How does this game feel? I've seen a smattering of dev posts via twitter and was obviously not final.

Does this feel as tight in control as Twisted Metal?

Never played TM but while the movement feels a bit janky the shooting is pretty much on point and really satisfying. I didn't understand what the sphynx riddles were last night, are they anything special?

People should stop referencing data that makes me feel uncomfortable because games get ported to platforms I don't like
Thank You Mods!

On topic thought I think Cyborgula is still my favorite character to play as so far since he's the one I played with the most in the Beta.

By and large, my impressions haven't changed since the Beta that ran months back.

The gameplay is wholly mediocre and the art is garish and unreadable at times. I can't realistically see this taking off.

Only had time for the tutorial last night, but I'm certainly not put off by what I played. Will get stuck in this weekend if I have time.

Just a tip that it looks like Jaffe is aware of NeoGAF's attention toward this game, so this thread has the potential to be super productive if the last one didn't turn him off.

It's kinda crazy to me, that I played more of this last night than I did Persona 5.

Really appreciate how much focus Jaffe puts on balancing. Every positive has a negative, and, so far, makes everything feel fair. If I died, I know exactly what I did wrong.

Also, Diabla is my girl.

Thanks you mods!

And of course my home internet just had to be down after work. Was really looking forward to playing more tonight.

Want to get my grubby mits on playing Alan and Cyborgula.

Edit: ahh a simple router reset and it's back! :D

Well then, if we're having a thread do over, I think it's only fair for me to bring over what I said in the previous one.

I wish the online set up was structured differently. Not too keen on matchmaking where you have to wait for other players to join.

WHERE'S THE SERVER BROWSER, JAFFE!?

There's so much to play this season, it's insane. I've read a bunch of positive impressions of Drawn To Death yesterday and have been itching to dive in since.

Does he have an account? Should post in this topic like Dylan did for The Tomorrow Children. Lots of good feedback did go to Dylan directly from the OT.

As this is free for plus I guess I'll check it out, but no offence Jaffe I really wish you got involved with a SP adventure game or something again :p

That being said if this is a passion project good on you getting it done. I still think the art style is awesome, I'm just not the biggest MP fan of small scale fights. Mainly because if I suck I suck and I don't feel like I can contribute to a team in other ways. That's on me for being shit at many MP games, though.

I play as Jonhy because I'm just boring and most of the time play with the default character, Bronco seems quite OP with his drone though.

He does, but he hasn't posted since 2014 after being banned for a while. I do agree that it would be cool if he posted here and interacted with us.

Ah well, at least it is known he reads! Whatever anyone says about GAF I do not know of any other site that does Gaming OTs as good (or has such a large audience posting in them). It would be good to see more devs post in them, but I guess when we get to the "AAA" games, everything is carefully handled PR and what not. A bit sad, but I guess it's understandable.

Don't skip the Shooting Range. Some very cool secrets in there.

Lol wtf, ok so now I'm interested to know why the other thread got shut down. Didn't realize there was a controversy surrounding the dev.

I played through the tutorial yesterday and found the humor surprisingly endearing. I laughed quite a bit. Almost won my first game but lost by a single match. It seems like the special moves nullify traditional combat, or maybe I'm just terrible idk. Not sure I'm a fan of 2v2, though, and for whatever reason it was only 1v1 when I played.

Sounds like the first attempt at this thread went well.

I've only briefly tried the game for the first time last night and it's actually not too bad. I was dismissing it as looking like shit from announce, but first impressions have proven surprisingly enjoyable. Will have to dive in deeper to see if it holds my attention though.

Found the art aggressively off-putting, and it doesn't look like it's doing anything particularly wild. I'll pick it up since it's free but it's probably gonna be closer to the end of the backlog for me.

Played the tutorial and absolutely hated it. The writing is awful. Nothing about the humour or art style does it for me I'm afraid. The gameplay seemed fine, though I'm not sure I like how it feels. I don't think I'll put any more time into it.

Awesome, I had no idea this was free for Plus members!

I've been looking forward to this one. The art style is pretty grating, but Jaffe is awesome and I'll try anything he works on. I also love a good arena shooter, so I'm hopeful for it.

