Overwatch Passes 30 Million Players

Don't be too excited, they're going to be Hanzo and Widow mains until the community verbally abuses them into picking a fucking healer.

Fun fact, my 11 year old sister got me into Overwatch.

Game of all time

Awesome numbers! But: Joining game > entering skirmish > game found > joining game > waiting for players > not enough players > game found > waiting for players > not enough players > entering skirmish > quit overwatch.
Turn off skirmish in settings

I have a giant friends list on battle.net and it went from everyone playing OW the first 6 months or so, to 1 person who still plays it consistently. Obviously just my experience but it feels like it's fallen off quite a lot in daily active users.

play almost everyday since launch still a great game
3.0

This game has saved me a lot of money because I don't buy many other games anymore...

Just as many have re-joined or picked it up for the first time it seems. Much like WoW, the game relies on content updates to spike numbers. I don't doubt that we'll see something akin to an expansion pack for purchase in order to bring people back. Overwatch 2 is likely in the far future.

I haven't really played a whole lot in the past, oh, month and a half or so. I was surprised to find myself playing a whopping two times since the latest event started, and only begrudgingly at the behest of friends. Maybe I just need this break, maybe not, but I try to like the game and between how weightless the game feels along with it feeling like the FPS aspect is just posturing for ult uses, it makes it harder to motivate myself to impulse hop into this as opposed to, say, Rainbow 6 Siege or (as of late) the Quake Champions beta. Maybe I'm just biding my time until Blizzard actually buckles down on what they want Overwatch to actually be.

Haven't played in a couple months myself, but overall I think its a great game, even if I let myself get a bit too salty at times with it. :p

I'm actually annoyed at how easy it is to drop into a handful of matches consistently each week. It totally has hindered me getting through my backlog.

It seems like Blizzard's games in terms of user base now rank like this:

1) Hearthstone (>50 million)
2) Overwatch (>30 million)
3) World of Warcraft
4) Heroes of the Storm
5) Diablo III/StarCraft II

I don't have any numbers or estimates for WoW/HOTS/D3/SC2. HOTS might be above WoW and I'm not sure if SCII is above D3 or below, so I put them equal.

Overwatch does not have 30 million ACTIVE players, same with Hearthstone. The active players are probably a lot closer to the 6 mil or so that wow has active. Not taking away from either, but it's not a gap of 20 million then almost 20 million again between 1 and 3.

If I had to guess, the seasons for Diablo have kept it's player base pretty healthy and active. Necromancer coming in the next patch, as well as new locations.

HOTS 2.0 has done some work to get that game back online too, though curious how many of them are just playing to get their OW stuff and never return.

Starcraft is likely last place though

It's unbelievable how many people are playing this game. I teach kids (age 7-9) and no day passes where I don't hear about them bragging about how they won that game, or how that ultimate destroyed their opponents etc.

Metzen voice cracks and goosebumps have been redeemed for Blizzard.

Ya, but were they on point or on the payload?!... lol

Wife was a very casual gamer and was against ever playing any games online, but gave junkenstien a chance since it was against npcs. Since then she's played almost every day. She get a little sad the days she couldnt get a match in and I had to buy a second xbox so I could get some other games in myself.

Great game, great support, and now a great time to spend with my wife. Thanks Blizzard!

The game is just brilliant in how fresh it is, the best new MP IP to me in ages. Love the characters, the gameplay, practically evrything about it.

Only downside to it is the same problem for any MP game in the last two generations: how god-awful most people are in the game, especially for how easy it is.

Has the game been on sale yet? Because I don't think does.
Which make the number even more impressive.
Yes, it has. I got the Origins Edition for $35 on PC. The regular edition goes on sale less often.
They got me good. I buy the game on sale and a month later I spend $40 on loot boxes 😅

And more people are buying it, replacing your friends. Game is still super active so idk.

Yup.

This game's inability to populate players is fucking infuriating. Especially when you're trying to burn through Arcade to get those lootboxes.

That inlcudes people who have played the Beta and on free weekends.

I still wanna see the number of copies sold. Why are they so afraid to show it.

Still play almost everyday! Need to grind more loot boxes before I have to outright buy (currency) the Genji and Mcree Blackwatch skins. =/
