So, let me summarize the defense force here.

Defense force: People should be able to do and say whatever they want without consequences.

Response: So a developer getting rid of someone for their racist views is fine?

Defense force: ABSOLUTELY NOT THEY SHOULD BE FORCED TO KEEP IT

It always boils down to a double standard for these types. They want to say and do whatever, and others aren't allowed to unless they agree with all their ideology.
In this thread on the official forums people are already making accounts to come to Jon's defense. "He didn't mean it, he's funny and I like him so I'll defend to the death his rights to "get political" but shame on Playtonic, don't they know to stay out of politics?!"
Well, what's good for the goose is good for the gander. You can say whatever you want, but don't be surprised when people exercise their own rights and you run up against consequences.

What is this nonsense lol

The answer is obviously yes, all of these people should be fired. They're literally not doing there job properly and will ruin the reputation of their employer in every case.

"Here's a dilemma: Would you fire a chef just because they refuse to ever cook food?"

Jon was brought into this project largely for his visibility and reach. Once he became an unlikable racist, he ceased the ability to do the job he was brought in to do and became a completely liability.

I'm saddened by how many young people in this country have no idea what the heck the 1st Amendment means. Free to speak, not free from consequences. Our education system sucks.

I don't really care if Jon is a Nazi or not. He's expressed that whites are superior to blacks and that the white race should remain pure by keeping other races out. The only thing he could say that's worse on the racism scale is if he started proposing methods to deal with these "issues", but he doesn't have to take the risk of doing that, because we've already got politicians who are taking that initiative.

Does anyone know the extent of his voice actor role? Did he actually have some lines or was it just jumbled sounds Banjo-Kazooie style? I was curious how much work Playtonic has to do to replace his voice part

#racistjobsmatter No they don't. And no it isn't. Being a racist POS clinging to old as hell ideology that is based on nothing but irrational thought should be something holding you from a job, because on the other side of the coin, just having a non-traditional name let alone different skin color can exempt somebody from a job.

Having irrational or loathsome thoughts does not strip away a person's human status. I can understand a company not wanting to associate with Jon, but to bar people from the job market altogether? Their ideas are abhorrent but what you're proposing here is stripping away some of their human status as a result of their expressing views you hate. What would you propose? We put a mark on their permanent records that automatically excludes them from any and all job opportunities? Your other side of the coin argument is sad and unfortunately very true, but I'd prefer to fight that inequality to stripping away rights out of a sense of revenge. Your solution would be diametrically opposed to why I fight bigotry and racism in the first place.

Most of the defense force are either:
-Kids with no job or understanding of how the 1st amendment works.
-Adults with jobs but wouldn't even dare to say the shit Jontron's been saying.

They're either ignorant, cowards with shitty views, or both.

BUT HIS FREE SPEECH!

At this point I wouldn't risk it, assume all youtubers are scum, safer that way.

I know you're paranoid, but that's a similar brush you're painting there. JonTron's definitely pretty bad, but considering a lot of his youtuber friends have stopped talking to him (Arin from GameGrumps, PBG calling him out, etc.), I'd like to think that there are many good youtubers out there as well, as with everything.

You can't be a bigot against racists holy shit lol. Their ideas are abhorrent and they actively harm the rights of minorities every day whether it's subtle things like the way they treat minority customers or the overt things such as kicking them out altogether.

Josh Thomas is a dickhead with shitty opinions, no real surprise there. Witnessed him be an ass for a long time.

Agreed. I mean, I think a ton of his content is terrific and well-polished, but as a consumer I need to decide if that's someone I want to support. That answer is no. Ya know, same with Chris Brown or Azealia Banks (one of my favorite rappers who is supppper problematic and I got pretty turned off by).

I'm sure JonTron's mumbles were superb (lol), but it's our call as consumers as to whether or not we would support that product, we answered "no" and Playtonic made the adjustment.

I think that's free speech doing it's thing. Let people speak their awful opinions so we can make educated decisions as to where we focus our attention and money.

I'm curious how far your ideology goes.

Is it wrong for a daycare worker to fired after he constantly spouts off racist opinions?

Should a Professor teaching a Holocaust course be allowed to keep his job when he denies the Holocaust even happened?

Can a homophobic therapist still have a job after his gay client is recommended to a "Pray away the gay" camp?

Should a teacher who doesn't believe in evolution be allowed to teach a science course about DNA and genes?

Lol wow. The answer to all of those hilariously and poorly chosen hypotheticals is a resounding yes.

Ugh, the GameXplain comment section for their video reporting this news has a whole lot of people screaming about "SJWs" and "the media" and saying that removing JonTron from the game because of his beliefs is intolerant. Why are people so stupid? At least it seems like just about every dumb comment like those has like 10 people coming in saying JonTron is an idiot and Playtonic has every right to do this.

I seriously feel like most people have no clue what the first amendment is.

The first amendment means I can say and do whatever I want wherever and whenever and to whoever for whatever reasons ever right? And if you don't like what I say then you're breaking the law and I can sue you because you said or did something that I don't like.
