Sony Playstation: First Party Studios & their Current Projects

Sucker punch is the likeliest to show their game this e3 and that western game pics leaked weren't theirs.

I hope bend has their horizon moment with days gone. Been a long time coming.
and also so they can add it to the notch of gaf being horrible at predicting anything

And lastly after looking at the npd thread I'm tempted to go into any exclusives sales milestones thread (particularly games that I'm not too fond off) and downplay their success as hard as possible by giving idiotic reasons like X publisher were lying about their numbers or the numbers were disappointing considering their userbase;)
I'm only being half serious with this one

Just a gut feeling that their E3 will be more like 2014 as opposed to 2015 and 2016. Sony has shown so much that it's time to focus on what's already been announced as opposed to showing games that's literally years away. Also, wasn't 2014 the first year of Sony's deals with Activision for COD and Destiny? If so, that's another reason.

Sony has a LOT already which could probably fill up 90 minutes easily. Add in more announced games and it becomes even longer.

Another reason being that if SP new IP is indeed a western based game, why would Sony show it if they have the marketing deal for RDR2 and will show that at E3? If RDR2 is at Sony's press conference, SP new IP will be completely ignored and forgotten by most. No reason to have their new IP overshadowed by RDR2. Better off saving it for PSX or E3 2018. If it's NOT a western based game, then I would say that it's 50/50.

lol, 2014 got us Bloodborne, Ratchet & Clank, LittleBigPlanet 3, Infamous: First Light, Entwined and an Uncharted 4 re-reveal. I could do with another one of those.

Have they said how this game will adapt to people who are unimaginative like me
I think the best part of this game is that you can just be playing around with the vast amount of functionalities like multiply, flip, rotate and what and accidentally come across things like "hey wait, that weird thing I made, looks great when it's repeated or arranged in a circle, it looks like some sort of cool design someone purposefully made". They've basically been making the tools as flexible as possible so it doesn't feel like you have to think much about what you're doing. You may have set out to just build a door or something, but the tools can make it so easy for you to manipulate that object, it can lead you off into weird tangents that you honestly weren't thinking of (or could have ever though of without these tools) to begin with.

And of course, there will still be a game to play for folks who don't want to create, and you can play other players' creations as well.
So is Wild dead?
No. Still actively being worked on. Check out. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=234440549&postcount=8142

If SP's game is a western, we need it shown for the "Is Sony's First Party Studios copying Red Dead Redemption" Threads.

SP is the most likely studio to be there.
Followed by Pixel and something Sony Japan related, most likely Bloodborne 2.

I was bored so I made a new prediction list for this years E3.

RDR2 should be a lock for Sony's presser though, I'd legit be surprised if it's not there. Saying that, Sony has too many of the main big games. Battlefront, COD, RDR2. I'm assuming Microsoft will have Ass Creed and what else for this fall?

E3 2016 we got a lot of announcements and gameplay with a live orchestra and that conference only lasted 60 minutes I'm sure they can do the same thing again this year and fit it into 90 minutes with 3rd party deals.

If Sucker Punch is doing a western game I hope it's something absurd and over the top like Cowboys vs. Aliens. Open-world where you play as a sci-fi enhanced cowboy gunslinger has the same "so random it's amazing" feel going for it as robot dinosaurs.

Do you mean Knack 2? The Dark Souls of platformer.

Regarding SP, i hope it's not set in modern real city like Infamous. Western, fantasy, or cyberpunk would be great.

I've mentioned it earlier in this thread but I had the thought that Sucker Punch could make something similar to the original Prey 2 from Human Head. A cyber-punk bounty hunting game that takes advantage of their ability to design amazing traversal and combat mechanics. Something like that with a comic book flair could be special.

But let's be real, none of us are going to be able to guess what their game actually is.

Bloodborne was good. Uncharted 4 was already known. R&C is good but a remake of the original, LBP3 was a cross gen port, I:FL was a dlc add on and Entwined was a cross gen indie title. Outside of Bloodborne, this is a below average show and compared to 2013, 2015 and 2016, you could even say crappy.

Sony literally has too much to show and while adding to it would be great and exciting, they simply don't need to do that. They can easily have the best press conference and showing yet again without showing anything new or unexpected.

I'm more interested in seeing what has already been announced the last few years get more time with a good long gameplay video and a release date. New and unannounced stuff doesn't worry me because I know that stuff is coming but I prefer to see more of the stuff that's closer to release than what it isn't.

Just my preference. I'll enjoy the conference either way as long as I get release dates for a few games.

