Crota is okay when you have a group of people who know what to do. It's like a 6-man Strike.

It only gets rough when LFGesus decides to smite you with idiots.

It's OK sure, but counting hits to be sure you get the Challenge done is not fun. It's dumb to say "oh I only got 9 hits in so far so I better only do three next time and so that I don't trigger enrage too early".

Not talking about whether it's hard or easy or you do it in five minutes or you do it for three hours and never get it.

I'm saying no matter how smoothly your run goes having to count hits is a really dumb and not fun mechanic.

Anyone know a good place to farm wizards?

Also anyone doing nightfall or raid?

Check out this youtube vid for the strategy I used. Finished it pretty quickly. Not as quick as Thralls but under an hour easily.

Haven't tried this yet, but I will. Found it on Reddit.

It's nothing like that. I just meant that there are years of memories with those guys. Hard to just walk away from that. As for schedules, my kid is in bed by 7:30 CT each night and I have a wife who is perfectly fine with me playing games so this has wasn't an issue until recently with them.

I know the feeling and have had a similar situation (though mine was friends hopping from game to game due to them having more expendable cash in addition to them being able to play more since they don't have kids). I hope it works out but you may want to be prepared to branch out to new and varied groups if they want to be weird about things.

Yeah, I think the auto-enrage is pretty annoying. We accidentally activated it twice last night before adjusting the rotation so one of our less experienced sword-bearers could give it a shot. Obviously he didn't max out damage, but it worked.

I think the auto-oversoul after kneeling is much better, and is much easier to overcome, although it's tough to undo certain instincts from back in the day. Took us a few times to nail down exactly when to start shooting it after the second kneel. I predict smooth sailing now that the hardcore know what to do, but who knows. I only need maybe one more run for the weapons, then I can ditch Crota forever. I hate that gear for my Titan.

If they went back and enabled exp gain and engram acquiring for Challenge of Elders in the other free updated, then why didn't they enable exp gain and engram acquiring for the 390 Crota raid?

The new Grimiore that came with AoT definitely gives it seems some insight into Destiny 2.

The Fallen are leaving the cosmodrome. Burning their house flags.
Eris is leaving the tower to find a way to end the Hive forever. Senses a large storm is coming.
The Queens brother is working with the House of Kings now. Might be why the Fallen are leaving. New Kell of Kells?
Mara possibly alive in some way? Reaching here.

There's a massive unknown object out there thats changing orbits.

Also the reason the Cabal was able to go straight to Earth in the trailer is the loss of the Reefs main force of ships in their battle with Oyrx. There's no longer a barrier between Earth and dark space.

The Last City should've heeded the words of Dead Orbit. And started building a fleet. Now everyone on Earth has no where to run.

If only Humanity elected someone to fulfill that role as a leader. Imagine if their job was to prepare us for the inevitably of War and to leave Earth at a moments notice.

I never thought about it, but on the surface, the factions don't have any conflicting ideas. Kind of silly.

I hope Xur sells exotic shards again 😩
You can get them cheaper through the exotic vaults in the tower. Buy a Super Good Advice (1 shard and some glimmer), unlock all the nodes using motes (don't actually do the upgrades), then discard it. You'll get 2 shards back.

At least that's how I've been getting shards.

Couldn't you buy an exotic rocket launcher at the kiosk, level it with motes, then shard it for two exotic shards?
Oh man, I thought Bungie had removed that from being an option. I'll try that. Thanks!

I used to have a ton, but after Bungie removed them from Xur, TTK put a dent in my exotic shard inventory. I still have a mess of exotic engrams saved up and stuff I can dismantle, but I'm a pack rat lol

My normal raid group has shrunk down to 3 or 4. We tried with randoms last night and it went horribly. Kids being idiots. Quite frustrating. We were trying to do the challenge mode stuff and we were telling people to
stop attacking the witch so we could kill adds
. Guy goes ahead and does the opposite and when we asked him why, he just said "well I got a chest piece out of it".

I'm not one for rage quitting. But that was my first time where I was legit okay with doing it. So I did. Now I have the Crota checkpoint on my hunter. Going to try and do challenge mode on my other chars this weekend.

But we sooooooo need matchmaking in Raids....

