What gaming sentiment bothers you the most overall?

I was going to make a turn based thread but instead of it solely focusing on my beef with turn based hate I figured let's see what other sentiments that many dislike as well.

For me it's really the whole turn based combat vs action based that is my biggest annoyance with gaming opinions. I typically can look past most of the other stuff but this one on particular gets me and mainly because of the fact that it's portrayed as archaic when it's not about age, it's about style and formulas that loosely relate to pen and paper, chess etc... The simple concept of You make your move, now I'll make mine is age old and allows for plenty of strategy in the gaming world. We get so many action based combat games, so many... So when I see people just bash the living hell out of turn based it never made sense to me as they have plenty of action combat games to choose from.

And it's nice to not have every single game follow the same suit. If all games had real time combat then we wouldn't have much variety.

I know tho around here it seems many are turn based fans which is great to see, this is more based on say the last 15 years or so on forums and reading overall input towards turn based combat and the way people look down on it.

Other than that, I really don't have to many things that bug me when people have differing opinions and points of view, I can take most and be fine with it. But damn man, don't be messing with my turn based combat :p

What sentiments bother some of you the most?

Bigotry is ok

More exclusive to the game development side, day 1 patches annoy the hell out of me on principle, just finish the damn game before you ship it

The attitude that, after playing an extremely good game, every game afterward will only be disappointing.

It bothers me if someone doesn't understand retro gaming as it has archaic visuals.
There was so much fun in this games, why not today? Just ask yourself this question.

People not wanting to put in even the slightest amount of effort is bullshit, but at the same time the genre really did go up its own asshole.

I don't like the sentiment that a current system should be disregarded because a new system exists. An example of this is the "why isn't this on switch instead" sentiment every time a 3DS game is announced or the frequent suggestion that Sony should cease supporting PS3 on PS+.
I know that some people when buying a new system like to sell their old system either to fund it or due to limited space but I dislike their expectation for those of us happy to juggle multiple systems and generations to adapt around them.

"Old games have no value"

I hate how people spit on things like retro releases claiming they're worthless now.

Just because something is old, doesn't mean it's not worth any money at all anymore.

The need for a certain "level" of graphics.

I still am playing new to me game first made I the 80's.

Also as I huge fan of 3D games since the last year I've been going back and collecting PS1 games and enjoying them even though I originally we get from a SNES to a Dreamcast and didn't play PS1 games till they were available as PSN Classics.

That games need to try appeal to everyone of all skill levels equally and that it is 'bad design' if a game is challenging and doesn't give the the player the ability to change the difficulty level.

A step further than that is games that try to be different in some way have 'bad design' BECAUSE of the fact they are different.

Games are only worth x amount.
Certain games are only worth x amount.
Old games should be cheap/free.
Dlc season passes should be x amount.
Consoles should be x amount.

Essentially the struggle life mentally that derails every thread and recently reviews.

"I don't play indie games"

Yes, limit yourself to games that have huge budgets only. That is obviously a sign of value and quality.

Putting single player and multiplayer games on the same list of "all time best games"

There should always be separate lists - they are entirely different experiences

Not exactly a sentiment, but it annoys me - lol

"Well received game that I don't like is overrated. I don't have any objective arguments against the game's quality, but I didn't like it so it's overrated."

I also hate the notion that some people have that indie games are inherently inferior.

"This thing is overrated."

It's effectively dismissing the opinions of loads of people as being less discerning and valid than the single one being spouted. "I don't like this thing" is a personal opinion that doesn't write off every other one as wrong at the same time.

"3D games made 2D games irrelevant"
"Turn-based combat is archaic"
"Portable games have to be playable in tiny chunks and so huge RPGs don't work" (sleep modes pretty much solved this one).
"Keep politics out of games" (usually used to mean 'keep the inherent politics in games the way I like them', and perhaps thought of as a more socially-acceptable sentiment than 'keep diversity out of games').

"*minority* characters should only be included if they're well written"

A shitty cowardly form of bigotry used when people don't want diversity but don't want to out themselves.

Nintendo going third party will hurt them..ugh

I actually came to post "Nintendo should go third party" and even worse "Nintendo is ending up like Sega"

Holy shit, did everyone consider the Wii U the entirety of Nintendo's business? Even with the GC selling 20 million units, it still made a ton of profit. The Wii, DS and GBA made them so much bank that they can have 5 more Wii U's and keep going strong.

I don't like how cultish some of you are with Nintendo. It's possible to like Nintendo without liking every single one of their IPs, or agreeing with every single business decision they make.

Yeah, this.

How come only minorities are held to this standard?

-Denying the quality of old games, or claiming that entire generations (like 32/64 bit) are "unplayable" now. Which I consider on par with disregarding any black and white movie. I wouldn't recommend such things to casuals, but you aren't a hobby gamer if you can't invest time in classics, of which many are still amazing today.
Or the other way round: Claiming that Last Guardian's junk controls are something that would have been acceptable 10 years ago. Nah man, Team Ico controls were already crap back in the day and there are more than enough games with precise controls from that era.

-Trying to explain the WiiU's failure by anthing other than bad games output at its core. I mean, I dropped full price for this piece of trash launch day. Then I suffered through a 4 year drought, plus Nintendo sequels that may as well have been map packs, while wading through empty "next year will have the megatons each month!" hopes of blind apologists each year. So don't tell me how amazing and 'undeservedly panned' junk like New Mario Bros 5 and Musou with Zelda skins was, or how a Nintendo console without even bare basics like an exclusive Zelda was Nintendo's "best library ever - it didn't sell because of 3rd party conspiracies and not enough ads!".

I'm going to go with begging for difficulty modes, games that have them are often subject to criticism nonexistent in the games "true" difficulty.

By implementing difficulty modes into a game like Dark Souls it will subject itself to unfounded criticism just for the sake of people being able to "experience" the game. In a perfect world that would be nice that people with less time to devote to games could take a leisurely stroll through it to experience it. However I absolutely guarantee that it would be an audience divide and people would say the game is a button masher/hack n slash game because they are able to just plow through areas with little consequence. On lower difficulties.

A lot of peoples enjoyment comes from having forced themselves to overcome an immovable obstacle. It's why playing with cheat codes on is only fun for like 20 minutes because none of your actions have consequences.

"Nintendo is doomed."

"Nintendo has to go 3rd party to survive."

"Nintendo is the next Sega."

None of these are true. Nintendo has enough money in the bank to have like 20 more Wii U level failures before any of these statements would be true.
