No, they know how heinous those views are. They are just trying to co-opt liberal views on tolerance and diversity so that you can't criticize them, having completely missed the point of inclusion in the first place. They're trying to play the part of victims.

No kidding. Was in an argument with someone and they asked me if I even watched the debate at all. They use the "both sides" thing, "it was just an opinion," "Playtonic is just virtue signaling," "SJWs on NeoGAF are to blame," "he apologized anyway and was humble about it." Many of these are direct quotes, some paraphrased. Lots of random tangents to defend JonTron from questioning your own info to deflecting blame, to you name it.
They have no central defense for defending him.
These people are disingenuous. They will say anything, even shit they don't actually believe in, to try and score points. That's why they always have a kitchen sink approach to arguing.

There are no words to describe the emotion that i feel when I see this tweet, a mixture of awe, confusion, concern, laughter and fear.
The entire chain is everybody just telling him the source he posted, is counter to his claim.
And not only that....the comments that support Jon about his "facts" even link to that same article.
It's like looking at some sort of strange ten headed snake devouring itself in it's own confusion.

I think their best move would have been to simply state they didn't agree with what he said but left it in there because it was a minor appearance. That way most of the people saying they didn't want him there would have likely been pleased, and this attacks from the gamergaters would have not existed.
I get the feeling they still would have been pounced on, but in this scenario by the left as well.
It'll die out. People only have so much attention to give. Not really much you can do other than support the devs and wait for it to end.

Unfortunately I don't think the left is nearly as aggressive as these gamergate fucks though. I mean look at gaf. We had people saying they wouldn't support the game for allowing a known racist to be part of it. That was largely it. These guys on the other hand are likely to harass playtonic and I wouldn't be surprised if death threats or invasion of privacy starts happening.

Did you see the announcement thread before Playtonic acted? It was turning into a witch hunt. They were already being accused as racists and people were flaming them for it. They were being forced to out themselves.
The left should have been more understanding of the predicament these guys had found themselves in and been aware of the risk they were creating for Playtonic.
Ultimately these indie devs were left with no choice but to show their hand.
These people aren't making a stir because they actually wanted to listen to JonTron grunt a few syllables in Yooka Laylee. They would be doing the same thing if Playtonic just made a statement, because for these people it was never about the actual game. Which should be obvious when they turn on it because Playtonic didn't include a specific voice actor.

nobody knows. He made a tweet to the guys because he is friends with Grant and they said that they would let him voice a character. But it was probably some random NPC with a few lines.

I've seen plenty of JonTron fans misinterpret asking whether Yooka Laylee is associated with a vocal bigot with 'you are all nazis', but no one believes this.
It's very reasonable to ask whether someone very poisonous is a part of their game. In the case of a YouTuber is a plea to draw in their fans, and it's reasonable to expect to lose some detractors. This is true of actors and musicians that are involved in products, and it's true here.
To roll over is a tacit endorsement of their views. Whichever YL character JonTron voiced could quickly become the new Pepe.

Honestly chances are if Dunkey revealed what he really thought he'd be in the same camp of many youtubers of hating 'SJWs' and wanting to say whatever he wants to say without being called out on it, but at least he has been smart enough to not go to twitter and start talking politics.
People were digging up old statements and attempting to link them to racism, bigotry, etc. Not just on GAF, but elsewhere, such as on Twitter. Everywhere Yooka-Laylee was discussed, they were being asked for action.
The far right should be condemned, but we shouldn't turn a blind eye to the very reason Playtonic acted. Had there not been an overblown reaction to JonTron's inclusion, they likely would have tried to play it down and wait it out rather than risk botching the launch.
Playtonic was given no choice but to put themselves in front of the masses and face the far right directly in the eye.
It is shitty that this happened to them through no fault of their own. That is my point here.
There was a page where people squabbled over an iffy tweet an employee made about not wanting to see politics on their feed but it happened mere hours before the announcement was made. like i kinda doubt playtonic was sitting around going "well we weren't going to say anything but now we're getting called out over this one tweet by a handful of people on neogaf! our hands are tied we have to respond now!" like tadaima is implying

You can't possibly try and compare people asking them for a statement with this hateful reaction we're seeing now, no one did any of the shit we're seeing now.
