Capcom expects Marvel to sell 2 million, RE7 2M more, has major unannounced title

You guys saying you know what major unannounced title it is but I honestly can't think of one. Deep Down turning into DMC?

It's either DMC or Monster Hunter.

only 2mil for mvc4?
that's strangely lowball for capcom
wonder if they're adjusting sf5 fatigue or what

SFV was 2m too.

The only realistic comment I've seen.

Question, what the hell is going on with REmake 2. How long ago was that announced?

August 2015, I believe.

Pro-tip: They expect to ship 2.75 million copies of video games in Japan this year, yet Marvel and Resident Evil 7 will ship about zero.

I think you would have to guess a Monster Hunter title at the extreme end of March?

Gamers in Japan, just like gamers in the ROTW, have been waiting - very patiently - for a new Onimusha. It stands to reason that a new game or a reboot to the franchise would cause such a sales spike.

let me dream

Clearly Onimusha.

Better be god damn dmc5

They said MAJOR title. So it's going to be Mega Man

No, but seriously, it's going to be MH. And probably 3DS/Switch with cross-play between them like MH3U

And I'm going to say that MVC:I misses it's initial sales target (100k-200k off), but gets there eventually. Retailers are going to be hesitant to pull the trigger on copies after the sales bargain bin that was SFV from Capcom. I think the community dies quickly since it'll be deemed "too slow" and Capcom releases a UMVC:I refresh a year later.

REmake 2, does that count as unannounced?

It doesn't say unannounced on the fiscal report, just that it's a major title. All we can infer from that is that it's a title not yet announced for this fiscal year.

Resi 7 was the same where Capcom had mentioned working on it but it wasn't properly announced until last E3.

Realistic expectation. It should easily do more than that if they treat like a full featured game from day one and are allowed to support it. Looks like Marvel is on board with getting into the console realm, so should be a big win for them.

It's never too early to start being consistently wrong about another Capcom Fighter, eh?

2m per title? Why not just make a Nintendo v Capcom fighter for 3DS and Switch if they want some serious sales? Based on Smash and Pokken, it would do great numbers.

Sorry what? Pokken and Smash are both based on Nintendo's top brands, why would anyone who owns a Switch give a shit about Capcom characters?

Guys, there's only 1 IP that Capcom has that can sell like 2.5million in Japan alone in such a small amount of time...

It's Monster Hunter and it's multiplat. Either 3DS+Switch or Switch+PS4.

DMC5 with Uncle Dante. Developer is Ninja Theory and they purposely sabotage it to finish the series for good.

Too bad for you that I was right about, and continue to be right about SF5 being a failure. But hey, enjoy your $25 overpriced DLC because Capcom needs the money to improve Ken's face.

Jokes on you.

Capcom is never going to improve his face

Two million for MvCI seems possible. Though when do they expect that? First month? 3 months?

For SFV they expected that in 2 months, didn't and even a year later is at 1.6.

So 2 million in 2 months seems doable, considering the IPs involved. If it's like day one or first month...well..
The unnanounced game is DMC, but I wish it was Dragon's Dogma.
They're expecting whatever title it is to ship over 2m units in Japan, that's not either the games you mention.

Edit - but then they're expecting 6+m sales in West with only about 3.5m of those from mvc and resi7....hmm

I'm seriously asking if you think a Switch exclusive Capcom fighting game would sell 2+ million?

I said 3DS and Switch not Switch-exclusive, but I think it could yeah. And I said Nintendo v Capcom, meaning it would feature top Nintendo characters as well.

like some analyst said

guess the announcement will occur near TGS

That's what i thought until i realised they expect to ship 6.3m software in the West but only 3.5-4 of that is accounted for by mvc and re7.

What else could they release to ship another 2+m in the west. We have usf2, then we know nothing else. Worldwide MH release this fy maybe?

MVC looks like a budget game. I think even at 500k -700k sold imo will allow Capcom to break even. Imo it's gonna be tough to reach 2 mil. Capcom is hated by most casual buyers. They still have the "I will wait for ultra edition" mindset and SFV neglecting them is not going to help either.

If SFV released on X1 it would have been a lot closer to its mark. MVCI is on the 3 major platforms.

By the way, Capcom spent about the same in R&D that they did FY2016, and they make the same projection for the coming fiscal year that they did for FY2017-

They're expecting whatever title it is to ship over 2m units in Japan, that's not either the games you mention.

Where do we get this notion? I see nothing in this presentation that suggests that or what Nirolak suggested.

Marvel Vs. Capcom has more hype than SF and SFV still sold a bit over 1 mil. So yeah 500K-700k is actually lowballing.

The slide that shows they expect to ship 2.75m units in japan. Mvc, usf2 and res7 will ship a couple hundred thousand at most, so only one ip can do that much in japan for them.

2 million sounds like it might be more manageable than Capcom's expectations of most of their more recent titles. I don't expect it but here's hoping it'll actually be able to exceed them! Definitely will be picking up a copy myself.
