What's this I just read on gaming side? Alien: Isolation will never get a sequel? The dev team doesn't exist anymore? It sold poorly? IGN GAVE THIS A LOW SCORE? ¡Hijole!

Well

I bought it and couldn't play it

I imagine that's the same for a lot of people. It's a AAA take on Amnesia (a good one), but ofc it failed to get the twitch crowd excited.

couple of mil isn't enough
They wanted almost 10
smh

Does anything outside the movies pull those numbers anymore? Colonial Marines couldn't have sold that well.

It's odd because I don't actually think it's scary until near the end game, but everyone I know swears they can't play it because the sound design scares them so bad. I just think it's the best recreation of that world in any medium since the first movie.

When I first encountered the Alien I was done.

nope nope, NUUUUUUUUPE

The fun for me is in exploring that station, outsmarting the Alien and androids, and discovering the story. It has some really neat segments. Dead Space, on the other hand, creeps me out too much to play it. I have severe anxiety. I can't handle things that actually scare me really bad. Clock Tower and Silent Hill wear on my nerves and make me panic. Alien is just fun to play and explore, for me.

The Xeno isn't scary. Oh no it killed me. Guess I have to reload my save. If it sees me and I know I'm fucked I just let it get me.

I suffer from anxiety but shit like that doesn't start it. I have never been scared or get spooked at horrors/ jump scares, which kind of sucks. Why I need a horror with a good story.

Well, it's like this. I have a motion tracker, and I can hear where the Alien is at all times. I can hear if it's above me, behind me, and I can tell where it drops down by watching the vents in the ceiling of each room. I basically know where it is at all times.

In Clock Tower on the Super Nintendo, I don't know where Scissorman is. I just know he's coming when the very creepy theme starts playing. Then he can appear anywhere. In showers, under beds, in closets, behind curtains, etc. The Alien kills me right away. Scissorman comes at you slow and makes the anxiety build and build. Also, the atmosphere is different. The station is lived in and there are large story breaks where the Alien is gone. The mansion in Clock Tower feels like a nightmare.

Silent Hill, on the other hand, is this dark claustrophobic space filled with monsters. They all look and sound completely unknowable. Everything is dirty and gross, and is psychologically built to prey on anxiety. Not only that but much of it doesn't make sense outside of thematic reasons and can't be predicted.

By keeping the Alien to vents and hallways, it's easier to predict. If they had given it the ability to crawl on the ceiling and blend in with machinery, it would have been a lot more unpredictable.

They opted for the Terminator route, where it just keeps coming over and over and can't be stopped except by story and plot. Well, okay, but then I can sneak by it and if I fail I'll reload a save. I can't explain the difference, but somehow it didn't click as a scary thing, but as an enemy to strategize around.

You would probably like the 3rd Dead Space. They changed it and it very light on the horror, which got a lot of people pissed.

Yeah.

I still prefer Infernal Affairs though.

Ohh, i just remembered a couple of films for ya, Beefy.
Check out Johnnie To's Election 1 and 2.

They're both very good.

Cheers man.

Nah. It's a contradictory thing with me. I love well-made horror, but I also can't handle it well at the same time. I love what I've played of Dead Space, but it makes me nope out every time.

I need some more good horror games in my life. I heard Outlast 2 is good, and Friday the 13th is coming out soon.

And then there's Night Trap, but that's not for horror as much as it is campy late 80's early 90's live action

Night Trap is something, but nothing will ever outdo the disgustingness and bizarreness of Harvester.

Ayone play those 5 nights at freddy games? Youtube makes them way too cute seeming

The first is just a neat indie game idea. Didn't deserve to blow up the way it did.

Played 10 minutes of Outlast, it did me a scare, turned it off fast.
