The problem I see with "What happens after EoZ" is that Dragon Ball needs a new start:
The stories we've seen so far are those directly linked to Goku and the world he built arround him (also the reason why other characters aren't relevant anymore!) and because of that, we have nowhere else to go. We've seen the world as an ermit kid which knows nothing about the world, then we went for adventure while life unfolded, then the universe was something out there to reach... and finally we are at a multiverse tournament made by the übergod of the gods, and asking for wishes to the über-dragon of the planet-sized dragon balls! It's simply too much.
Goku's journey is over. He (and almost everyone else arround him) needs a break. He could be a master figure (like Roshi was once to him) or even de God of the Destructions if that's what he want... but we need a clean slate. Goten, Trunks, Pan and Uub need a clean slate for a "What happens after EoZ" future be possible. We all need this:

We need the world to be smaller, more grounded and less of that "we train with the gods" stuff. Give Goku that blue gi and make him the ermit at the top of the mountain for the new generation to reach. Make the Dragon Balls a hard task, and create enemies who are looking for them again. Create weird elders which arrange tournaments with a bunch of weirdos in the desert just because. Make something interesting out of planet earth insteand of the skies and beyond.

Goku needs to be a grandpa and sorta retire as an active fighter. Gohan shouldn't be forced to fight, that role just isn't for him anymore (and. Piccolo shouldn't be training Gohan again, but talking him out of it). 18 shouldn't be lusting for more money, Krillin shouldn't be retiring over and over, Roshi shouldn't be fighting at all... We all know and love Dragon Ball an their characters, but they outgrew their roles a while back.
End of Z needs to bring back precisely that: The need for a new generation and the definite change for the veterans. Those characters deserve that change.[/QUOTE]
Dragon Ball is in the same spot Superman, Batman, Spider-man, Lupin III, Detective Conan, etc. are. People are more than happy enough to watch the adventures of Goku and friends and it is able to attract new fans while retaining the old ones constantly. It has survived many tone shifts and a nearn20-year break in new material and it is still highly popular. No company would toss out a formula that works and is popular for an extended period of time. At most, some short side stories or movies not focused on the core cast would get released.
