If Toyotaro did say actually that then I would imagine end of Z would either be coming after this arc or the arc after that.

I'm thinking the arc after. It still seems a little early. Something in between where we get to see more of the kids woulds be nice.

Gonna be interesting to see them try nd ease that in. Because super has don't the exact opposite. Maybe hey get so tired of not being able to help or fight they slack

Just wait for puberty to set in and work its magic, Blackleg. You'll see.

Honestly? I think them being slackers is one of the things they'll tweak for Super. I'm going to guess that Trunks won't be a slacker at all, and Goten will be strong, but still slack off, but not to the point that he gets weak.

If they're truly going to go past end of z for a good length of time I hope you're right. Because at that point it's time for that gen to step up

Like gotens dating obsession o by all means keep it lol

Yeah, I think they'll still be into fighting while managing to have the typical social life of a teenager.

The big problem with the next gen in general is that none of them really are into fighting like the cast of the original DB was. Goku, Krillin, Yamcha, Tien, and such were all seasoned martial artists who dedicated a lot of their time to training and improving themselves. Gohan, Goten, and Trunks never really had that drive or desire to be serious martial artists.

I don't think Goten and Trunks were that bad. Goten was still seen sparring with his father, and his only real complaint was that he had to cancel a date to enter the tournament. And it didn't really take much for Vegeta to get Trunks to enter the tournament.

It's probably only from Goku and Vegeta's perspectives that Goten and Trunks were slackers.

(GT really went overboard with that, though.)

The little bit we saw of Pan in Z had her like fighting and they can literally do anything with Uub. The current arc of Super seems to be changing course for Goten and Trunks because they want to train and fight now.

Idk if it went overboard really. Took the template that was set nd continued it. Goten wasn't trying to go on the trip because of a date, trunks was working at capsule corp etc(pan was ruined tho)

But like arch said it definitely feels like they might change that

I think the issue is that've generally been just too clean. Toriyama doesn't seem to be interested in straightforward hero types. He does nice but mischievous children, demons who aren't as bad as they think they are, perverts and the like. Even the Dragonball cast is full of people who are tricksters, thieves, murderers or the like before they reformed.

If I recall, he killed off Goku after the Cell saga because he wanted Gohan to be the hero, but changed his mind because he thought Gohan wasn't a good fit as a hero... I think that's because Gohan's just too heroic, and Toriyama feels that he becomes kind of plain as a result.

With that in mind, I think Goten and Trunks are a good fit to pass the torch to. Trunks keeping the mischievous side, Goten just wanting to mack on some girls instead. Although Pan and Ubuu didn't appear for long (GT notwithstanding) so I guess they can be taken in whatever direction.

The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout "Save us!"... and I'll look down and whisper "I have a date tonight, can I do it later?"

Goten is the hero Dragon Ball needs, but not the one it deserves.

With how she's already hax, I don't think there will be any issue with 4 year old pan kicking ass.
I want pan to be like...

The problem is that with the insane censorship going on, I don't see them having a 4 years old little girl getting beaten up.

So that's going to make her really boring if she's never in danger.

Random, but I really would have liked it if Vegito smacked the shit out of Zamasu before he went Blue.
Yeah, it seemed weird Vegito didn't fuck around in his base, after seeing him in the Buu saga.

But it can be argued the only reason Vegito did it in the Buu saga was he didn't know the fusion had a time limit, and he was trying to force Buu's hand to absorb him, and it might have taken Vegito awhile to think of that idea anyway.

Yeah, that makes sense. Would have been nice to see Zamasu "oh shi" reaction when he realized Vegito wasn't trying.

The problem I see with "What happens after EoZ" is that Dragon Ball needs a new start:

The stories we've seen so far are those directly linked to Goku and the world he built arround him (also the reason why other characters aren't relevant anymore!) and because of that, we have nowhere else to go. We've seen the world as an ermit kid which knows nothing about the world, then we went for adventure while life unfolded, then the universe was something out there to reach... and finally we are at a multiverse tournament made by the übergod of the gods, and asking for wishes to the über-dragon of the planet-sized dragon balls! It's simply too much.

Goku's journey is over. He (and almost everyone else arround him) needs a break. He could be a master figure (like Roshi was once to him) or even de God of the Destructions if that's what he want... but we need a clean slate. Goten, Trunks, Pan and Uub need a clean slate for a "What happens after EoZ" future be possible. We all need this:

We need the world to be smaller, more grounded and less of that "we train with the gods" stuff. Give Goku that blue gi and make him the ermit at the top of the mountain for the new generation to reach. Make the Dragon Balls a hard task, and create enemies who are looking for them again. Create weird elders which arrange tournaments with a bunch of weirdos in the desert just because. Make something interesting out of planet earth insteand of the skies and beyond.

Goku needs to be a grandpa and sorta retire as an active fighter. Gohan shouldn't be forced to fight, that role just isn't for him anymore (and. Piccolo shouldn't be training Gohan again, but talking him out of it). 18 shouldn't be lusting for more money, Krillin shouldn't be retiring over and over, Roshi shouldn't be fighting at all... We all know and love Dragon Ball an their characters, but they outgrew their roles a while back.

End of Z needs to bring back precisely that: The need for a new generation and the definite change for the veterans. Those characters deserve that change.

People don't want that though. At the end of the day, people watch stuff like Dragonball to see goku and co scream loudly, change hair colour and punch/shoot lasers at things.

It's like the anime versions of ... I guess, crime procedural shows are the closest live action TV equivalent. You know what you're going to get, it's largely predictable, and you know by the end of each arc, things will be minorly different at best. But that's how it got so popular in the first place.

If you want something deeper, there's a whole ton of anime out there that's got you covered, but Dragonball isn't it, and it shouldn't even try to be.

Dragon Ball is in the same spot Superman, Batman, Spider-man, Lupin III, Detective Conan, etc. are. People are more than happy enough to watch the adventures of Goku and friends and it is able to attract new fans while retaining the old ones constantly. It has survived many tone shifts and a nearn20-year break in new material and it is still highly popular. No company would toss out a formula that works and is popular for an extended period of time. At most, some short side stories or movies not focused on the core cast would get released.
