After wiping 4 missions in a row, I trudge through yet another laggy match (which makes the already unresponsive jumpjets/cover system even more terrible), complete and don't get awarded the credits

Oh, and halfway through that match only the left/right axis worked for movement after being revived, stayed until I went down again

What a fucking garbage fire of a game

Random quick match blows.

Playing with bunch of local friends with one as host is night and day better.

So if you kick somebody in a gold match on wave 7 you'll only get 2000 credits and a little bit of xp.

We kicked him because he refused to use a medigel on the extraction waves and wave 6 with objectives.

I'd love to try it but A) It has crashed for half of the matches I've gotten into and B) There is no force start timer once 3/4 players are ready. I've spent more time in the damn lobby than actually in game. Amateur hour.

This. I had some crashes en route to 20, but now it's more often. Also, needs the force start.

Yeah, when I wonder what the hold up is, and I see that slacking player's color scheme switch, I usually drop that group. If I was in with a pack of three friends, where we could actually talk, that would be different. But the clocksuckers who are inconsiderate of everyone's time really piss me off.

I just bounce--theres been plenty of times where people just don't play mid-match, and that's frustrating.

Gotta love it when your game crashes in Wave 6... -.-

Yep, had a few of these two.

Same is true here in Wisconsin. I've been dumped to desktop 10 straight times during peak playtimes. This, combined with the shorter match length will cause you to go through your consumables faster (especially if you play on silver or above).

This game is all about incentivizing the EA cash grab.

Yes, technically, if you're tracking item use within a match, then you can easily restore those in case of a crash, even if it is a day later.

I definitely have to say, after playing 30 or so matches, that something seems off with the difficulty tuning--specifically enemy health. I have no problem with enemies being lethal, but when a black widow can't kill a shielded enemy with 3 headshots on silver, I don't know, seems like a bit much. Everything is just such a damage sponge, and enemy density seems much higher than me3 at the same time. Maybe things change as levels increase, but it seems that even higher tier guns are barely making a dent in most enemies, and biotic and other combos seem to hardly do any additional damage at all. What was appealing about biotic explosions in 3 was that when you set them up you could clear a room full of enemies in a second; here it seems like, maybe you get a bit of extra damage on the detonated target, and put a (small) dent in anything that is super, super close by. And would be shield stripping powers like overload and energy drain... take less than half of an 'weak' enemy's shield out on bronze.

Has anyone progressed far enough to indicate whether this changes substantially as you gear up?

I can chime in here, I've done the bronze and silver tiers, have a max level character, and multiple weapons. I also put a ton of time into the ME3MP.

There's only a few holdovers from the last game that have their same-ish level of power--the Pirahna, Talon and Valkryie are good guns. The Carnifex is straight up garbage, Disciple feels weaker. I've only used a few of the snipers, only one felt good. I have a Juggernaut shield, but doesnt seem to do a lot.

The enemies are straight up sponges--i didn't think so at first, just that regular learning curve. Nope.

First, there is nothing anything past 100% cooldown, so if you want to use your powers more often, you're basically SOL for anything except a pistol or POS Avenger. The only thing that seems to kill anything is grenades and shotgun/heavy pistol. Cobra RPG isn't an instakill for any boss past bronze, which is a problem because on Wave 6 on silver, enemies constantly spawn behind you. Yes, straight up behind you, it's the to the point where I just turn every 20 seconds or so and shoot the lizards.

Ammo below rank 2 isn't worth using even on silver. You need multiple rank 2 or higher boosters to kill shit on Silver.

Power combos are definitely weaker; the Avenger has the shadow strike which also primes the target for explosions. There has not been a single time where the Tech Combo has killed more than one extra guy; which means Im fighting against 2-3 guys post explosion. Which means a grenade which may or may not stick, and since I can only kill 1-2, it usually means Im running from the third, especially if it's a Berzerker or Agent or Fiend or whatever.

So, there aren't many characters that clicked with me; between the combat changes, drops and general horseshit jank, I'm thinking I might actually be done for a while until it's fixed. I wasn't planning on going back to Destiny for a while, but fuck it. Gold doesn't seem worth it with all of these changes; the playtime sink to feel stronger and actually work as a cohesive group isn't there for me. And that sucks--5 years waiting for this MP to come back, and the stellar combat has been outdone by sponges, connection issues and player weakening combat power changes.

They do need to work on the P2P localisation, it's a whole different game when you're not lagging (half my matches are laggy) - needs a connection meter in game.

I'm starting to hit my stride with the Krogan engineer but the MP just doesn't feel as tight as ME3's. There were clear headshots, tight cover functionality and I rarely accidentally made a bad move. Now I'm constantly screwed out of cover from my character lagging off a ledge or popping from behind a box. ME3 felt like you snapped into and out of cover. I miss that feeling.

That new map is totally unfun and seems to be broken for clients. Played 3 rounds on that thing as host and lost people in wave 6. Seems broken. And the Enemy density even in bronze difficulty is just wrong on this map.
This map even feels kinda smaller than the others.

