Looking forward to this. Back in its day, I got stuck on a puzzle and remember driving two towns over to flip through the strategy guide at a Computer City. Curious to know if I can solve it now, 20+ years on.

I loved this game back in the day. In fact, I think this was also the first time I used GameFAQs, thanks to a friend. I could never figure out how to beat the chainsaw lady. Looking forward to playing it again.

Also, First 30 Minutes, including looking at some bonus features.

One of my favorite games of all time. Can't wait for this - Double Fine has done great with these remasters, and I especially love the voice overs (always hilarious and insightful), concept art, and updated music.

As always a reminder for first time players - the commentary is always really good, but be wary - while talking about the development and the reasoning behind their design, its unavoidable that they spoil some story elements and puzzle solutions, or talk over some cutscenes. So you might want to save the commentary for a second playthrough, or only if you've already played the original version in the past.

Any word if the combat controls have been reworked? I remember them clunky as fuck.

Tim Schafer mentioned that they've made them a bit more intuitive and accessible. They were definitely clunky before. So they should be generally the same, but they control a little better now.

Sony and Windows only? They could at least bring it to Macs.

One of the first games I ever played when it came out (1995). I was six.

This is the only thing that can take me away from Persona 5.

Did they redraw Ben from memory? I guess it's somewhat impressive if that's the case. Kind of a disaster otherwise.

On a scale of Grim Fandango - Day of the Tentacle, how much sense do the puzzles make on this one?

EDIT: Thanks everyone!

Man, I remember buying this and couldn't wait to play it. Only we had to go to a family friend's home for dinner so I took the game with me and ended up installing it on their PC and playing it for much of the night with their sons.

The puzzle where you have to
siphon the fuel
took me fucking forever but I'm putting that down to me being a kid.

i don't see the problem?

Angles on his jaw are so sharp you could cut yourself on them.

iirc they're all fairly straightforward

I loved the original as a child and the title song was one of the first hard rock songs I remember liking.

Please The Dig - remastered some day.

Tomorrow will be the first time I'll really play the game but from everything I've heard its not obtuse and actually probably the most straightforward of the old LucasArts games, so more like DoT.

I don't think Peter Chan worked on the remakes much.

Not sure why, maybe they couldn't afford him or he didn't have time?

This game was so my jam back when I was younger. That being said I am expecting this game, much like Day of the Tentacle and Grim Fandango, to be a PS+ game soon so I am biding my time.

Also, RIPBURGER YOU ARE DUMBER THAN DIRT!

Funny your original shots are totally the wrong aspect ratio and look pretty horrible too, they're off by about 33% too wide (420x240 instead of the proper 320x240).

Aside from facial features being slightly different (chin, lips...) and FOV completely absent in the remake (everything looks sharp, in the background), it's the poorly redrawn linework to set me off the most.

You mean DOF? Yeah, it does not look good..

Yeah, it looked terrible and off. I don't remember the game looking that bad?

This was one of my most favorite games. Played it a ton of times when it came out.

This and Indiana Jones Fate of Atlantis.

For some reason I never got into the other LucasArts point and click games. I should change that.

I know they're stretched, that's internet for you. Every sharp screenshot I could find was like that, but it doesn't change the fact that the "remastered" Ben is completely off model.
I didn't want to grab those frames from a youtube video because then my shots would look blurrier and horrible-er and I was sure that someone would focus on that instead of the art changes... welp.

The game looks absolutely fantastic.

Couldn't be more grateful that this remaster exists.

I wish they put out a physical release of this.

A physical bundle with Grim Fandango, Day of the Tentacle and Full Throttle would be incredible...

They were tasked with "uprezzing" the original (often easily traceable) artwork. They chose not to do that and drew their own interpretation of a classic character in a style that doesn't match the more faithful parts of this remaster. That's not exactly fantastic.

Can you switch to the original graphics like monkey island remastered?

Yes, on the fly.

I actually like the new look. It keeps the same style as the original, but smoothes everything out. But as I never played the original, I'm probably not influenced by nostalgia.

Well if Tim Schafer is agreeing with the final result then i think their task is being accomplished. Besides the original picture doesnt really give away how it should look like in a Remastered game imo.
I think they did a pretty good job.

Edit: the jawline do look a bit pointy but i like it.