I honestly think that the Age of Triump grimoire might be my favourites in the game. Some big players are making their plays in D2.

his real name and story

You've also got what appears to be
a cult forming around the actions of Dredgen Yor.

I'm not saying having matchmaking in the game would stop that. I just believe that I shouldn't need to use a third party matchmaking tool to play certain content in the game. Especially when it was down for some portions of the night last night.

So I see recommendations of Nighthawk hunters for Crota's Oversoul, but yesterday night I was toying with Tether.

I run Sleeper on Crota and I can't tell if it was my imagination but dropping a tether might have caused my Sleeper to hit harder (Yellow Numbers) and also allowed the Swordbearer to do more damage? I say "might" because after so many Crota attempts he might have figured out the right combo.

I'm throwing it out there and definitely want to test when I get a chance.

Oh, I'm just musing how even LFG has issues connecting people. Random blueberries from raw matchmaking is just not the way to go in a mode that's so reliant on fireteam cohesiveness.

Really, really hope they implement LFG in game for D2. There's really no reason not too, and with the rumors of a queue like MMORPG system, hopefully they applied their UX/UI experience they got so right in D1 to D2.

There does need to be in game options to meet people to raid than just begging in the tower.

I honestly didn't even think about using Nighthawk, I just stuck with tether at the end. I think it let the sword bearer do more damage, but it was kind of hard to tell since we all generally did about 33% damage to Crota each cycle anyway.

Would you guys be willing to help a guy who hasn't played since before the expansions? Looking to pick up The Collection on PS4 soon and I'd like to play the raids.

PSN ID is dh4n_dredd.

What's the minimum number of swords it takes to kill Crota? I never ran sword in the original raid (I've killed mini crota about 100 times in CoO) and I don't want to blow it for a group doing the challenge mode.

I feel like someone said it can be done in three swords, so I might not have to do it.

I really love the changes to Crota's End. The bridge encounter (non-cheese) has been one of my favorite encounters in the game and it always frustrated me how little interest players had in learning the fight, opting for a long and uber-boring cheese method instead. The chaos with all of the knights at the end of the fight is awesome as well.

The Ir Yut challenge was very rewarding to pull off. Every member of the fireteam has to be efficient but nothing feels cheap or unnecessarily difficult. I also love that you can't have a single dedicated swordbearer for Crota anymore. That fight always felt way too individualistic for me. Anxious to see any potential changes to VoG next week.

It takes 16 hits to kill; 13 will put him in Enrage.

You want each player to aim to get 3 R2 attacks per kneel. So the total should be 6 per player.

6+6+6 = 18

Which leaves you with 2 hits you can miss.

It took us 3 cycles. Each person using the sword ended up going twice, since there was enough time to get Crota to kneel down twice before you lose the sword. I think tether can help, but I'm not sure if that reduces the amount of cycles you have to do.

My group got Crota down with three swords. Basically by making him kneel, sword slashing and evade, once sword is safe down crota again before oversoul shows up. Clear the oversoul whilst sword is doing work for the second time and then reset for the next sword carry.

Yeah, pretty much what we did too.

Anyone know what the speaker quest drops yet? Surely someone must have grinded it out by now.
I was doing chamber of night quest, when you get to the world's grave portion of the quest there is a room with 3 wizards, you can kill them all and then immediately kill yourself with rocket or grenade and spawn right outside the door and go it again and again.

If you want to risk it you can do it in 2 swords with one hitting 1 R1s at the start of each attack. Also don't have to worry about oversoul on the last attack.

So in summary, its pretty much the Live Team giving us one last middle finger?

I'd much rather go back to paid content if it will include new game modes/content with well thought out quest, etc. I'm hoping this is the direction they go with Destiny 2 or at least have a lot more manpower on the free updates.

The very first step in the Speaker quest ask you to complete 5 missions in the Weekly Story playlist. Instead of guaranteeing a variety of missions by picking 5 from Earth and Moon locations they pick them at random so there is a very good chance you'll be repeating a mission or worse (I got the Array mission 3 times and the Sword of Crota mission twice). We're all used to repeating content and OK with it to a certain degree but how something like that is included is beyond me when you could simply dedicate 5 different missions to the initial quest step thus removing the unnecessary grind of it.
