Zelda BOTW Patch 1.11 released

I have to say,
Kakariko Villiage
is silky smooth, but
Korok Forest
is noticeably improved but still has dips.

And I'm playing on a docked Nintendo Switch.

Same experience. But I was able to explore for a few hours and never had one hitch, even in areas with lots of grass and weather happening around me. Hopefully they keep cranking out optimizations as time goes on. I'll want to revisit the game later on and play through it again. It would be nice to have everything locked down at 30 by then.

I know. But with the switch being there own hardware and probably not even that complex for the length of time zelda and it were in developing you would think they could have done this literally 1 month earlier.

Zelda Switch wasn't in development for as long as the game was. It was ported in the last year or so, and done so as both versions of the game were still being finished/polished

Needs a Holiday on Gallifrey
I just beat the game tonight and it did feel smooth with not a lot of slowdown. Not sure if anyone who did the Ganon fight experienced any slowness prepatch, especially 2nd stage.

Wow, first Great Fairy outside
Kakariko
runs perfectly smooth now. Much better in
Korok
Forest now too as others have said.

I guess this puts to rest the idea that Nintendo wouldn't put out performance patches.

EXTREMELY happy Nintendo is behaving like a modern company and focusing on optimization, even post-release. Bodes well for future Switch games. Hopefully they'll keep polishing this thing leading up to the DLC.

This awesome post made my night.

Wii U ver. Here!

They fixed most of the problems in
Faron Woods
and completly fixed the slowdow in a bifurcation in which the game kind of crawled.

Went to
Kakariko, Hateno and Zoras Domain
(normal and rain) and while there is still a bit of slowdown when moving the camera a lot it feels smother than before.

Korok Forest is also better but not by a lot.

People in this that have already said they noticed downgrades.

The bug you speak of is in the OS, not the game.

I've played the game for over 90 hours on my switch and I can't see any differences in grass or something like that. Of course I might just not see it.

Framerate is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more stable. Minimal drops in docked mode and practically none in portable. Great update!

Didn't notice any downgrades so I'm not sure what people are talking about there.

I've got capture gear, but I've not got the eye for frame rate or other issues - if anyone has gear to test it, or can analyze footage and needs some new footage (from Switch build v1.1.1) for reference, let me know.

Ok, the Great Plateau seems to also be running smother on the Wii u ver.

When i played I noticed it was messy in the Forest section but now it seems fine... until it starts raining and the it goes back to be a bit messy.

It's easy to spot in Zelda since it uses double-buffering Vsync, so basically the game is either 30 fps or 20 fps when bogged down. 20 fps feels and looks slow and sluggish.

Attempted to install update, system froze. Great!

EDIT: ...I can't turn the system off now. What the hell.

EDIT 2: oh it turned off finally.

Right, but I don't know what the specific conditions are for the drop (ie; what taxes the system) and I don't have anything to compare to (ie; pre-patch footage that is in a problem area). I might be able to say "it drops" but not to what level, why, or if it's occurring somewhere it occurred before.

Shadows and texture filtering. But it was only from two people and they said they weren't sure if they were imagining/misremembering it. Also don't know if they played Switch or Wii U ver.

I just want to know if I can delete the patch later if a graphical downgrade is confirmed, since I only play undocked and framerate issues there are rare.

Did this fix the Moblin issue?

It still happens, how often however is still up in the air. I've been critically ragdolling them left and right and I haven't had more than 1 freeze the entire time. Others say it got worse, others say it hasn't changed. All anecdotal.

Excuuuse me princesse to use this but I wanna see the receipts.

"It is a downgrade !1!!"
"Maybe they played it on Wii U..."
"They're were maybe imagining..."

there is no "manually delete this single update" option on the switch as far as I can see.

I figure if the developer are gonna be working on the game too late 2017, it's really nice they are focusing on improving the game too.

I'm waiting for the receipts too, I just want to be prepared if they ever materialize.

Welp. I guess I'm not updating until we know more about what this patch does exactly.

Can you at least delete all updates? And if you start with an unpatched game (physical) does it download a single patch that includes all updates or is it still multiple patches?

Has anyone contacted Digital Foundry yet? I guess they are aware even without anyone reaching out to them but just curious if they're going to do another frame rate test and see if anything was downgraded.

I'm sure they will, but generally it takes them a couple of days at least to make a video (see Splatoon firetest).

Did anyone notice any difference in rain frequency?

I didn't in my time with the game tonight. I got a pretty long stretch of rain doing an outdoor shrine quest. Seems the same to me.

Framerate stability otoh looks to be greatly improved. No issues undocked except very briefly in the center area of Korok Forest where previously that whole area had prolonged dips. Looking forward to playing docked this weekend.

The
Lost Woods
area is sooooo much smoother now. Just did the "puzzle" again and framerate was consistent throughout.

Edit: this is on Switch, docked.

Maybe a bit off topic, but has Nintendo ever released a patch before to address framerate issues? I can't seem to remember any other time.

If that's the case, it's pretty incredible (and more of a testament to how well optimized their games usually are).

Why would they change that? There are game mechanics (
weather forecasts and campfires
) to deal with rain if you don't or do need it (rain works both to your advantage and against you, depending on what you want to do). Except for the areas where it constantly rains for plot reasons.

Just tried the Great Plateau where I left last night, couldn't get a slowdown in docked mode. Very pleased :)

ohhh snap i'm glad I waited to get the switch and Zelda... Now I get to experience the superior version of the game for the first time.

That said, I'm impressed with the power the Switch is putting out granted the size and formfactor. Can't wait to get one...
