Persona 5 |OT2| Someone must have been helping you go to bed early. Talk!

Boss is pretty boring conceptually but I actually had a blast fighting it.

It's basically a baton pass fest. Make sure to cover most elements with personas with good magic stat and you should be fine. Having bonded with Hifumi for the in-battle teammate switching ability helps a lot too, it's the only time I've used it.

How am I supposed to survive
Big Bang Challenge
? I managed to once but got fucked the 2nd time around even with defense-up active.

Just guard or if a party member is in hunger status leave them be and get a surprise

O wait you said hard mode idk if just guarding will work

Ideally you should stop them from doing it every time, I can't really remember if it ever hit me or my MC dodged, but rakukaja and tarunda should do... HOWEVER there's a twist
if you have the hunger status when big bang hits you, you'll recover HP instead

Can someone remind me how persona's impact the MC? Like, does the endurance affect his defense? Are his melee attacks impacted by their strength?

Ok, am I doing something wrong ? why can't I hang out with any of my confidants while on the network people are doing this? Like some people are hanging out with 4 separate people when I can't even find one person to hang out with?

Guard. Also make use of buffs/debuffs like Tarunda and Rakukaja to make it do less if needed.

I was so confused for s second here and was like what does that
little outside of dungeons activity
has anything to do with buffs/debuffs lol.

Never really read the name of that special attack.

Yes Persona is like an equipment on it's own.

Are you between finding the route to the treasure and actually going to steal it? You can't hang out with teammates between those things.

Tarunda is a thing, you know. It seems like people are using Ann strictly for her Agi skills only while forgetting all her other ones, hahah.

I've quickly gone from 'I don't have much pity for Morgana' to 'Fuck Morgana'.

Mid-September spoilers:

Morgana is

a) Running off on his own in violation of the Phantom Thieves's full agreement compact
b) Doing so out of petty jealousy and insecurity of all things
c) Inducting somebody he met at random as a Persona user and feeding them a false narrative to carry out his violation of the compact
d) Acting smug and justified, guilt tripping the others in the party over his actions
e) Has guilt tripped Ann into forcing Ryuji to apologize to him(dafuq? If anything the cat should apologize) and most importantly,
f) The little shit is eating up days I could be social linking due to his acting out

Fuck that cat, he can
stay out of the Phantom Thieves for good when he inevitably comes crawling back >: |
. Sadly, I don't think the game will let me

EDIT: Nope, it didn't. I'm going to punt that cat like a football, given the chance
EDIT2: You get a pass. For now, out of pity. You're on probation, cat

Really could use the cards for the Heavy versions of these spells now. Also need to get Concentrate. Might toss those null elements for the magic buff passive skills whenever I come across them. That pointless Physical skill needs to go.

Decisions, decisions.

Definitely don't worry about fusing Persona unless they have a skill coming you know you want and you're keeping them equipped to get it. Unless they have Growth (II/III) they level to slowly to get all their skills from casual use. You'll get most of your "perfect" compendium persona from fusing them with massive arcana bursts late in the game as fusion fodder to fill the gaps in your compendium.

Especially so on in this game where your max stock is story gated.

Edit - Finished the first palace last night. Gotta say the boss was much easier relative to the Palace than was the case in P4G.
He Telepgraphs his best attacks , doesn't exploit any weaknesses and only uses a buff that you're forced to have a counter too always available.
By contrast the palace was much harder than P4Gs first palace, since the fixed layout, patrol routes and alertness level make evasion of combat close to impossible. It also feels significantly longer and the enemies more brutal with large groups of Marin Karinning enemies towards the end, as well as reinforcement users. I think I could probably have done some more levelling / yen grind in the palace before fighting him but the payout didn't really seem worth it.

Palace 2's boss was pretty tough, didn't have time to apply much buffing, just countering the boss's.

Temperance is messed up. On many levels.

It's been a while but I'm pretty sure that the attack will heal you rather than hurt you if you have the hunger debuff up, which makes sense considering the nature of the attack. Guarding also works, of course, as it does with every attack that's broadcast to you a turn in advance.

You won't have any difficulty maxing Sojiro, Takemi, Futaba, Makoto, or Yusuke. They're all but guaranteed with the ranks you've got them at now. Haru should be possible too if you get your proficiency up quickly.

