I remember a year ago when the Patreon launched.

I said on this forum "I really hope they are able to crack 10k a month"

If you said to me they would be pulling in 40k a month, I would have slapped you silly.

It would be cool if Damiani could get Tim Gettys as a Nintendo podcast guest
was my first thought as well! Bridge those city borders and make it happen :)

My dream is still a Kyle Bosman x KF collab in some way. E.g. Greg Miller and Kyle 1on1 interview style, but I now, just dreamin'. #bestfriends #loveandrespect

With Destiny 2 being a thing I shall raise a toast for good old Matt Blair. May he find good loot wherever he is.
So in one of the streams I don't remember what Jones was explaining what the sound booth was and Matt Blair I believe was the person at Viacom who called him and said it's available for him to pick it up if he wanted it.

From the L&R Podcast? I don't think that's what the conversation was.

Wasn't it about visuals and how certain devs need power to sufficiently do what they want to do with thier games?

E.G. Good luck getting RDR2 or GTA6 to run on a Switch, let alone at 20 FPS.

That question felt a bit out of time as well. Bringing up Ryse and Order years later when a game like Horizon just came out which is both a graphical monster and did extremely well critically and commercially.

The point about Rockstar was Damiani said they would never sacrifice their scope or vision for poorer hardware and graphics, when they skipped PC at launch for GTAIV & V, RDR has never been released on PC and all their console games have terrible framerates.

Yes yes yes.

Edit: About Chopin, these casuals don't even need to know history. They're supposed to be JRPG masters and yet if they were, they surely would have played Eternal Sonata and known what was up, or that his outfit was available in Vesperia as an alt costume. Pffft dropping my pledge right now.

You're a treat Damiani. Thanks for the lengthy post (I had no idea there was any sort of controversy or criticism going on but I appreciate you stopping by nonetheless).

The question was about pushing graphics vs. the quality of game. Rockstar has traditionally pushed the envelope with the scope and graphical prowess of their games, which would be limited quite a bit on a weaker console like the Switch.

Damiani mentioned that certain devs like Rockstar have a vision to deliver a certain level of fidelity, which was a counterpoint to "why don't devs just focus on making good games?"

His point seemed to be that some devs focus on creating game experiences that require a certain level of hardware to push a vsriety of other factors that are a part of a game. Framerate can be a factor but is not a necessary element. When Rockstar makes GTA6, it might run poorly on PS4/XB1 but it'll be because Rockstar is pushing a certain level of fidelity across the entire game. That's how they operate. And something like that isn't really possible with the weaker hardware of the Switch.

And again, that question is like 3 years late imo.

Set this as a Patreon stretch goal for a new show and you have more of my money.

I don't know what it is and what is going on but I know I like it.

I just love how cool Don is whilst Ben makes a something-or-other of his self. Actually is it Huber? I cannot tell properly.

It's Huber

I miss Mandatory Update so much... :( It was one of my favorite shows.

RIP Elyse.

Yeah, a show like Mandatory Update would fit in really well with the current EZA schedule but it's just too much production/writing work. I remember towards the end of GT with the studios moving etc. , Elyse and Ian were both struggling to get legit "News Report" style episodes out.

just finsihed watching the podcast

Damiani was on fire there, I loved it, I agreed with all he said, amazing discussion all around.

I truly loved the trailer conversation, it is one of the things I miss most from GT days, they are passionate about game, but among kyle and jones, trailers have a special place and here it really shows.

Guess Ben needs to ice his Xenoblade playthrough and catch up on Eternal Sonata now :-x

I loved that game a lot.
The graphics where unreal of that kind of games imho, and while the story wasn't anything geoundbreaking, it had a nice theme to it. Or to better say, Chopin was one badass tragic character.
Oh, and the combat was pretty addicting.

You have no idea how much money I'd put in a resurrection of the Mandatory Update format alongside a bi-weekly Bosman editorial.

Probably a whole 5$! Tax included.
No but I really want it. Looking forward the new shows regardless.
