Momodora V teaser trailer

Whoa that's cool! I did not expect a 3D title. I recently picked up the PS4 Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight and really dig it. Here's hoping this one comes to consoles too.

Do you need to play past Momodora titles in order to get engaged with IV?

no, it's completely self-contained. it's a prequel to Momodora III but requires no knowledge of it (there's a neat reference in III to the events of IV, though, so maybe better to do it in that order?). I haven't played I or II.

Going 3D ? What a mistake :/
They're coming from a lovely 2D pixel art to a clumsy 3D game :/

I am going to give them the benefit of the doubt on making a PSX era-ish title that will be great.

Now its a full 3D platformer? Strange, I thought it would be a full 2.5D game or at least contain 2D levels.

It does look amazing though.

Ah man that looks so much worse than the awesome 2D games, it reminds me of seeing SNES series' moving to N64

I hope it's good though

I wasn't expecting a 3D game. I'm sure it will be on par with the other Momodora games but I'll miss the 2D artstyle.

Thanks! I should check out both soon.

I'm sure I'll buy it because of how much I enjoyed IV and it'll probably be a good game, but I echo the thought that it's such a massive downgrade visually.

I won't lie, the animations could be better, but otherwise this could be a really fun game! They've got my attention. I should probably go and play the one before this, I just have so much backlog to take care of, haha.

Haven't played 4 yet, but it looks awesome and is something high on my list of games to play in the near future.

This looks really cheap in comparison.

I'll admit this teaser kinda worries me, since the previous Momodora was a beautiful looking game with really fun combat that nailed down a 2d almost-dark souls style feeling.

The 3d and animations look all kinds of clumsy, though it's early days still--maybe they'll polish things up and wow us all. I want to belieeeeeve

Cautiously hyped, though I wonder if Unreal engine would have been a better choice. Nier: Automata is proof that global illumination can make mediocre assets punch above their weight.

Following a super tight looking and animated pixel art platformer to something that looks like an Amnesia Fortnight title :/ Granted this may be early footage but for a teaser trailer it's not hitting the right buttons. Only this honest as I really loved the polish of the last game.

That said I could see how a low poly interpretation might look nice but it would be with a more flat palette and look and better animations.

Not sure if this is the direction I want to see, but I hope they deliver a good game. This is early footage, so I expect to see improvements on the future.

Looking awful in this cheap 3d style. Oh well, Momodora 4 was pretty nice game (especially after lackluster M3)

It's not Unreal, but Persona 5's another example of lighting and shading saving what would otherwise be really bad models.

I like the visual ideas is going for but there is a lot of polishing to do. It can be great if they nail it but it looks rather early in development. I remember Momodora IV before and after release improvements and Im sure this will end up looking and moving better than it does now.

This thing looks like its years away from release.

I could really go for a lofi 3D arpg but it's hard to get a feel for what kind of combat they're going for.

Probably because it is:

Not feeling it, sadly. I know it's early days yet, so I'm willing to give the team the benefit of the doubt and hope they end up polishing the hell out of it, 'cause it looks really stiff and janky.

I realize it's early footage, but the very idea of Momodora in 3D has me skeptical... and that's coming from a big fan.

Didn't expect to see news of a new Momodora this soon, and certainly didn't expect it to be in 3D.

I definitely like the visual style it has going for it. I'm looking forward to see how it turns out, however many years away that may be.