And yeah what others said. Bullet Sponge enemys arent fun. I especially hate that shield guy with the little orb.

Yeah, this pretty well echoes my experience so far. Really disappointing given the gem that ME3 multiplayer. The (potential) good news is that this is the kind of thing that is easily fixable just by re-tuning health and/or damage values. Now, whether that will actually happen is another question entirely.

They really need to rework combos or atleast buff them severely so that they're atleast me3 levels. Seriously, Biotic combos barely dent health, let alone armor, and they don't even have the biotic echoes effect from SP to make up for it. Combined with the longer cooldowns and weird (lack?) of physics damage, power based kits have been nerfed a lot.

On a side note, is it me or do biotic combos not have the 2x armor damage bonus like in me3? It seems like fire explosions do way more than Biotic combos while also being easier to pull off.

Man I'm playing the gold apex mission with 50% increased shotgun damage and they still kind of suck. I'm even using a shotgun amp and ammo, so really its more like 70% increased damage which is even sadder. I miss my claymore.

Not sure about severely. Biotic combos were depressingly overpowered until very late in ME3, making it pointless to get weapon upgrades.

I'm having fun with MP, but I do agree with most all the points made about the current state of MP. I'll be glad for the first patch because an overall buff to powers and most weapons are needed. And, some enemies health need to be toned down a bit. Haven't tried gold yet, but silver has me putting almost a whole clip to down red bar enemies.

Try doing a melee build with the perk in Barrier that gives you shields on a melee hit. Just run in and face tank all the things. She's my gold farmer <3

that's what im going to go for

melee + biotic explosions build

it's beautiful tbh. i usually top the scoreboard with it, yet I still get kicked out of silver games because im too ''low level''... lol. Grinding her to level 10 on bronze is too slow

Melee build with her is viable in gold? =O

I was getting ready to ask how well she runs in silver. I haven't even tried a silver match yet and don't know if I should with the gear I have, and having the asari adept at level 10. My weapons are pretty lame. Avenger X is honestly my best general gun, and I just got the Phalanx. I feel like bronze has been a breeze and I usually top the board, but I'm worried that I'll get a rude awakening in silver with what I have.

Still having a blast playing as the starter Vanguard class. I decided to respec and max out Charge ASAP and only using a Katana III Shotgun. I get my Charge + shields replenished every 3 seconds or so, while blasting fools up close.

the multiplayer balance is kind of ass so yes

She actually gets a passive that recovers her 10% ( or even 20%? I dont remember) on a melee hit. So basically you can punch everything in the face and get healed at the same time.

At this point, the most viable stuff in the multiplayer are melee and snipers. The rest kind of sucks. Weapon damage is too low and combo damage is also garbage... Hopefully they tweak the numbers a bit and buff everything.

You should be fine in silver tbh. If you have maxed annihilation with the shield recharge perk, you're good to go.

also a general tip for everyone: please dont stay in the extraction zone right when the timer starts on wave 7. You should be on the other side of the map, then when there is 20-30secs left, rush for the extraction. This way the extraction site doesn't get overwhelmed and no one dies. It's a lesson I learned in ME3, but right now I see a lot of people still don't know it, and god knows how many ive seen die on the extraction point at the end because they stayed there and about 50 enemies are pilled up on their ass.

I've only had enough time for two games this week; just one quickmatch game after work in the morning, then I go to bed. One match was kind of laggy; nothing too crippling. The second match I ended up hosting, and it was lag free! Hopefully games I host end up relatively lag free going forward.

I keep fantasizing about leveling up my Krogan Mercenary for a up close melee/shotgun build. When I max out the Fortify and Rage trees, I should have something like +170 melee damage, and +110 damage resistance when in Rage Mode. Hopefully I'll have some time to grind out levels on him next week when I'm not working~

How long did you guys go on buying basic packs for? I'm trying to figure out whether I should be investing more in advanced packs.

I go until I max out all equipment from the 5k packs, then I move on to the 20k packs while farming in Silver. This will prep ya for Silver and Gold.

Anyone know if I buy the game on PC if your MP items transfer over? I weirdly played the orginal Trilogy on xbox 360 and when I played Andomeda on PS4 I got the loyalty crates for finishing ME3.

That stuff is tied to your EA account, but I would doubt that your actual progress is cross platform.

I discovered a problem with that - the capacity upgrades still drop randomly, so I'm still stuck on 2 First Aid per match even after getting all the bronze cards.

Yes, someone did a post on Reddit I think which had the maxed equipment just replaced with consumables, which makes the upgrades much longer.

You do get the loyalty crates on PC as well. I had ME3 on 360, DA:I on PS4, got both loyalty packs.

Was playing with friends. It's fun, but the enemies aren't as interesting as ME3's enemies. The changes in the sound effects from me3 and A are bizarre too, getting rid of the excellent headshot sounds and anims from 3 makes getting headshots unsatisfying, for example. Not to mention reloads sound and look a lot more generic.

