case which cost me only 8 euros (although now it's at 15! Phew!) and, for that price specially, I have very little to complain about. Actually, I would've paid more than 20 bucks for it.

Its not the prettiest but it's pretty much what I was looking for: a compact and sturdy case without the need to store it with JoyCon controllers attached (I'm really afraid of somebody sitting on it accidentally and breaking the rail). Also a case that would allow me to avoid using the switch's kickstand (mine is really really hard to take out).
Only problem is that the original charger, even though it actually fits, it makes everything too tight and I think could result in screen damage so I won't be doing that. With a smaller adapter it could work, though, which is crazy seeing how small this thing is.

Here you can check an album of pictures with some silly comments.

Hey everyone! I finally got this edited and published, sorry it took me way longer than I had planned. I call this the Nintendo Switch Case-Off!

I compare the Official case, the HORI Tough Pouch, PDP Case, RDS case, and the PDP Backpack. Hope this helps some of y'all make a choice! :)

Pretty sure the lower indentation on the RDS case is so that the rear vents have room for a bit of heat to escape a bit if you put a system in there after a prolonged gameplay sesh.

Well done, sir. I had been wondering myself, and this makes too much sense. :)

Nice vid, thanks! Looks like I made the right choice.

Woot! FYI, I found this out the hard way yesterday, the joycons are friggin FRAGILE. My Switch (in the RDS case) got knocked off a table maybe 3ft and in the process the left joycon damaged its connector and can now pop off with minimal force like in the Giant Bomb video. This was in a fully cased and zipped up RDS case. So if even that thing can't protect the joycons from a short fall, nothing else will (other than a hardcore, padded pelican case maybe). The combo of metal and plastic in the Switch is just a recipe for easy damage. I learned my lesson. I still think the RDS is the best case by far, but damn these joycons are fragile.

My Orzly case came today and for the price it's really nice. It's tough, plenty of room for accessories and the cutouts in the bottom give ample clearance for the triggers. The elastic straps keep the Switch in place as well. Really pleased with it.

Edit: Some pictures...

That's why I decided to go with a case that doesn't keep the JoyCon controllers attached to the system. The rail connection is obviously the weakest point in the system (as it should be) so I think keeping them detached when traveling is the safest way to go imo.

Anyone's RDS case seem warped on the inside?

If I put my Switch in it, and then press my finger down on each of the 4 corners, 3 seem stable, while pressing the bottom-right corner causes the rest of the unit to lift up, like it is not actually sitting on any material in that corner.

Thanks for your images/info. I think I might get this case, even though I already have the RDS case.

I have been playing mostly docked and tabletop, not much handheld, since I take it to work mostly for the multiplayer and like split joycons too.

It would be nice to just leave the straps on the joycons all the time and just leave them in the bag when I get home, just docking the unit itself and using my pro controller.

I'm curious, when you open the case, which side acts as the lid and which the bottom?

Trying to keep my Skeikah Slate case in good condition, so I ordered the Butterfox revised case (blue), and considering getting the RDS case too. I was considering getting a PDP starter kit since that (every style but black) and the Sheikah Slate are the same internal design.

Anybody have any insightful comparisons, PDP vs. RDS vs. Butterfox?

The only problem with that is you have to disconnect the Joycons every time you pack the Switch, then reconnect every time you unpack. I would find that annoying, personally.

It actually is, if playing portable.

I have both types, and the joycons off one is great because of the smaller footprint, it fits better in a bag etc. But when I wanted to play on the bus, I had to take three parts out and connect them, and the reverse to pack up. It was great for tabletop mode at work however.

I have the RDS case as well, so maybe I can pick which case based on the scenario.