You know, I actually agree that I'm not as big of a fan of 2014's show as far as how much it excited me, but sometimes I feel like there's a tendency to create distinctions that don't really matter.

Uncharted 4 was known, but we saw no footage of it. The first trailer was a voice over and some stuff, but basically just a trailer to let us know it was being developed. The 2014 trailer looked amazing and was ominous. In 2016, I already knew about Horizon and Last Guardian, but I was thrilled to see the new footage/trailers.

R&C being a remake means nothing. The end product was a game that played differently, with newer levels and a completely new story. It's like saying Resident Evil GC was just a remake. You're getting a different experience playing it than the PS1 version.

LBP3 being on PS3 as well doesn't mean anything. I agree that it's not something that made me ultra-excited or gave me a reaction like Horizon, God of War, Last Guardian or Spider-Man did, but it had nothing to do with a PS3 version existing. Same with Entwined, which by definition isn't indie since it's published by Sony.

First Light was an expansion, yes, but again, I don't see how that really matters. Brood War was an expansion, and it ended up being one of my favorite stories I've experienced in a video game. I'm not putting First Light in that category, but the fact that it's an expansion doesn't really matter; it's basically its own game, and it's quite a fun one.

Basically, I don't think the reasons you mentioned had to do with why the show wasn't exciting; I'd put more of it on just the games not being as exciting and the show slowing down for that last 10 - 15 minutes before the Uncharted 4 trailer.

With the games on the horizon and not yet announced, I can't imagine the show being similar to 2014.

Based on history there's nothing to suggest RDR will be there. It's right to remain a maybe tbh. The only reason I have personally gone from "no chance" to "maybe" is that E3 is the last chance to hear about the game if they intend to stick with 2017.

Since Japan Studio is comprised of a metric fuck-ton of people, I think they'll have a new game ready shortly after Knack 2 and Hot Shots Golf are released.

Of course, pie-in-the-sky me wants a console JRPG from the studio, but really, that doesn't seem like it would happen any time soon.

I just want more Japan Studio games.

Already a proud and happy PS4 owner.

All Sony gotta do is keep the ball rolling and man... if they could drop the PS4 Pro to $300 then even more hype.

As great as Second Son looked, it would be kinda cool to see Sucker Punch go back to cell shading and really try to push that style to new levels on current tech.

Regardless, I'm really excited to see what they've been cooking. I really thought we'd have seen something by now, and kind of expected that after 3 years we'd already be really close to their next release.

Yoooo, yes! I like that most of Sony's titles have fairly unique styles (mainly via world design, stylistic choices and so on) but cell-shading is definitely something they need.

Just in general, I think more stuff like R&C is good to have. But personally, cell-shaded stuff in the vein of Splatoon or Breath of the Wild would be fantastic to see.

$199 PS4
$299 PS4 Pro

They'd be able to withstand the Scorpio/Switch holiday onslaught at those prices, possibly even win some of those holiday NPDs.

Stuck in a dreams hype loop. Watching all the live streams while I study haha

The search function is absolutely insane being able to search up a person and picking one of his creations he/she registered online is great.

I don't think it's crazy to think they're working on a JRPG. I assumed Becker coming in was so they could work on bigger projects internally.

It's like, the rest of the top studios at Sony have their BIG SHINY AAA FUCK YEA game, but Japan Studio has pumped out a bunch of smaller scale project, but at a faster rate mind you.

I'd love for Japan Studio to have that big JRPG that blows everyone away. Something everyone can mention in the same breath as the new God of War, TLOU Part 2, and Horizon: Zero Dawn.

Or, they can keep doing what they're doing. A man can dream though. They're my favorite Sony first party studio.

Huh, I thought that was them. Still, they have a ton of people. I doubt they're all working on Knack 2 lol.

Of course they're not all working on Knack 2 but they just released The Last Guardian and Gravity Rush 2, you seriously think they've got a fourth AAA game lined up to be shown? Not going to happen.

A new IP from FromSoft is far more likely.

He never actually said it was from Japan Studio, people just made that up and ran with it. My assumption, back when I thought it was going to happen, was that it'd be a Level 5 game.

I didn't say AAA, but I think they've got more stuff in the works definitely. If nothing else, they are a very productive bunch.

Wow, sly cooper in green :)

There's an entire campaign for you too enjoy and other levels by an amazing community if I go off of the lbp community. If you wanna create there are already assets available both created by Mm or players you can take and store into a level without you sculpting your own

This game wasnt in my radar, but the more I'm reading about it, the more i'm liking it.