Overall, the raiders seem to be the easiest enemy type. Hydras are pitifully easy to take down since they don't have shields and berserkers go down quick with some turbocharged headshots from a sniper. On the other hand, the Chosen are more interesting with the ascended having its own gimmick.

Glitchwise: Yeah, this is glitchy as hell. Had a friend who, whenever they loaded into a map, would have a section of the map not have a floor. Like, they could see below the map and were walking on nothing in those sections. The lag's horrible too, even in custom games. Had one friend drop out at wave 6 and get replaced by a random before he could rejoin.

Oh and I had this:

So... others have issues with sound cutting out mid match? It's literally just game sound as I can even still hear teammates on the in game chat. So annoying.

Happen to me twice and a couple friends had it happen too.

Finally got one of the weapon mods that let you shoot through the walls and armor like in ME3. I wasn't sure if they put that in this game. Look's like I'll be sticking with Andromeda for MP for a while.

I think that Biotic Combos and Tech Combos can't be as powerful as in ME3, since all Primers can be used with all Detonators, a Asari Adept can prime a group of Targets and can create 2 Biotic Combos herself and all other members with Detonators can also Triger the explosions. But yeah they don't feel as good as in ME3. The other problem is that everything outside of Snipers and Melee feels really underwhelming, there is no reason to use the katana, the charger is so much better in close range and can actually be used mid range and weighs way less.

Still enjoying it - but boy is a letdown compared to ME3 multiplayer. Agree with everything people have said about bullet sponges and weakness of weapons etc.

Just doesn't feel as fluid or sharp as ME3 in terms of movement. The jump jet thing is a change for the worse imo.

What a fucking garbage fire of a game

Can confirm this. Just maxed out my common cards last night. I bought 4 more basic packs and only got consumables. On to advanced packs now. May buy a expert/premium every now and then to get a decent weapon.

This is tough to hear. I'm having fun in bronze. I think once I'm done maxing characters to 20 I'll have a hard time transitioning to gold. There are a few things about this game bumming me out and I'm not sure I'll play more than a couple hundred hours.

Not sure if it's been answered before but how do Apex missions work? Whenever I clicked "Join Mission" it puts me in a game where it says Custom, and I don't get any mission funds after beating it. It seems like I can only get it to work when I create matches, but does that mean that the effects and rewards only affect/benefit me?

Tip how to be host and have players in your match and on your settings.

Create APEX mission from custom game on difficulty you want to play, pick the most recent one.
Join by yourself to a game and start playing.
If you wont to get any players till end of Wave 2, redo the whole procedure.
After you finish APEX, just switch to the settings you want to play.
Because you already have players in your match you are automatically picked as a priority host in matchmaking, so getting new ones if even someone will leave will be instantaneous.

For fastest and easiest matches i recommend Firestorm Magma + Outlaws.

I'll record later my games on gold. We (me and my friend + two randoms) are doing Firebase Magma with Outlaws on Gold in average 16-17 minutes. We dont even have to use any consumables.
Advancing from silver to gold is not that hard, it just need better team coordination, which generally means that you need to know enemies, missions and play into synergies of classes. Its not that hard really.
Difficulty came mostly from a lot of people being terrible at the game most of the time.

I can't agree with most of what you wrote. Juggernaut shield with any inestment in melee skills is OP. I can play a level 5 adept with no Boosters and melee my way through a Silver match with competent teammates, assuming you have a high cooldown to use charge for shield boosts. With a soldier or a krogan with rage leveled up, good luck.

Of course the enemies are sponges when you use base level weapons, or crap higher level weapons. Use a revenant or an Equalizer or a widow or other weapons and the enemies on bronze and silver are easily taken down. It's an easy win for my level 6 characters and higher with at least 1 or 2 other teammates who know how to play the objectives.

The fact that every skill has cooldown buffs, the 100 percent cooldown is fine. Using the Asari adept and her two detonators at level 2, cooldowns never an issue.

You don't need any boosters to kill shit in silver. You must be doing something wrong.

Power combos are weaker, which means investing in passive skills that boost power and combo damage is a must. This was also true in ME3 where a low level N7 adept wasn't super deadly at combos until skills had more points.

Then we can disagree. Like I said, I've finished the Silver tier. Don't confuse frustrating game experience with not actually being good at it.

Weapons - I have most of them. When I'm not using the Talon + Sidewinder, it's the Piranha. Weapons aren't the problem here--I can kill a lot of shit quickly. But the problem is most groups only have a few of those weapons.

And the power combos being weaker are a problem and there's a difference in 3; the detonator combos flat out don't cause enough damage or affect enough enemies. The point is not being able to do Gold on one map vs one faction forever; I loved fighting everything as multiple characters in ME3. I can't see this providing that same feeling yet, and that's my problem.
