Did you play the guts increasing video games?
Yep. Maxed the death link, played the games, took baths when it was raining, stuck at 4. Not a big deal, I'm sure I'm right there and will get it quickly in NG+ in my plat run, but not going to lie, every time I see MAX MAX MAX MAX 4, my completionist OCD gets triggered.

Getting a game over when just Joker dies fucking sucks. Just lost about an hour of progress because there are no God damn safe rooms in the
depths of Mementos
.

The only one they have is endure which lets them survive a hit at 1 hp. If they actually have that skill it never triggered for me and I maxed everyone.

Yeah they get it at rank 8, I think. It has nearly 100% chance to trigger (if not straight up 100) provided the attack that's going to kill you isn't a party wide one.

Does the Futaba lines trophy carry over into NG+? I just realized I've gotten past the seventh palace and it hasn't unlocked. I've tried to use all party members regularly, so I feel like I'm like the only person who hasn't gotten it by now haha.

Sigh..
Literally I thought the game was hard but..
Palace1 low level, no persona variety, you'll cry
Palace2, persona variety is still a problem..
Once palace3 hits, you're basically good to go..
Best 2 persona for palace3, Shikoku ouji and koppa tengu..
If you have problem with strong phys persona you're golden..
The guy is IMMUNE to phys and gun... he's basically back to his status as early godlike persona (as in smt3... ironically in p4 he was mediocre).., this guy can abuse oni by himself... plus he will be a godsend f94 palace3 boss :)
Koppa tengu instead is strong to wind but weak to ice, BUT can learn ice via fusion... seems weak? Sure, till you consider palace3 nue shadows... he's the nue killer, even if he whiffs(miss) the buff, by being wind resistant you're cool.. plus he has high agility, so you will most likely attack first in your party...
Palace4.. you still stick to Shikoku ouji, but now you have two new MVP..
Isis and cloto..
Isis is immune to death and Hama, and can possibly be used as an highly functional caster did//healer to fight those anubis/thot..
Cloto fill the same niche role (healer//multielement damage dealer) with a different resistance set..
palace5 i have yet to finish, so I'm still undecided about the mvp..

Nope, it doesn't. You can try to grind them in Mementos or even get it in the last area. If you've made an effort to switch, it's only an amount of time I'd think.

They get that skill at rank 9. If it works the same as P4, it won't protect you from dying to party-wide attacks, however.

Gonna take the atlus tester excuse that I was too good at the game and never died after unlocking it
:p

Shit, for real?! Man, and I was ready to blaze through NG+ on easy. And I'm at the point in mementos where it doesn't even bother to trigger a fight if I sneak up on people and if I do get into a fight, it's over within a turn.

Just fucking happened again. Fuck this god damn game.

Is it the Melchizedeks and their god's hands? Same thing happened to me a couple times, but honestly at this point you should always have a persona or two with null/repel phys (same for curse and bless).

There are those Lilith and their megidolaons too, those you have to kill ASAP.

For what it's worth, I turned it down to casual for my NG+ run and I still managed to get the Futaba line trophy with minimal effort. I was over-levelled for every encounter so the only time I got any "strong enemy" lines was from the reaper. I did a bit of status effect grinding in Mementos and then it popped in dungeon 7 for me. In dungeon 6
just make sure to use Akechi, for his unique lines
.

There are quiet a few unique lines during the final boss, might be worth it just to stall during that fight swapping people out till it procs.

Not sure I recommend that too much. I actually tried redoing the final boss on my first playthrough save I still had when I was worrying about whether I'd get it on my NG+ run. I tried swapping people in on that fight thinking the same thing, and a lot of the standard lines don't trigger for some reason.

It does have safe rooms, you just... take awhile to find them. But yea, this and the 7th palace were pretty bad with their safe room placement. That being said, I had a Persona with convenient repels, so I breezed through it fortunately.

Guts is my last point I got to increase, but good lord I can't figure anything to do late game. Figure I'll just end up getting it early in NG+ when I got through Tae's link again.
I rented and watched
The Running Dead (lol)
.

Also finished all the Burger Challenges, and games that gave me guts. Had the max S-link for Tae as well.

In fairness, I have to question the purpose of having a system that's literally just "here's useless shit to sell" instead of just giving you money upfront to begin with.

I am in late November, and ramping up to do palace 7.