Maxing Haru might be hard if you don't raise your proficiency soon. You should be able to get rank 7.

If you devote enough time to getting your proficiency up and Haru, you'd be able to max her without the Fortune bonuses, but with them you'd get it done much sooner and with time to spare on other confidants.

Managed to rank up my Proficiency to Max by 11/3 - so from here on I'll be focusing on my confidants, hanging out with Haru whenever available. (And other confidants in order of lowest-to-highest rank when she isn't.)

Should I still bother with ranking up Chihaya at night? Once I have Sojiro out of the way, the only real option then will be Iwai, and I've yet to get a single customizable gun.

Yep, getting the Hunger debuff is key. Or just cast defense up on everyone and guard.

Is there a reason i should romance any one particular person? I always romanced everyone I could in the previous games because I found it funny. Should I do this more strategically?

Finishing Mementos miiiiight be a good idea.

Romancing multiple girls makes you a horrible monster, but beyond that there's no min/max benefit to romancing one vs. romancing everyone vs. not romancing anyone, to my knowledge.

I just had my first chance to start romancing. The indecision is crippling. Maybe date all of them, and pick my actual favorite on NG+....?

It's gonna be Makoto

Inbetween completing palace 4 and decide to do the Moon Confidant storybeat
of course the eccentric is fucking yusuke I literally had to put the controller and look at a wall for a min. Everything about this kid is the definition of troll. He breaks the 4th wall, has his own conversations, does random shit in public.

8.5 hours in so far. Geez, I put in a lot of hours in the past 24 hours. No wonder I'm tired...

Either I've gotten worse at Persona or this is a bit harder than 4 for me. I just finished the first palace on easy in one day, but I did it with the skin of my teeth. And, man, do I feel beat. I'm still struggling with the cover system, and when to pull back from cover, but I'm getting better. I hated negotiations in P2, and I hate them here, but I feel it is a bit more forgiving, at least. I'm not quite feeling my four main characters yet, but it is still so early.

So, the first dungeon in P4 was the most difficult for a lot of players. Is that the consensus here as well? Are all the palaces roughly the same length?

12/24:
I guess I should have seen this coming that I'd end up having to fight the congnitive unconciousness of society to set things right. Kinda crazy. Already loving the final palace look and music, even though I haven't actually progressed. I assume this is the last area I'll have access to fusing new persona before the game ends?

Phew, that second boss was hard AF...that was a pretty tough battle...and I was still unable to find the weakness 😩
If you think that one was hard, you are in for a rude awakening in the third dungeon.

Pretty sure that boss doesn't have a weakness:
Eyes can only be hit by physical, mouth only by magic, and nose by either.

One beef I have with bosses in this game: The whole game you are told to find the weakness (which could be a thing they are weak to, or might just be using buffs/debuffs/reflection/whatever), but then bosses just kind of throw that rule out the window.

Example (4th palace boss):
You can't hit her with physical because she is flying around,
then you do the ballista and shoot her down, and then you can just keep hitting her for a few turns. At first I was using magic, then decided on a whim to use a physical skill and it did about 4-5 times the damage. Yet she isn't weak to phys. It kind of just breaks it's own rules here where something is more effective on it, but it isn't actually it's weakness.
It just kind of breaks it's own rules where something is more effective even though they aren't actually weak to it. I don't mind the cinematic stuff in the bosses, but throwing the game's rules out the window in favor of them is pretty stupid.

I just don't think I'll ever trust status ailments in a JRPG. I used the skill that raised status susceptibility on the coffin enemy in the 4th dungeon, and then every time I tried a high chance status ailment it missed.

Status ailments like sleep, confuse etc never work on "key" enemies. If it's an enemy you have to kill to move forward then status ailments of that kind aren't going to work on it. You can use the ones that lower resistance to particular elements though, those work OK.

One beef I have with bosses in this game: The whole game you are told to find the weakness (which could be a thing they are weak to, or might just be using buffs/debuffs/reflection/whatever), but then bosses just kind of throw that rule out the window.

It's a pity there isn't a spell you can use which will actually lower an elemental resistance enough that they'd actually be weak to it.
