Didnt buy Bayonetta in its heyday so will buy on Steam. Not really my favourite genre but hopefully it will keep encouraging Sega to port, dammit.

Just sold my Bayonetta to a friend, now this happens. Time to finally beat the secret boss, this time in 4k.

I'll double dip on this if:

a) the price is reasonable

b) the port is decent enough for my shitty laptop

c) someone adds a mod that lets me play through while skipping all of the bullshit sections (space harrier, the turret section, the instant death QTEs)

Why is "4K Support" a bulletpoint?

PC games can in general output whatever resolution it is capable of, no?

I have lots of old games that supports 4K.

4K is the new hotness buzzword. The two major console manufactures are creating or have created new systems around said buzzword. Putting that on a bulletpoint might sell a few more copies.

The soundtrack is already available, on amazon at least.
As is the sequel's. It's pricy though, $50 for all 5 volumes.

I've already put 80 hours into Bayo and I need to get that back after accidentally deleting it, I'm not double dipping anytime soon given that PC is a general pain for me.

Which makes no difference whatsoever. The other games giving samplers all have their soundtracks available to buy separately, which is the point of the sampler. It's at the behest of the developer / publisher how or if they give out soundtracks / samplers. Obviously, most people want the full thing and it's usually made available if a sampler is.

Do we have a time for when it will release? Interested to see the price. I'm not a huge fan of Bayonetta but I'd replay it.

Does this mean we'll ever see Platinum's best game, Vanquish, on PC?!?!?!

I can dream...

Sometimes developers/publishers restrict their games to certain resolutions. MGR for example couldn't go higher than 1080p, and stuff like Dark Souls were internally locked to 720p.

Modders sometimes fix it, but it's nice to have it there from the start.

It would be cool if they would announce it as having arbitrary resolution support, but I guess that's less PR friendly than "4K!"

This is always the narrative that mainstream sites like to put out there.

Runs 25-30 FPS at medium-low settings on console - Just peachy!

Runs 50-60 FPS on PC with mid range hardware at ultra (and some minor graphic issues) and someone left MSAA as a default option - PC port is a trash fire! Stay away, get the console version instead!!!

Shit, it's the narrative you see from people crying on steam discussions too from what I've seen. Not just mainstream sites.

So many PC ports of Japanese games have been known for doing dumb shit like capping the resolution at some arbitrary point (usually whatever the console version was running at) that I guess they feel the need to advertise that they're at least doing the bare minimum expected of a PC game.

Since this game is a previous gen title, i wonder if it's going to be playable at 60fps/1080p using a 8800 GT and a Core 2 Duo.... DMC4 (which is technically similar) certainly is in such setup.
You might want to have a look how DMC4 SE runs and adjust your expectations.

Not only are they minor issues, but they are minor issues that have since been completely fixed with FAR.

Hell, the port had Durante's approval even before FAR.

Calling it shoddy is a straight up lie. It's the best version of the game.
I've been a bit dissappointed there hasn't been any official bug fixes for the game this far out from launch.

Anyway back on topic: Bayonetta hell yeah; what took you so long we've all been waiting.

Out today!?

Are they pulling a Sega Saturn? lol

It's been done before with digital releases like that, often to success. If I remember correctly, Valkyria Chronicles on Steam was announced and release within the next day or something. Obviously that one did really well.
