Most things are anti white?! Are you kidding me with that?
Man, fuck this Josh guy too.

If you'll pardon the slight deviation:

Literally haven't watched one single video/piece of content from this guy...but are [some] people online actually going out of their way to claim Jon single-handedly helped get Yooka-Laylee the amount of attention it got prior to today? I hope to God that's just hyperbole and not people ignoring...y'know...both the work/effort of Playtonic themselves as well as the ample millions of people who were genuinely interested/excited/happy/curious as to see how a BK spiritual successor would fair in 2017.

I'm trying my best to speak outside of today; I know YouTube is now a pillar for game coverage and PR nowadays, but let's not forget there are consumers, traditionalist press and enthusiast press who are still just as big a part as any one guy with a camera. I think it's at the very least unfair to credit a few (if not one person entirely) as to how/why Yooka-Laylee resonates with so many people.

I'm genuinely asking... but I wonder if being self-emplyeed without a staff or real organizational structure has anything to do with fostering such radical views.

Every day, in little and big ways, my success depends on so many other people and forces me to respect and communicate others. Obviously I don't know nearly enough about JonTron or Josh, but aren't they entirely self-made? Or do they have day jobs?

Not saying AT ALL that all people who work or operate alone have certain characteristics, I'm just wondering if it might be a contributing factor.

I have a close friend in an industry where he works like 3-4 times out of the month so he spends most time alone, especially during the day, and he was telling me about how he thinks it's making him have less of a filter because he's not getting real "practice" and in turn says some inappropriate things. That's where this is stemming from.

Thoughts people?

Hitler's art was boring and pedestrian, he was a shitty artist that inspired no one

now his politics on the other hand definitely inspired a lot of art, but I'm sure every artist would tell you they'd rather not have had the "inspiration" in the first place

Exactly.
Who the fuck was inspired by Hitler's art?

STOP SHITTING ON MY MOTHER'S HEADSTONE
Does it really matter that some guy who does silly noises for a video game and has opinions you find yourself opposed to gets his VO removed from the game?
Yes.

Many people love Disney movies and Walt is no stranger to racism claims, but i don't fault people for liking his films and people arent boycotting Marvel movies because of his views.

Walt Disney died 50 years ago. This shit with JonTron happened like last week. If John Lasseter was coming out and saying racist-ass bullshit today, you bet your ass people would boycott Pixar movies.

Oh and how's the transfer quality on that Blu-Ray copy of Song of the South? Oh right, it doesn't exist, because Disney is willing to leave a little bit of money on the table to not put out racist nonsense.

Being able to separate your personal politics from appreciating someones work on its own merit is important.
This shit is not politics. It's fucking racism.

I find JonTron obnoxious, but the internet mob calling for his head is gross and excessive (also like Jon), even if the things he said were foolish.
Nah. This dude has the attention of millions of people via Youtube. You don't let somebody with that much influence spew racist bullshit without criticism.

I always thought that the controversy didn't affected Jontron too much, i mean, it's more publicity for him at worst.

.... But this is coming from developpers he personally loves, i think that hurt him quite hard... I would like to pity him since i used to love the guy but i hope it will serve as an awakening somehow.

I don't think you can convince people by "logic" at this point, more with "feelings".

Yooka-Laylee isn't the only Kickstarter project to go out of the way to get the blessing of a YouTube type to promote the game and honestly I find most of the fawning in the early stages and the implementation in the final stages pretty gross. That's my two cents on it. It always felt like appealing to the lowest common denominator.

The fact that you have stuff like this or (loose equivalent) the Yogscast guys in Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed DLC doesn't make it really seem like a bright idea, either.

Being honest, I didn't remember Jontron having any involvement in Yooka-Laylee. Now that I know that and that he's gone, i'm looking more forward to this game than I was before.

from the steam forums:
Let me start off by saying, I don't watch jontron and don't know what he said other than it may have been racist. But who cares! That is his opinion. Why can't you devs be open minded and respect other peoples opinions?

being open minded to racism.
this would be funny if it wasn't so sad.

It can be that, but it can just as well be the wrong crowd.

Josh Thomas is a racist fuck, but he's also likely using this to cynically get followers as well, since he's bled dry over the past year or two as he's failed to meet promised content over and over.

