What is your Switch travel case solution (if any)?

Trying to keep my Skeikah Slate case in good condition, so I ordered the Butterfox revised case (blue), and considering getting the RDS case too. I was considering getting a PDP starter kit since that (every style but black) and the Sheikah Slate are the same internal design.

Anybody have any insightful comparisons, PDP vs. RDS vs. Butterfox?

I didn''t get the butterfox, but I compare the pdp and the rds in my video linked a few posts up.

I got my Butterfox case yesterday. This thing is different than what I thought. Did they change it?

I thought it held a Switch with joycons. But mine is not as wide. It won't hold my Switch with joycons. It only holds m naked Switch.

As far as I know there are 2 different butterfox cases. One small one (which you probably bought) and one that fits the switch with joycons attached.

If it fits in the little Club Nintendo pouch that I got a few years back (meant for DS) then I will use that.

Not a chance lol

This is what i'm using for now while every fucking case is sold out. I should have ordered the Zelda special edition for that sweet case :(

Oh whoops. I thought I bought the bigger one. Oh well! The smaller one is much more manageable.

Anyone's RDS case seem warped on the inside?

If I put my Switch in it, and then press my finger down on each of the 4 corners, 3 seem stable, while pressing the bottom-right corner causes the rest of the unit to lift up, like it is not actually sitting on any material in that corner.

Anyone?

The Switch fits snug, but it's easier to use than the New 3DS (non XL) CitySlicker that I use with New 3DS Black Super Mario. The magnetic snaps on the Switch case are a nice change, and the Switch comes out ready to go. Sometimes I can only play for a few minutes, but I don't have to worry about setting the Switch down on a couch or table while I'm distracted.

What's your opinion on that one? Worth checking out?
I like it. Seems sturdy enough. It's small and compact. Fairly cheap at $22 shipped. And it's minimalist except for the logo. It's not nice but it's inoffensive.

So I bought these two bags (small and medium sizes):
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B7WWGY8/?tag=neogaf0e-20
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B7WV4KK/?tag=neogaf0e-20

Got the big one and posted a bit in the other thread:
http://m.neogaf.com/showpost.php?p=232695681

Playing with it a bit more, I can get the Switch and dock together inside along with extra set of joycons and straps, Hori 24 game case and power brick (and presumably HDMI cable) in the open space above the Switch/dock, and extra two straps fit in the pen slots in front. Pretty neat and compact for a full setup travel solution.

Anyway the small one came in too:

Barely fits, but it fits. Joycons can fit in front like the other one (smaller pocket is the same size) but thickness/bulk wise it works better if they're just on the bottom like laid out there. There's enough space left in front for thin stuff like cables or a flatter form factor battery. Can't really get the Hori game card case in, but found you can pop out one of the pages (12 games) and just stick that in one of the pockets no problem. Course with both bags you can get creative with taking off the joycons too.

I have two cases. I have the Zelda Sheikah Slate case from the Zelda special edition for when I'm hanging out with fellow nerds. I also have a plain black case for when I don't want it to be obvious that I'm carrying a Switch.

Thanks for that. If this newer version of the butter fox doesn't work out, I'll give that a try. Should be here Sunday. I spoke with a rep and it's supposed to be roomier around the shoulder buttons and uses a Velcro strap.

Just bought the Keten case to go with my RDS (which I may swap out for a one that doesn't seem so uneven inside).

For when I only plan on using tabletop mode. I suppose I'll have to put the joycons back on the unit when I dock it once or twice a week to keep them charged.

I hope to throw my 3ds (Kid Icarus) stand in the case as well, should be pretty convenient.

Any idea how well you could fit JoyCons connected to the grip in that bag? I'm looking to get something secondary to fit just an extra set of JoyCons, two grips, for slide attachments and maybe a battery pack.

So like entirely as just an accessory bag, and I assume you mean the smaller bag? I'll check it out but I only have one grip to test. I'd guess joycons and straps would be fine, battery and cable too probably (but I don't have a big battery to test), the handles on the grip might be an issue.

Hell I'm debating taking apart the grip to take the handles off and just have the center holding piece. Might not be comfortable but it'd be thin to pack at least...plus I don't use the grip so no big loss for me.

My RDS case from Nintendo store arrives on Monday. Sweet. Need to remember to air it out once it gets here.

