How did Murray win over McGinn in the first place?

Seemed like a competent, but liberal manager type to get transit and housing sorted, turns out he was actually just a densification greedy bastard developer proxy - barely even hides it anymore.

I welcome density, but Murray is just letting the developers do whatever they want without any consideration of the ramifications.

And they continue to build in areas that are desirable BECAUSE they're neighborhoody, instead of killing two birds with one stone and fixing the garbage one story morass of the Aurora corridor which is a) Convenient as hell for a lot of reasons and b) Begging to be thoughtfully redeveloped and c) A massive Delete repeated word collection of would-be desirable land and lots that could become a long jewel of efficiency and cleverness in North Seattle. it would also benefit the traditional neighborhoods that are currently divided by it, instead of connected to it.

She has a lot of good points I agree with, but you know she's got a huge uphill battle compared to her competitors.

Her push to eliminate the SPD is a bit much for me, to be honest.

The first time I said "yeah, but fuck those guys" I was being mostly facetious, and now you lob me this soft ball?!

With the tunnel now completed, who knows, maybe that might even work in McGinn's favor?

The drilling is completed, the tunnel is still a couple years out I think.

I followed up with a post to gauge interest and absolutely nobody replied/acknowledged it, so I just assumed the freeze is real and continued posting as usual.

I responded.

but yeah the freeze is real, and I grew up here.

Near the Downtown Transit Tunnel is completely blocked off because of two police shootings. Does anyone know what happened? I was walking near my house on Capitol Hill and there were a ton of firetrucks and police vehicles racing down Olive Way.

I'm sure it has nothing to do with the open drug dealing that goes on unabated and unpoliced right there. Or the profusion of mentally ill homeless with no support. Or the rampant alcoholism. or the teenage gangs swiping every third iphone. Or the car prowlers breaking windows in broad daylight.

Cops responded to a robbery and two of them got shot.

Oh yeah, went to the MoPOP and just walked around Seattle a bit on Tuesday and it was pretty cool. That Nintendo Indie exhibit was pretty sad though, I was hoping for something that touched on development or game history a little more but it was just a bunch of random indie games to play. All the Wii Us gave me a good chuckle though. Definitely have to go back whenever they revamp the Horror section.

Aurora over by Northgate or 85th is my go to gas fill up spot and is a quick drive from Eastlake. I did see one new apartment building going up.

I do agree that should be an easy spot to build up. Replace the small run down stores with new apartments and mixed use apartment buildings. The good and the bad is that they won't be able to charge 3500 for a two bedroom but which is also the reason why there hasn't been a huge push to build.

Exactly, but a smart developer, instead of paying $800k for a corner lot in greenlake and squeezing four units into it, could buy a massive stripmall for half that, and put quintuple the number of units in, and even create some ACTUAL affordable housing, instead of the pretend affordable housing they put in now. And hey, get this, rooom for parking!

Damn, are those really the prices? That's McDonalds level.

I realize this doesn't make snese, but for some reason five dollars worth of Dick's fries and burgers is a LUDICROUS amount of food, compared to that same five dollars at McDs.

2 Deluxes is serious food coma territory for me. That's my go to on the rare occasion I go to Dick's because I need to dull the pain of the corporeal world.

I think they are Tardis burgers. Like, they feel heavy and massy in your hand, but once they hit your gut it feels like you may have ingested neutron star material and you lay down on your couch, feeling wretched yet sated.

2 deluxes, a cheeseburger, a fry and chocolate milkshake is standard fare for me.

I actually might just hop on by for dinner.

My daughter and I always stop at Dicks after the zoo and take it to Fremont Brewing. I used to get two Deluxes but now I just get two cheeseburgers and call it good.

I should try Dicks fries huh? It looks like the fries and shakes are gluten free (I have celiac disease T-T) and usually stick to Red Robin, Five Guys without a bun, or Burgermaster but I can't have fries there :/

You are not, I also love it :) Hope we get even more this/next year.

No! This "winter" was dreadful. Give me the sun. As a former chicago-an I appreciated the lack of snow and general 30-40's F weather but the overcast and constant rain was too much!
