Gran Turismo Sport Beta Thread

The trees look so much better on Nurburgring than Brands Hatch.

In old GT Sports footage the trees on Nurburgring looked really, really bad. Someone did a comparison and they've done a pass on redoing trackside detail since then, and now it looks great. I'm thinking they haven't done that pass on Brands yet.

Hey, sorry to derail a bit, but a few post back you mentioned using a ChronosMax for your wheel and I'm wondering how your experiences have been with it. I did a bunch of googling after reading your post it it seems awesome.

I have a friend on the edge, but we're both wondering things like, how much, if any, input lag is introduced in process. Also, does this basically make Fanatec wheels compatible with all ps4 games?

Thanks in advance.

The fact that we can't buy one wheel for X1/PS4/PC is SUPER annoying. I'm curious too as I don't like buying multiple wheels.

I know what you said. And i showed you a video and proved that you're wrong.

Oh yes, you're hard headed.

You don't understand the conversation. Let it go.

Naaaah, i'm probably so dumb to understand when you said that GTS graphics are on par or behind.

That's not what I said, you're leaving out what I specified in each post.

You aren't able to separate what you think I said vs what I actually said, or need to go back and read my posts. :)

I don't know much about it, but maybe someone here does? It claims to allow you to use your controllers/wheels on whatever you'd like.

Can I use Steering Wheels with a CronusMAX?: The short answer is yes but requires a more detailed explanation. Although some wheels work out of the box, most Racing Wheels such as Logitech G27 and most Fanatec brands require a special mode called PS4 Wheel Mode and require a USB Hub and works only on the PS4 BUT supports Full Force Feedback. For consoles such as the Xbox One or wheels like the Thrustmaster you also require a Windows PC to be connected to the CronusMAX along with a special plugin (X-AIM, or MAX Input) and dedicated scripts that have been pre-made by our team of specialists.

Our support community has a large user base of racing wheels owners who all give each other support and advice on how to optimized their gaming rigs. There are also many videos and guides to help you get the best our of your CronusMAX and Racing Wheel enjoyment. I think there's a disconnect between what I actually said, and what you think I'm saying. Language barrier maybe?

I know what you said. And i showed you a video and proved that you're wrong ( i think i'm not the only one who thinks that you're wrong )

I'm not going to quit posting because of a few that get upset if anything critical...

It actually looks like grass that's why it looks strange in a game.

Irl grass doesn't have random ass tufts sticking out like flowers and bushes. Like do people not go outside? It's way more uniform in length when groomed like on a trackside.

And Lol at the people calling it worse than Forza what a joke. By far the best art and techniques for realistic sky and trees and background hands down.

Oh boy - I really can't say I agree with this. I mean, fine it's uniform, but it doesn't look like real grass. And yes, i go outside.

Anyways, not something to get hung up on, PD's focus has not been on stuff like this for at least the last two entries.

I hope that aren't standard cars in the background.

I can vouch for the ChronusMax. I got a Forza Motorsport Fanatec Clubsport wheel and pedals set from a thrift store for $35 a few months ago. I was bummed that I couldn't use it on the PS4 so I looked into the ChronusMAX. I had to buy a USB hub that they recommended as well as the unit. Setup isn't "easy" but I just used a guide that allowed me to use the wheel with Driveclub. Emulates a G29. No latency, force feedback works wonderfully, and I've only had the thing have connection issues here and there. Once you get the PS4 to detect the wheel as a controller then it's smooth sailing. Worked in Driveclub, Driveclub VR, and Project CARs for me. If I ever get into the Sport beta I'll let you all know how it works.

It's reassuring when I can tell through other people's quotes that someone I have on ignore is still pulling the same hostile/defensive stuff that made me ignore them in the first place.

I still need to try to middleware passthrough trick with my laptop to get DFGT/G920 support for PS4. I know it's supposed to be pretty simple, and it would push my time attack enjoyment up like five notches. Is the European branch of this beta active yet? I've just seen a handful of American players on streams, and I know the Euro community is huge.

Have not been a GT fan since GT3, but have to say I am blown away by the gifs and videos. The game graphically looks superb and looks incredibly realistic and the lighting looks so natural. Sorry to anyone bringing up other racing sims like Asseto,Project cars and Forza.

What do you mean?

Holy crap. Honestly blown away by the look of this game now. What a turnaround. Yeah I was one of the doubters struggling to grasp what they've been up to for years, but wow. The people in the background, also the general ambient sound at the tracks from the videos I've seen is great. Actually feels like a race in the real world, not a bunch of guys rocking up to a dead circuit. The little touches in the graphics, just the whole package, really shines right now.

Finally, I'm excited about Gran Turismo again. I miss having my Nordschleife simulator. Those bumper cams actually look like real footage, god I can't wait to dive in.

Yes, you did! You actually said that. And your post is clearly directed towards GTS graphics. Plain and simple.

Lighting and cars look nice, the tracks/gameplay graphics are at best on par with current-gen games and can't stand up to parts of other games.

You want to make me look like a fool, hm?

The wheel works without the Cronus in Project Cars, by the way. It works in WRC 5, Dirt Rally, and a few other games as well, but no newer games because Sony is now blocking it.

Is GranTurismo known for good forcefeedback in steering wheels? I got a PC wheel that's compatible with PS4 in hopes that this game is good.

edit:
watching footage, I'm noticing that the game's physics looks extremely forgiving compared to games like Assetto Corsa. Dunno if I can ever go back unfortunately =(

I haven't played GT5 or GT6 yet, but I've been playing GT4 a lot lately(bloody fantastic game BTW) via PCSX2 emulator with my Bodnar DD wheel, and in all honesty I have to say I feel the force feedback is nothing short of AMAZING!!! It's even superior to iracing's FFB! "How can that be? You're mad!"...you may be saying to yourself, but trust me, the force feedback Polyphony Digital coded into this 13yr old game is very impressive!

Driving the Formula GT car on the Nordschleife, I can feel detail coming through my Bodnar wheel that I've never felt from most other sims. The bumps and curbs are VERY pronounced and refined. It delivers razor sharp effects and detail in a way that closely describes what Beano says he feels in his Lenze in IR.

I sincerely suggest you guys try out GT4 on PC via the emulator. Take a car out to the ring or to Le Sarthe in that game. I have a feeling you'll be pleasantly surprised at how much detail you'll feel. I'm quite frankly blown away. If GT4 can feel this good, I can only imagine how good the ffb will feel in GT Sport.

It's an excellent solution in my limited experience. No discernible lag and full FFB effects. Once it's all initially set up it takes less than a minute to get going from a cold boot.

I've only used it with Assetto Corsa so far but it emulates a Logitech G29 so should work with all PS4 games that support that wheel.

Edit: my wheel is a Fanatec CSR Elite with Clubsport pedals.