Just got my WaterField pouch in the mail and...I mean, wow. It's a rare instance of exceeding my wildest expectations. It's a perfect fit, it's furry-padded(!), there's ample room for cables and games/extra JoyCons, and it looks good. So good.

WaterField Pouch

I got the brown waxed canvas and to my delight, it's a lot darker in person. Considering this will be carrying what is essentially my main home console, I'm happy to spend the extra money for a premium solution, though I feel like this was an absolute steal at $50 considering the quality.

EDIT: Pics!

That looks great.

I'm still debating on which one I wanna go for. I was about to order the City Slicker, but back-pedalled right before hitting the confirm button. Now that Waterfield made the decision even tougher with their switch pouch and also their existing gear pouch, I keep checking in here multiple times througout the day to check if there are new pics.

I really can't say enough good things about it. It's impossible to showcase in photos, but it just feels substantial, and I'm all for a solution that plays down the videogame associations (bright colors, huge logos, characters, etc.) and makes the hobby feel like a trend-setting luxury. It makes the one I ordered off of Amazon (that I'll be returning) look laughable by comparison.

Finally round a RDS Traveler's case in stock locally after only seeing them once on launch day. Nice case but holy crap does it stink. Anyone else have this problem and found a solution? It reeks of chemicals.

Aired mines out over night in front of an open window. Odor was just about gone the next morning.

Yeah the odor seems to be a common issue. I had to let it air out as well, for me it involved a couple days in front of a window. But the smell has definitely died down, and I assume it will eventually go away.

Probably should have bought a case but so far so good, threw it in my backpack with some clothes for its first flight. Zelda on the plane was legit.

In other news it almost lasted the entire 5 hour flight too. Brightness was down, no sound, airplane mode... but still quite happy with the battery.

Damn I love the colors on this one, but I guess it's sold out now? Do they restock often?

Should be getting my Keten today.

I think I'm going to set up a replacement for my RDS case.

My Switch doesn't sit flush in the case, it's like raised on one side, so I'm thinking I got a bad one. The convenient Target stores in my area are out of stock so I guess I'll be seeing how an online replacement goes.

I received mine with the March 24th shipment, but when I purchased, it was with March 31st batch, so I got it a week early. Maybe it's because I was a first-time customer (and put that in the comments at checkout), but either way, the wait would've been worth it.

Also, I brought the bag into work today and got two of my co-workers to purchase the same one. I'm telling you, SwitchGAF. I'm telling you.

RDS case arrived. Nice and sturdy. It didn't have the smell people were talking about. I was expecting it and nothing. I guess the second batch doesn't suffer from it.

The only thing I don't like is the rubber handle. Feels a bit slimy or sticky? If it bugs me, I can just wrap it with something else. No biggie. Good solid case.

I got the RDS, too, and it came from Gamestop via delivery - and didn't smell at all when I got it. I was prepared for the worst, too...

I got the Zelda Sheikah Eye starter kit from gamestop. It's the same PDP case that comes with the Zelda special edition, but with a different design. Honestly.... I like it more than the special edition case. The top actually feels more rigid than the slate case, even though they're the same thing with different art. Feels like it was better constructed. I made an unboxing video if you are considering it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pGwcMC_0VSk&feature=youtu.be

Ugh I'd love a gray waxed canvas. I'm more of a black/gray colors.

It seems I'll have to let the Keten air out at least overnight. It has a strong odor as well.

Seems like a little less protection / quality than RDS, but I assume it'll work well and be convenient for me. I'll come back with updates.

Got my RDS case in. Its as good as nearly everyone says. Sturdy, well designed, etc.
One thing Im not sure about....that slot underneath the game cards. What is that for? At first, I thought it would fit the Joy-con straps but it doesnt.

Thats one thing I wish it had. Joy-con storage. Weird how a lot of these cases dont account for that.

I bought both the traveler, and the system case.
My traveler case didn't smell, the system case reeked. Had to let it open for 3 days to get rid of the smell. I haven't got a clue about why some stink, and others don't. :p

I absolutely hate that this thing leaves extra room for the system to flop around in.
Are there any soft cases that are a tight fit for just the console? I don't need to carry around games, or anything accessories. Just the system.

I'm guessing the smelly ones were from a specific batch. Not sure why but maybe it absorbed the smell from the factory or during shipping in those cargo containers. Pretty weird. Glad I didn't have to suffer through that.

I bought mine off the shelf at Toys R Us, so I guess any chemical smell had already disappeared when I got it. Or maybe I just didn't notice it.
