I posted these in the Coachella thread yesterday but after listening to The Dark Knight Trilogy medley about 100 times since then I felt compelled to make a new thread.

From roughly 4:50 to 9:00 in the TDK performance is pure bliss (bookended mainly by Joker and Bane's themes). The Inception medley is also great, featuring Dream Is Collapsing and Mombasa.

Anyway, stop what you're doing, turn up the volume, and listen to these.

Been rocking out to this since yesterday. Dude can bring it. Wish I had known about his tour, would've tried to get tickets to that.

Chuckling at the head banging cello player.

Yeah, but she's pretty awesome in her own right.

I keep hoping they just upload the rest of his set. He did Time apparently as well. Would love to see it.

hearing the Pirates theme in person was fucking incredible. i'm sad i left before the superhero stuff cuz I wanted to hear the Wonder Woman theme, but what I heard was great. (Inception, Pirates, Gladiator, Lion King)

Was getting caught part of your plan?
I'm watching the Pirates set right now and Tina's expressions look like she's achieved reaching some other astral dimension lol

Also TDK suite reminded me why I fell in love with those movies.

I'm sure I'd love to see The Gladiator battle er... Black Hawk Down er... Pirates of The Caribbean theme performed live. I half-kid of course.

I just hope he didn't overuse the horn of doom or the BWAAM though. I'm sure the live show was spectacularly well-done, though.

Just been reminded how boring the Inception score was. One of the lowlights of his recent work.

Still not as boring or annoying as most of MOS or BVS loud noise underscore though, especially that loud so-called "Zod theme", that Junkie XL helped compose. I'm not a fan of lot of Zimmer's recent work (I do like Interstellar & Sherlock Holmes though), but even those scores left me cold. They were just so poor in general IMO.

I wouldn't mind seeing some of his work performed live though, especially Chevaliers De Sangreal or No Time For Caution, but sadly he's not touring anywhere close to where I am.

Inception is one of his best scores though. I forgot the track title, might be mombasa, but it's the one with the guitar that sounds like chase music. So God damn good. And time of course is awesome as well. The man is a god at setting the pace of suspenseful scenes

His Coachella set got hype when the pirates theme hit. Also loved the gladiator and dark knight theme drops too

Man of Steel and interstellar are great too. And black hawk down of course. And lion King. And prince of Egypt. And lone Ranger. Too many to name. His best is still thin red line for me though But that might have been too slow for a Coachella crowd

This might be the coolest rendition ever of Pirates. Holy crap.

Would love to see that live, there is a great video of another live rendition of He's a Pirate which is amazing.
Also love his True Romance soundtrack

Wanna know a funny thing? He almost never uses that. It's always other composers who are stunting his style that tend to use it more.

Also, I think I'm the only bloke who thinks the Zod theme is one of the more memorable villain themes in last decade. And this is coming from a guy who doesn't think about the rest of the MoS soundtrack at all.

The horn of doom is featured throughout some of his scores, it's all over MOS and Inception (where it originated), for example. It and bwaam are featured in other scores not composed by Zimmer because they're either done by one of his protege, or it's being used as a temp-track, because time is a popular temp-track choice.

To me Zod's theme just sounded like sound design, but you're free to like it of course. I know plenty of people who like it as well, and more power to em.

For MOS, well I guess that goes to show how much I don't care about the other pieces on that soundtrack for me not to remember that heh.

For Inception, it actually had a function in that movie's script, given that aspect of slowed time throughout the entire movie such as when he took an Edith Piaf song, slowed it down to the extreme and worked with that. He also applies it well to his other leimotifs, which is a shame because they never released a complete score to the movie that really emphasizes it.

The problem now is that most people -- be it composers or other filmmakers -- misinterpreted that to "LIKE EPIC" (because it kinda is anyway) and just went with that. Even Zimmer himself has said at some point that he's fed up with it. And to his credit, with Interstellar, 12 Years A Slave and The Little Prince, he seems to be straying from those kinds of OSTs.

I saw his show in Vegas last Friday. Fucking AMAZING.

He performs music from The Lion King, Thin Red Line, Pirates of the Caribbean, Gladiator, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Man of Steel, Wonder Woman's theme, Interstellar, Inception, Crimson Tide, Da Vinci Code, etc

He closes the show with Interstellar and Inception.

We saw him live in LA, was awesome! You will have a blast. :)

Saw it last night. Great time.

Highlights for me were the Gladiator section (they brought original vocalist across from Australia) and Interstellar (though that suffered a little not having an actual organ).

Flight from Man of Steel was also great.
