If they are going to go through with it, I can only imagine that they're already bracing themselves for the potentially massive blowback. So many ways to treat something like poorly, precious few ways to do it properly, and either direction will lead to controversy.
They could just make it a walk and talk section like No Russian though. I expect that's the safest thing to do, if they are actually doing it.

Looks a bit bland imo.
I don't like this "vaseline look" in the trailer, maybe the in-game AA is too strong or youtube compression ruins the image quality? Dunno, it makes the game look hideous.

It's a good thing they went back to WW2 and boots on ground, but I'm afraid multiplayer is going to ruined with microtransactions again. Meh.

Can you imagine walking in such a camp and seeing this?

Warning NSFW real dead bodies.

Holy shit if they really go through with this then MW2's No Russian mission would be nothing compared to this.

One thing I hope for the campaign is that they added the Specialist Difficulty from Infinite Warfare.

For those who don't know...

Specialist difficulty was based on Hardened and featured the ability to shoot guns out of enemies hands (and vice versa), and damage based on body parts. In the sense that if you get shot in the right arm, you can no longer ADS, left arm you can no longer throw grenades and if you're hit in the legs you're forced into a crouch. You needed to use nano injectors to heal the damage.

They're already halfway there with the health packs.

This game is sounding legit great. Infinite Warfare was the first COD I've skipped since COD4 released but I think they have me back in with this one

Like I said in the other thread I'm not impressed by the visuals. I think I've been spoilt by BF1's incredible visuals and maybe that's why this game's graphics aren't impressing me. Maybe it's also the horrible compression of YouTube and muddy Vaseline look it's giving everything. We shall see at E3 when more is revealed but for now I'm not impressed at all by what I see. Im also disappointed they are doing the war from only Americas point of view in Europe. I thought this being the first time COD has been in WW2 for a decade they'd take more risks and try to give show us other theaters from the war. Normandy landings have been done to death in the WW2 shooter genre 😒.

That's what I'm figuring that they would do, which might still be too much for quite a few people. I'm all for the game including that kind of content since it is important to remember what the stakes were in that war, even in something that fantasizes the combat itself, but if it pans out, this could be the real "on a tightrope without a net" moment for the entire series if it even has a whiff of being insensitive.

This turns my stomach. Just flat out the most offensive game I've ever seen.

I can name family members that died in this conflict, wept at the pictures and accounts of the dead and maimed that experienced this hell, was taught all the horrors of it from primary school, through my whole life, it's only ever been a symbol of the folly of war, the worst, most black and shameful era of European and American history. I've been to the actual battlefields and mass graves across Europe, held the minutes silence without fail every rememberence day my entire life, for as long as I could understand the meaning of it.

There was no glory in this war. No thrilling action or daring do, no heroes and villains, this was mass murder, a scar on the history of our species, and every single person involved in it was a victim.

This trailer, the entire concept of this game, makes me feel physically sick, and just so fucking angry.

How fucking dare anyone make a game like this about the Second World War.

I don't know what's worse, the sick fucking emotionless, greedy cunts that would seriously exploit this horror of an industrialised massacre, or the ignorant, soulless bastards that will give them money and enjoy it.

Anyone involved in this, or seriously think of buying this, should be ashamed of themselves.

"We're focused on making this game feel better, more special and newer than all that's gone before," says Schofield. "We make the gun feel better, make it feel heavier. When I go hard into a ditch in a tank, I see the dust inside the tank. It makes me feel like I'm there. Nobody will think about the exoskeletons again."

Hopefully this carries into the gunplay and audio experience. Enough with the laser-accurate air rifles, enough with the teensy-sounding pop guns (looking at you, World at War).

Honestly took longer to show up than I thought it would.

From the features list:
Other characters appear including female resistance fighters, a soldier in an African-American unit (the U.S. Army was still segregated in WWII), a British officer and even a child.

I am thinking that if they do anything, it might be using the
child
and doing a "walking" level kind of thing but maybe
via flashback before the "bad people" came
. I seriously doubt you are going to see a level like that from the "
Yasir Al-Fulani
" point of view.

Is this a new meme? i can't tell.

Am 100% down for a return to WW2, but that trailer didn't do anything for me.

Will wait for some actual decent length gameplay videos, because quick cross-cuts of face tech and explosions aren't enough to unleash my hype.

Zombies, again? As long as it's fun, okay

That already sounds better than Black Ops 3's "One hit you're dead" mode

Oh I missed the bit on character creator. Is that for all factions though? Is it also just basically gender? Or is race a cuatomizable thinf?

As someone who really likes Dead Space, them saying this new zombies mode is the first horror game they've done in years has me intrigued.

So are you saying that Steven Spielberg making Saving Private Ryan was also a greedy cash grab and a merciless way to exploit war-for-profit from it's viewers?

Edit: was that even serious sentiment?

Well that just turned serious. Hopefully there's a lot of narrative and historical fact in this.

HBO's Band of Brothers handled it well. And there is historical fact to it, but it remains to be seen how loosely Sledgehammer plays with those facts. With a historian helping to guide them, I hope they haven't overdone it and stick to real-life accounts of what the Western Allies encountered.

Blimey.

I went to Auschwitz in March. Behind a thousand and one more pressing thoughts from that visit, I did wonder if a game would ever touch on that side of the war. This would be an incredible thing for a game to tackle.

Auschwitz and the other extermination camps, which were all in modern day Poland, were far worse than the concentration camps the Western Allies would have confronted in West Germany. Don't get me wrong, concentration camps were terrible themselves; they had ovens and mass graves and exterminated many, many people, but not on the massive scale of the extermination camps.

The only concentration camp I've personally visited is Dachau, which is in Munich, and it was terrible enough. I can't even imagine the horror of Auschwitz.

Looks surprisingly good. The tone seems darker than World at War which might be what's needed nowadays.

Where's the MP footage?
