Which is going to be bigger: Destiny 2, Star Wars Battlefront 2 or COD: WW2?

I feel like the only reason Destiny sold so well is because 2014 was such a dry year. I remember people were waiting for that one game this gen to live up to the hype only to be disappointed. Titanfall, Watch Dogs, and Destiny. It is the reason these games have sequels because they sold well. Today, we are not in a dry season anymore, but that doesn't mean Destiny 2 won't sell well. I just don't see it beating WWII.

battlefront 2 might not even do as well as the original. episode 7 hype train was much higher than episode 8. will depend on quality of the game imo as the sequel might have less of a draw from those casual fans who might have bought the first one. not sure if those people will be back.
A hype train that is slightly slowed from TFA is still faster than just about anything else in pop culture. Star Wars merch will sell across the spectrum this season, and Battlefront is going to be perfectly positioned to capitalize.

Combine that with a game that might win out amongst hardcore audiences (thanks to the campaign and increased scale) - and I think it cleans house.

Call of Duty is risking a lot by doing WW2. While the core audience has been begging for another 'grounded' CoD, a large section of the casual audience is perfectly satisfied with the more sci-fi centered entries. If Activision loses that audience, they'll only continue to slip in sales (even if they rebound critically).

By the way, Red Dead Redemption 2 might outsell both if it actually releases this year. Just saying.

I don't get how in 2017 some still don't understand just how popular CoD is. For either Destiny or Battlefront to top CoD, they'd need to increase their popularity pretty dramatically over their predecessors or CoD would need to dropoff pretty hard. And if anything CoD's sales should increase this year as they aren't dealing with the hardcore backlash that we saw with Infinite Warfare.

Call of Duty.

I could see Destiny 2 losing customers from the first game from all of the anti consumer bullshit they pulled. I bought Destiny, but I'm not touching Destiny 2.

If Overwatch didn't beat CoD I can't see Destiny doing it.

And I say this as a pretty hardcore Destiny player who doesn't touch CoD at all. They should both handily beat BF though.

Destiny 2 easy.

Quality wise: Battlefront.
Lol but what about content?

Destiny 2. This is going to be it's holiday season if they keep content up

BF looks amazing but just doesn't feel good to me. It's more of a show off type of game

COD WW2 will easily be the best in terms of sales. IMO also in terms of quality. I have high hopes for Star Wars though.

Destiny 2 I'm kinda meh on right now.

Short term CoD WW2, long term Destiny 2. Destiny will likely get a couple re-releases before 3, CoDWW2 and BF2 won't.

i'm just not so sure that all the casuals will be back and i dunno if the more hardcore players who see good reviews compensate that. not to mention the hardcore players who felt burned by the first one might not be back either. iirc both fallout 4 and COD outsold bf in 2015.

Seriously. Think about that. How much you heard about Overwatch and how little you heard about Infinite Warfare.

IW still did better.

Well, it kind of depends how you define it.

Half of Overwatch's popularity is in regions that don't work via traditional Western distribution methods.

Overwatch is way lower if we're doing North American and European consoles sales to console sales, though it's also lower than like eight other games from last year too that way.

Destiny 2 will be bigger in sales and be higher quality

Star Wars Battefront 2 will be high quality as well and I think even with how successful COD normally is if WW2 will be the sales winner they want it to be.

Interestly enough when Destiny launched it was also going up against a sledgehammer COD. Guess we can expect a new destiny whenever Sledgehammer gets to make COD.

Destiny 2 is a Titan, all the other games are fantastic, but nothing gets you locked in war like Destiny. You would have to be a very skilled Hunter to find a better experience.

CoD>Destiny>Battlefront in terms of sales

Quality is hard to gauge. Personally Destiny 2 will probably be the strongest but all I have high expectations for.

Agreed on the sales order, like everyone else.

I guess Destiny will be the best, although that's a low bar considering COD these days. I also thought Battlefront was actually bad. D2 will be an improvement on D1 just by not being one of my top 5 most disappointing games of all time.

I'm going to have to go w/ Destiny sales wise. I think a lot more people will be cautious of Battlefront this time around seeing how the first was bare bones.

Quality wise I'm going to have to go with Call of Duty.
Sledgehammer knows how to put together a terrific single player, I have faith in the co-op zombie campaign from their experience w/ Dead Space. They probably won't win on the MP side though

Commercially: COD > Destiny 2 > Star Wars
Quality: Destiny 2 > COD > Star Wars.
My personal interest level: Star Wars > Destiny 2 > COD.

I think they'll all be so close that I'm not that confident in my predictions.

Don't forget that Battlefront II has a canon campaign that's going to appeal to a lot of people and it's got Clone Wars era content for the Prequel Kids who were mad it wasn't in the 2015 game.

I think COD will retain it's crown. I think Destiny appeals to a smaller audience and Battlefront isn't as proven, especially with a new single player campaign.

Black Ops 3 saw a sales bump because it was a sequel to Black Ops 2, arguably the last 'great' CoD game. Fallout 4 was also a hugely anticipated sequel that had a ton of long-gestating hype. It's closest analogue this year would probably be Red Dead.

Battlefront also benefits the most from the holiday season. It's the safest possible bet for parents - T-rated, and the safety net of the Star Wars brand.

I am surprised by the number of people saying Battlefront for quality. Battlefront 1 felt terrible for a shooter it had great graphics but IMO not much else. I thought Destiny and even infinite warfare played much better and provided much more content for the dollar. Battlefield 1 has not reassured me that DICE has improved things with regards to shooting mechanics.
The campaign in Battlefront looks interesting but so does every other DICE campaign until you actually play it.

I expect Destiny 2 to be the biggest/better game out of these pretty easily. The others are always rushed and feel more small and cycled

lol @ any Call of Duty feeling small.

And just FYI, Advanced Warfare (Sledgehammer's last game) came out two months after Destiny, so...

I think most people here live in a vacuum. There's no way Destiny 2 will be bigger than Battlefront 2. Star Wars has such broad appeal and Battlefront is already a beloved and recognizable brand.

Destiny 2 will be a bigger release ... but sales might be higher for COD:WW2 during launch window. Overall sales will be Destiny 2 over it's lifetime. Base unit + DLC.

Battlefront 1 did around 14 million and Call of Duty traditionally does 20-25 million.

Destiny would need a strong overperform to beat Call of Duty, at least up front, or Call of Duty would need to fail to recover.
I believe original Destiny sold more than both in the long run... it even get in the NPD TOP10 3-4 times per year.

It's not a DICE campaign.

Still going to have a DICE engine, mechanics, AI, set pieces, & levels. I guess you have to look at Hardline to see how different it will be, in other words probably not much from a standard DICE campaign.
Hardline had a different developer still felt like DICE campaign due to the underlying DNA.

Playing as different heroes and jumping eras also makes me feel like bf2 campaign might be like battlefield1. I hope I'm wrong and there is a strong narrative focus on the iden character.
