NieR: Automata |OT| "I wouldn't expect too much from this game if I were you."

I have no idea what ending Y is, I'm gonna assume it has something to do with Emil. I've done his sidequests yeah.
I'm in the middle of the secret home place,
but shit's not triggering me for me.

If you've used chapter select you have to talk to
Emil at least once before heading down there.
since chapter select resets some quest triggers.

Ah finally initiated the Emil stuff.

My PS4 has been doing weird things ever since I started playing nier, including glitched text, broken sound, and console crashes. Today I witnessed a seemingly random NPC on the B route after the A
dam
& E
ve boss fight
and I'm wondering if it's an actual part of the route or just my PS4 doing weird stuff again:

That picture is how the game is bruh.

I don't see anything out of the ordinary in that screen

Have you been to a doctor?

I'm only on Route C myself, but when I first saw that "Random NPC" during that cutscene it FREAKED ME THE HELL OUT.

WTF just happened?!? I was playing against the giant flying machine worm trying to get to Pascals village. thought since the way was blocked I should take the amusement park way and so I went that direction.. I was greeted witha message saying I went fishing, spent ten years running for my life, and then got credits, and am back at the home menu..

u ran away from fighting it

Shit just hit the fan. Just did the prologue of Route C. Looks like the real Nier Automata starts here.

I love how (start of route C)
the attract mode trailer spoils 2B's virus infection

The part near the intro of Route C when
you control 9S & the screen gradually begins to deteriorate into nothingness
was FUCKING INSANE. I thought for sure
you were supposed to lose there, but I managed to survive long enough.

It was discussed in the stream thread, but might as well leave this here:

NieR: Automata original NieR costumes and Colosseum DLC set announced

Square Enix announced the first downloadable content for NieR: Automata during its “One Million Shipments Commemoration” live stream today.

The downloadable content set will launch on May 2 for 1,500 yen in Japan, and include three original NieR-themed costumes and the Colosseum area.

From left to right, the costumes include the “High-Exposure Girl’s Clothes” (in the style of Kaine), the “Simple Boy’s Clothes” (in the style of young Nier), and the “World Destroyer Man’s Clothes” (in the style of young adult Nier).

You can enjoy the Colosseum by meeting various conditions, and clearing battles will allow you to acquire various rewards, such as costumes and hair color changes. The Colosseum has scenarios in addition to battles, as well as a considerably difficult mode for speedrun-style players.

9S looks absolutely repugnant. The prologue outfit would have been a much better choice.

Seriously guys, I can't get off the bloody roller coaster at the amusement park. What gives? There are no prompts over where the boss is to jump off. I've ridden it in circles for an hour. Any help or I'm gonna have to uninstall. I cant find a solution on the net. I've watched the YouTube videos and you seem to just jump off at the right moment. Could my copy be glitched? Thanks.

The jump should happen automatically, so yea, that's a glitch

That's honestly the first I've ever heard someone having that glitch. I'm so sorry.

If you load your save again, does it still happen? At least it's fairly early in the game I guess.

PS4 or PC?

If you are on PC, I recently started a new game so could give you a save pretty close to where you are and hopefully without the bug. You'd need to use a hex editor to copy over the first few lines of your save file (so the game can understand it), but that's the best I can think of.

I actually totally had that glitch, but it was 2nd time through during a sidequest. Got real annoyed, but a reload got me out of it.

Then it turned out that I didn't need to ride it at all. :<

Trading it in today then.

If you've been enjoying it so far, I'd say it's still worth trying a couple of potential fixes first. You were enjoying it after all and there's a lot more to see.

Reloading the save seems to have fixed it for at least one other person.

What are everyone's favorite side quests? I'm about to start Route C and have 52% complete. Want to make sure I don't miss any with great story payoffs :)

I actually liked hacking, a lot more than I was expecting. Probably because it was the only part of the game where I wasn't just killing everything with no effort because of how strong my character was.

At first I didn't like the hacking at all either, but it quickly grew on me for some reason.

There are a lot of great ones to be honest. I suggest to do most of them.

I love this game but at the same time I think it's the most frustrating game I've ever played.

Just got one of these meaningless endings out of nowhere and lost 2 hours. What to do? I'm this close to uninstall it and never touch it again.

Save frequently. You don't need to go up to the access point to do it, just being somewhere nearby and clicking the option in the pause menu will do it. The game will give you a "Saving possible!" message on the top right when you are in range.

So, I've been somewhat interested in this game and I'm considering playing it after I finish BotW. I checked the Steam forums and it seems you absolutely NEED a fan patch to be able to play in widescreen with correct aspect ratio, and there is some white screen crash that can only be solved by rolling back my Catalyst driver version? Is this true? I can't play the vanilla game on PC from beginning to end and have at least as good experience as the game on PS4? Should I even bother buying this game on PC if that's the case?
Is it known if Platinum will patch the game soon or at all?

The white screen issue is something that occurs on specific AMD cards using the newest driver (seemingly RX480's are the main one).

16x9 is fine, but 21x9 has some UI scaling issues I think. That's all as far as I know. FAR is absolutely recommended though just because it fixes the cutscene stuttering problem. It's such an easy fix that doesn't even require you to go in and manually do things like DSfix does.

There have been changes to the database so an official fix might be on its way soon, but with FAR being such an easy fix I can't see why anyone would consider the PS4 version ahead of the PC version even as it currently is. It's the best way to play the game.

Damn, I have a RX480 -_-'
I guess I'll wait for impressions after the patch happens then. Thanks.

Route A is pretty bad compared to C, mainly because it loses steam quickly after the first intriguing hours. Keep going is basically a must for these games, because the first ending is not everything that there's in the story.
If the game stopped at route A, it wouldn't get the praise it has received. Route C and beyond did that.
Thanks for the replies guys. I'll stick it through.

It seems like
9s' gameplay is just hacking and I hate the hacking mini game. Can I just run around and avoid them?

That leaves out the quests that give you the upgraded satchets. Definitely do those (Animal Care and Half-Wit Inventor).

And Heritage of the Past takes forever, but you'll get some weapons out of it and a clear connection back to the first game.

It's just a small list that someone posted. One day I hope to make (or that someone else makes) a list of all the sidequests "worth" doing.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'll stick it through.

I mean, yea, you're not forced to fight every little thing. May be underleveled though if ya keep it up.

Equip a levelled up spear. You'll OHKO little stubs without hacking. It makes it much more manageable.

Seriously, thank you all! I was starting to get a little bit of sidequest fatigue, and this helped me narrow some down that I definitely shouldn't miss. I'll likely go back and finish up the rest at *some* point.

Off to play. Again, thanks!

Just completed ending C earlier.

This is honestly one of my favourite games ever so far.

Just want to ask a quick question about getting ending D. Can I
just use chapter select to load Ch. 17-09: 9S and A2, and pick 9S to get the ending, or do I need to start fresh from the start
?

Yes, that's what you're supposed to do. Ending E progresses naturally from Ending D, so don't worry about that either. Enjoy the ride, and don't give up!

I came to ask essentially the same as I finished Route C last night & I'm about to play more. I do have another question though, can anyone summarize the story of this game up to Ending C? I feel like I understand bits & parts but I'm still VERY confused. Pretty much the last arc of C was all.....WAT for me.

Ideally, we could answer everything once you've beaten the game in the spoiler, unless you have some specific questions you want answered

Thanks. =D

Well, I guess I'll just wait to see how everything plays out then. The game is amazing - I truly feel sorry for anyone who stopped after just playing through Ending A.