Thank God. I'm about 85 hours of playtime, and I can safely say even if the ending pans out, this won't surpass P4 for me. There is a lot of gameplay improvements in P5 and the style this game oozes is great. There is throwaway characters and dungeons, the soundtrack while good, is still not on the P4 levels. Also, I agree with a poster in the first few pages of OT1 who said that conversations with shadows should've stayed out of Persona franchise, and I agree.

I know that all sounds very negative, but the game is an easy 9/10 for me and that is without reaching the end, but it overstays its welcome and drags in ways P4 never did.

Stayed out? The Persona franchise already had conversations with shadows, it just got dropped in Persona 3.

Personally I'm happy it's back.

Guts requires more points to go from 4-5 than it does to go from 1-4, so it takes awhile. It also generally has the fewest gain opportunities.

The best source is the rank 3 burger challenge once you've unlocked it.

This is gonna sound strange, but I tried to start a new game plus today after finishing the game yesterday, and I don't think I can do it. At least not for a while.

It just feels like my first experience with the game and story and characters was so amazing and such a unique experience that in some weird way I feel like I'm retroactively tarnishing it by jumping back to the start so quickly. Like I don't want to play in a world where all these characters don't know one another.

Feels weird, man.

To me, the best "new" feature was demons being back as shadows, negotiating with them being the second.

Not only they're hilarious to interact with, but working out their logic is a fun mini game in and of itself, and it's a super useful mechanic for when you're in a difficult situation.

Also in retrospect, shuffle time was pretty stupid.

At the December, and it really feels like the game needed a couple of more months. The party's dynamics feel undercooked, especially Haru who's completely isolated and superfluous. Looking back, I think the party was at its strongest when it was Makoto/Ann/Yusuke/Ryuji, who played each other pretty well.

The school festival was also a missed opportunity, Cold Steel had a better festival than this.

At least I managed to Max Star just before the deadline, though I don't think I'll bother fusing Lucifer. Low on money. Fortune got left Rank 9 though, bleah. Lovers and Devil are the only ones I didn't touch, S.Link felt pretty easy to max this time.

I wouldve liked to see it more fleshed out if this is the path we are going down. Join me, give me money, give me items. If they had done something like a random ambush on an enemy you never fought lead to a conversation that lets you auto learn the enemies weaknesses if you succeed that wouldve been cool to avoid trial and error. Or you can interrogate an enemy to learn other enemies likes for conversations that you havent spoke with that are in the dungeon.

It just needed more.

As I reflect a bit having beaten the final boss (credits haven't rolled yet cause lol persona) I feel part of my disappointment with P5 comes from how strong the game starts before dying off a cliff. The first palace everything is so perfectly built up in all areas, the next few palaces can't possibly reach that intensity.

To be fair, I think that's the point. Cold Steel is all about happy feelings and loving school life. Persona 5's pretty much the opposite when it comes to school life, and P5's events are indicative of that, especially when we consider P4.

I thought Palace 3 was the best one.

I'd rank them:

3, 5, 6, 2, 4, 1, 7, 8

I enjoyed Persona 5 more than Persona 3 or Persona 4, but there are certainly elements I'd like to see improved in it for a revised version or sequel.

No way palace 3 was awful, the actual dungeon just went on and on and on, and you barely interact with
kaneshiro, which made me feel nothing for him as the antagonist. Especially when the only reason anyone gets into trouble in that arc is because Ryuji , Ann, and Makoto are all too stupid to live and just make a series of brain dead decisions that lead to a confrontation

When I said palace 1, I meant the whole story arc from the build up of the antagonist, his relationship to the cast, etc. The actual dungeon itself was just okay.

I honestly think Rivers in the Desert may be my favorite Persona track now.

Shuffle time with its randomness was no bueno

I do think the mini-game in P4G is well done, but I think that P5's Shadow negotiations is legit well made and doesn't feel overbearing (especially with some of the QOL updates to that sort of system that are present ) so I prefer them tbh :p

I thought Palace 3 was the best one.

I actually liked the last 2-3 dungeons best (though Palaces 3 and 4 are up there for me)
I really don't like the music of Palace 1, I think they could have used a better track for that tbh.

I honestly disagree tbh. Palace 6 and 7 have pretty damn good lead ins and arcs. I do agree that Kanoshiro felt a bit "just there" and the villian for palace 5 seems kinda weak as a villain (which is basically the entire point, but whatever), everything else worked out pretty well imo.
