Real talk though. Your prefrontal cortex doesn't grow in until around about 25. That's the part of your brain that helps you not make fucking stupid decisions and regulate impulse control. You literally are mentally incomplete until around 25, so there's a strong argument for anyone under 25 still being a child.
I actually came up with a way to restructure the education system to help people not fuck fuck up their lives. Instead of being left to the wilds at 18, I would basically not have people out on their own till 25 and with a nice financial cushion. Here's my concept:
Graduate from high school at 18, then spend three years in a non combat role in the military. From there spend two years in the Peace Corps, and finally two years in college (getting your associate's degree). You'll get the discipline of a military structured life, a more completely realized view of the world from the Peace Corps, and a good start on life with a degree in something. Plus, the whole time, you would be in barracks or dorms of some sort and the majority of the money from the military and peace corps wouldn't be released to you until after you finish school. You'd have one hell of a resume plus a comfortable amount of money to start your life out with.
If I have a redo in life, this is what I would have done when I turned 18.

People should know what the fuck the military actually does, because it's not remotely what people think it is. I know it was nothing close to what I expected and it made me a much better person. Three years in the military is nothing and it's absolutely essential. Plus, it's what pays for the school later on via the Post 9-11 bill.
Also, I would have everyone apply for the Pell Grant in school too. Free money is free money.

Jokes aside, one of my best friends is training for the marines, and I'm worried for him, especially in this fascist state, especially because he's gay.
But he believes through military service he can get the influence to make the world a better place. I don't know how I feel about that.

But that doesn't mean it should be mandatory for everyone. Even in a non-combat situation.
By making it mandatory, you're removing the civilian population over the course of a few generations. As everyone will have had served in the military.
What if there's a war or something other conflict, i assume people could called back into service. ?
All you've done is reintroduce the daft through another method.
Then what about those who drop out during HS, or who are of an older generation before this was introduced, are they now seen as second class citizens because they haven't served. ?
If worse comes to worst, will they lose their right to vote. Because they haven't contributed as much as the rest of the population. ?
You've also massively inflated the U.S. defence budget. As if it isn't already massively bloated.
I understand where you're coming from with wanting to give kids a sense of discipline as well helping them further their education. But that isn't the way. Sorry.

Yeah I'm a bit wary of governments forcing young people to go through some kind of "service" or something completely based on the experiences or feelings of a head of state. Didn't a lot of communist regimes do something like that? At least base decisions like that on empirical data.
Actually, what are the countries like that have some level of mandatory conscription or military service? South Korea's one right? And I think most men in Libya had some level of weapons training during Gaddafi.