I enjoy the writing and style, it's refreshing and occasionally inspired. I specifically enjoy random loading screen messages about things completely unrelated to the game.

The moment-to-moment gameplay is exhilarating. I'm trying to figure out my ideal loadout right now, but the arena-style of having health and weapons scattered around is a blast and very reminiscient of games I would play locally with my friends as a kid. I recommend trying this out if you have PS+. It got me hooked for hours.

Some people on another forum were mentioning that there were some really die hard fans of the game that made it super toxic and it was even more noticeable because not a lot of people were playing before.

So for the people that have played a good bunch how it has been so far with the new influx of players? There will always be jerks every where unfortunately but do they feel like a minority now?

Game is a lot of fun, i love the style and the gameplay feels really tight. Not really an issue but i do feel it can get super busy with things going on that its hard to keep track. I don't usually know what killed me but I'm sure more practice will change that. That's one thing is that win or lose I'm ready immediately to play again cause it was fun and its interesting trying different characters and weapons. I still like Johny Savage best.

I've played a few games now, really a lot of fun. I'm not sure how deep it is but it certainly has great gameplay and I like the art style. Not a huge fan of the low brow humor from the announcer or whatever though.

Got to play a bit of this last night. After playing betas / limited access previews I have to say the game has gotten EVEN BETTER than before.

I'm not sure if it's just the influx of new players, or tightened mechanics, but I found myself winning most matches (and thoroughly enjoying even the ones I didn't win). And the times I didn't, it felt like there were some obvious tactical errors I made and I didn't feel cheated.

The leveling up / blood keys / Mystery Box payouts after the match are nice and keep you wanting to fit in "just one more" game, Overwatch-style.

The tutorial remains as hilarious as ever and is a MUST PLAY.

When I ended up in a 1v1 (Brawl) it was surprisingly tense as every kill matters as it ends the round. Reminded me a bit of Towerfall in that way (except it's not also one-hit kill, as that would be BRUTAL).

My favorite mode continues to be Organ Donor. Seeing those hearts pop out after you kill someone (sometimes many hearts!) is just such a joy, especially after you bank them into a 2x moving goal :-D

Anyone with a passing interest in this game, if you have PS+ you really owe it to yourself to give it a shot. And it may not stick after the first match as it wholly depends on the characters and weapon loadouts you pick. You have to find the right fit for you. For me that seems to be Diabla (I love that close-quarters whip attack), but I'm sure you could make a case for any of the six.

This game is insane. Play as the shark and abuse the fuck out of the air dodge w/shield and the grappling hook

I've been digging the dodgeball torso and the clean J-RPG as my starting weapons, with the ape, slimy jrpg and assault rifle as pickups

Edit:

Also the sharks specials are sweet, chain someone down with Poseidon anchor and zip line away if you make a tactical error and zip back over after you grab health

Wait, how is this thread still on page 1 oO.

Really looking forward to playing this tonight, loved every word of Jaffe talking about DtD being focused on the duell aspect and intense firefights that are not decided in 1 sec like in COD. This is what I loved so much about the early Halos, you actually met on the Battlefield, switched positions, hid, engaged, disengaged etc. during a single fight.

Hope this can deliver the same feeling.

Surprisingly very fun, though there really needs to be a hardcore mode - the time to kill just seems a little too slow for 4 player match ups.

Pancake Mix

Copied someone else's pancake recipe
After playing it for a while, I think competitive games with just 4 players are not super for me. The odds are that whoever you end up playing with has played the game more than you, that's just simple mathematics, and the odds of getting thrown in with really good players are pretty high, which leads to you getting destroyed until the handicaps are triggered. If you're more of a single-player gamer like me (and I include Twisted Metal single-player in there), then that's not a great feeling. However, I like multiplayer games also and I've had some serious fun with this, and will continue to play it a bit.

I'm still pretty happy. The game is fun and gives me a good feeling. A bit like Twisted Metal, even if perhaps not as strong.
This indie studio is definitely going places.

DOWNLOAD IT! if you haven't already

Gave it a try and left disappointed. I liked the concept and overall look however the combat and stages felt a bit limited. The worst thing though is the barrage of edgy writing and "jokes". I'm not a fan of teenage humour. Constant masterbation, "your mother" and fart jokes are very off putting.