This type of follower doesn't care how much effort is put into content, as long as it reinforces their points of view. Ironically, as long as it provides a safe space for them.

I really hope RogersBase and GameXplain cut ties with him now. Pretty sure GX is done with him but Roger has been doing a Switch hype series with him.

Gotta love the "I don't know what he said BUT..." like it makes a difference. Maybe listen to what he said and realize that shit is not okay and should not be an acceptable opinion to have.

In what world is most things anti-white?... Like, a majority of shows are mostly white people, a majority of films star white people, games are mostly white men.

This can't be right. Lemme check the top grossing films so far this year and who they star.

Emma Watson

Hugh Jackman

Will Arnett

Taraji P. Henson

Daniel Kaluuya

James McAvoy

Tom Hiddleston

Ryan Gosling/Emma Stone

Dakota Johnson

Felicity Jones

Geez, two non whites. Maybe there is a white genocide.

Sometimes on TV there are jokes at the expense of white people.

That's enough for some people to see a world that is anti-white.

Josh is pathetic.

Hugh Jackman (australian)

No you're totally right. The game didn't wait for JonTron to be hyped. I was an early backer and didn't know until like yesterday that he voiced a character in it.

Exactly.
Who the fuck was inspired by Hitler's art?

JonTron.

Don't forget, Scarlett Johansson will be in that list next and she's Japanese.

In part sure. These guys have rarely ever had to do serious PR outside of just doing what they do. Some even made it big on not having much of a filter or being brash and I think after a while the act became the person or at least they met in the middle. I've got fucking Asperger's and I think I've got a better handle on things when dealing with others than a lot of these guys do. Its like watching a child get pissed at you for telling them to not stick their hand in a fire or to stop poking a bee's nest.

Racism is not an opinion, racism is not an opinion, racism is not an opinion.

Racism is a belief that one race is superior to another and the foundation of wars and atrocities in mankinds history. It is hate.

Just say you agree with JonTron. If you're gonna defend racists, you're not gonna look any better by prefacing that you aren't actually also a racist.

In the same way that Christians are being persecuted in this country!

Will white people be getting their own film in the similar style of God's Not Dead? I'd watch it for the laughs as a white man has to stand up to his black teacher in African American studies about white genocide.

That's pathetic if you were boycotting it because of JonTron.

Boycotting something because it uses a white supremacist for marketing purposes is pathetic ?
Playtonic did good once they became aware of the kind of person JonTron was, so there are a lot of people happy for that. And many salty, but fuck them.

Hey, I don't agree with JonTron but I just want to say that gas is expensive in Europe.
What? I did say I didn't agree with JonTron, that doesn't mean I have to excuse him in some way after that.

Oh SNAP!

Isn't that already God's Not dead?
Just make a special dub and be done with it.
Call it Whitey's not dead or some shit.

"In general, an opinion is a judgment, viewpoint, or statement that is not conclusive." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opinion

Stating that white people need to defend their majority position of a nation is racism.

"Racism is discrimination and prejudice towards people based on their race or ethnicity." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Racism

Words are hard for some people I guess.

The history of the term anti-white is from white supremacy being fed to many online. Another term of anti-white is white genocide and it's all the belief that minorities are taking over and white people are dying out through mixing races, immigration and so on.

Good analogy haha. And cool of you being open about your Asperger's, definitely helped illustrate a point!

Who is the bitblock dude people keep mentioning? What's he famous for?

It's a shame it has come to this type of thing:

I just hope it doesn't hurt the sales. I know I'll still be buying regardless.

I guess my double dip for the Switch version is now more justified than ever.

I truly hope he learns from all of this. I don't think he has yet, but I hope he does at some point in his life.

Crying like a manchild when Nintendo took his early copy privileges away.

But yeah, he's just a major asshole as Tom pointed out below. Funny too, I used to like him in the past, like years ago, but he just started going a bit nuts after awhile. Like, he had an alter ego thing going on in social media that was kinda creepy if I vaguely recall.

What are you actually trying to get at with this post?

Like, what are you proving?

"Words are hard for some people I guess"? Why are you being flippant and haughty over linguistic semantics? What's your endgame?
