But it's not "decorations" hidden away in the tech section of Target. It's them taking over really the things everyone will see who shop. whether it's tech, movies, food, bedding, clothes, etc

Which will drive awareness and sales.

It's a public testament of how serious Nintendo is with this system. It certainly has side effects in 3rd party boarding rooms, or at other retailers who will increase their own Switch promotion.

I just went through all of your post history, just for fun since you have 40 posts.

I only see praise for Microsoft, praise for Scorpio and Phil Spencer.

Only time you ''''praised'''' Nintendo is by saying ''Adding Nintendo to the list'' while explaining why MS need more exclusives. Any other time you mention the Switch is to criticize it and saying you won't buy it because there's only one game.

Yeah, you're right, it's not worth all this attention anyway.

I wonder if Nintendo will do a similar marketing in Canada but with another retailer, since, like explained earlier here, Target died in 2015.

I still find it crazy just how badly Target bombed in Canada, but a different partnership would be neat! It sure seems like Nintendo is going all out on MK8D so I wouldn't be surprised at all!

This is damn cool. Nintendo doing marketing right, for a game that deserves it. The Wii U's low sales meant that a criminally low number of people got exposed to this amazing video game.

As frustrated as I get with Nintendo's business decisions, and as infinitely annoyed I get by stupid fanboys, I do wish the Switch a lot of success. And MK8D is the next step in helping that success.

Man... Day one sales might be limited due to the initial install base of Switch, but I have a feeling this game will be a best seller during the holidays. If parents don't buy it now they'll certainly have the game on their mind for later in the year.

Wow, this is some massive marketing, to decorate more than a third of all Target supermarkets in the US. You can tell Nintendo are going all out on marketing the Switch and its games, which is a good thing.

This explains why Target is suddenly lighting up on the stock tracker. They are probably pushing extra switch hardware to Target over the next few weeks.

If Nintendo don't have a significant increase of systems available by MK8D, they have messed up, bigly.

It's an ever green title, sure, but this is a massive opportunity to grow the install base and keep excitement around the system.

They've always known this. Nintendo likely had tons of pre-launch date that showed Wii U wasn't going to be a success, so they budgeted their marketing accordingly. They've since spent years making sure Switch would not suffer the same fate and created a product that would appeal to consumers in all the ways Wii U did not.

Yeah ports is nothing new lol. Everyone across the world has done it for the longest and it's more prevalent nowadays with everyone. MK8DX should definitely outsell MK8 and with advertising like this it guarantees it.

Man, this game is so great, in so many ways. So much attention to detail and "little" touches, too. I recently imported the soundtrack from Japan (listening to it right now), and I LOVE

- how all four "Animal Crossing" tracks are matched perfectly to their season.
- Dolphin Shoals has an underwater (xylophone?) version and a brassy over-water version
- Cloudtop Cruise switches from a brass version to a mean electric guitar, keeping the same melody throughout
- F-Zero!

I can go on and on. Amazing soundtrack overall.

I think the point is that Nintendo is getting overpraised for ports and remasters after Sony and MS got shit on for it, probably by some of the "Nintendo-praisers" in this very thread.

I may have (did) just woke up prior to that :p

but yeah.. I mean I look at all of the "ports" in history.. GTA V probably being the most notable.. maybe Mario 64 DS or Zelda OoT 3DS as well.. just realizing the amount of life those ports breathed into those games. In the latter two cases, bring an entirely new generation to those games, etc.

I don't think MS or Sony ever caught shit for it. I remember both getting pointed out that their launches were filled mostly with cross-generation titles, but that wasn't "nintendo-praisers" as much as people justifying why they weren't transitioning to the new generation.

In fact I'd say most ports of well received titles are anxiously looked forward to on those systems.
