To be perfectly fair, when we talk about announcement to release, that usually does not take into account development time for a lot of studios.
So Fallout 4 for example started development before Skyrim was even out, but launched quite close to its announcement just because they announced it very late in development.
Nomura himself said right after they announced the KH3 in 2013 that it was too early to have announced it, but they made the decision specifically to sate those people who had been asking for years where KH3 was.
If they had announced it in 2015 or even 2016, it probably would have been better i agree, but it doesn't change the development pipeline of how far it took them to get to this point
I mean, the game would have been announced "too early" if it had released late 2015. That's two and a half years after announcement. If the game doesn't come out in 2017, that's 4 and a half years after announcement. And honestly, it's 50/50 if the game is coming in 2018. They JUST missed the winter announcement. Going off of what's currently happening, if the game had been announced THIS YEAR, it still would be considered "too early" for a ton of people.
If they were on track, they wouldn't have missed their winter announcement. The amount of time it takes for them to make the game doesn't have much to do with having troubles though. of course we know they did early on with the engine which set them back almost a year, but they are on track now.
All indications are for a big blowout for the 15th anniversary IMO
If they were on track, they wouldn't have missed their winter announcement.
They haven't given an explanation as to why they missed the winter announcement. They could have easily said "hey sorry we missed it, everything's fine expect a big surprise at e3".To be fair, the announcement was based on Kingdom Hearts 2.8 being released on time. Final Fantasy XV's delay caused 2.8 to be delayed and in turn you could say it also delayed the announcement. Nomura's gone on record saying he wanted people to get through 2.8 before he brought in some KH3 news. My take is because it got pushed back they decided to just give the next big infodrop for KH3 at E3.
First it was ffxv delay, than it was I wanna give 0.2 the spotlight, than it was focus on the collection. If no blowout at e3 idk what anybody could possibly say. The winter announcement should now be a legit substantial 10 page spread cover article by thanIf they were on track, they wouldn't have missed their winter announcement.
Not only did they miss it, but they gave no explanation for why they missed it.

Instead there's silence. Not too reassuring
All I see is that these games on right side can be launched in FY2018 (Apr 2017 to Mar 2018).
That includes FFVII Remake and KH3.
Nomura's probably going to be booted off either KHIII or FFVIIR. Why put him in charge of two projects when he couldn't get his last major one done?

Blind loyalty. He needs somebody in charge of him leading the projects so they don't have to be rebooted.

I would argue 5 year+ dev times are the proof but, well if Yasue/Osaka team and CC2 are doing the heavy lifting, what is even Nomura's purpose at this point? He's not sitting on them OH MY GOD.
Guys, guys...you keep repeating the same things but let me ask you
What the heck do you people think CC2 and Osaka team are flipping doing
Tai yasue has Osaka team completely on his own, nomura does not direct the project that is KH3 day to day! He is more like creative director for that project. Further, CC2 is a very competent studio and have been assigned a challenge.
There is literally no proof of Nomura being incompetent as a director to the point where this FUD is justified
I would argue 5 year+ dev times are the proof but, well if Yasue/Osaka team and CC2 are doing the heavy lifting, what is even Nomura's purpose at this point?
Exactly. To SIT and likely introduce new random critiques and challenges to the team that push the dev time further and further into Jetsons territory.

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't FY2017 end March this year? I can't remember how the fiscal year calendar goes.
I'm not sure what booting Nomura from a project he's not involved with on a daily basis would accomplish. Maybe you can fill the blanks for me on that one.
As for FFVII Remake, I'm not sure what booting Nomura from that would accomplish either? I'm honestly confused here. The game is obviously going to take time to develop and they obviously announced it not long after it was greenlit.
The issue with KH3 and FFVIIR is that they were announced far too early.
It would be hilarious if this was the true reason.Every time Disney releases a new box office hit movie franchise, Kingdom Hearts 3 gets delayed by 6 months.
Please stop, Disney.
FY2017 goes from April 2017 to March of 2018

No, this is FY2018.
He is the director of for FF7R by CC2 and the game was announced less than 2 years ago. What are you really expecting outside of arguably more status updates?
As for 5+ year dev times, KH3 was announced 3 and a half years ago, not "5+". It will be 4 at E3, and there were setbacks in their development schedule because they had to redo the game with a completely new engine which put them almost a year behind schedule, maybe more than that.
Again, Osaka team is day to day managed by Tai Yasue, CC2 is being managed by Nomura. He keeps tabs on Osaka team's progress but they generally do their own thing.
It would be hilarious if this was the true reason.
Disney releases a big hitter, KH3 goes back to the drawing board to see if a potential world could exist from the new movie.
A Moana world would give me huge Wind Waker vibes if done correctly.
So a reboot?
...and no Dissidia either. :/

"I might sound a little condescending here, but he seemed like a very dedicated artist back during Final Fantasy 7. I dont know what about 7 itself, or perhaps it was actually Final Fantasy 8 that changed the tide, but he seemed to become a very different person at that point, where the authority that he gained from Final Fantasy 7 and Final Fantasy 8 got to a point where he became sort of untouchable in a similar vein as Sakaguchi-san. You couldnt really fight against him."
Maybe him being untouchable slows everything to a crawl, even if they won't fire him or try to force him to work faster.
That quote does line up real fucking well with Osaka telling him Flowmotion was a bad idea and him shoving it in anyway
7RE ok fine, we'll see how it turns out although I doubt it releases before my firstborn child. I'm not too thrilled about it specifically. He is the director of CC2 for FF7R and the game was announced less than 2 years ago. What are you really expecting outside of arguably more status updates?

I mean if that was the reason I would be totally okay with that and would be extremely patient in waiting! I just really want a Star Wars world in any shape or form. Even just a secret boss battle with Darth Vader or Kylo Ren would be awesome.I wouldn't be surprised if it was a reason, heh.
I mean, let's think about it. If KH3 is going to contain a Star Wars world, presumably with the new trilogy characters and story, then they would have had to wait until 2015 or so when The Force Awakens content/characters would have been finalised for the movie itself before beginning to implement them in the game. Now maybe add in a Marvel world or two from recent box office hits and bam, more development time.
(this probably isn't the reason)
