Worst Mario Kart tracks?

Wario Colosseum. To be honest I don't like a lot of Double Dash's courses in general, and I know that it's definitely challenging, but it feels overdesigned at points.

Man, GAF has bad taste in Mario Kart tracks. Neo Bowser City? Dragon Driftway? Any of the original MKWii tracks? Really, guys?

I'll nominate Toad's Turnpike from MK64, which returns in MK8. It's just a lame figure-8 with slow, easily avoided obstacles in the form of "real" vehicles. Just straightaways and a couple of curves. Practically puts me to sleep, especially with the music.

I've never seen so many of my favourite things in a worst of thread.. Toad's Turnpike, Coconut Mall, Neo Bowser City, Grumble Volcano, Wario Goldmine. I'm relieved there's no mention of Maple Treeway so far. Once I got the hang of them, the "harder" tracks have always became my favourite very quickly. It seems there's a pattern here where people are picking a lot of the tracks where you're consistently forced to make a lot of sharp turns in succession. For some that can be annoying, but I love them :(

Grumble Volcano. Just a shit design that's super unclear about where to drive, AND it changes as the race goes on. Throw it in the trash.

Neo Bowser City in MK8. Fucking garbage level. Took a good level and managed to make it completely unfun to play on.

A lot of the levels from MK64 honestly. They're so boring.

Edit: How could I forget Excitebike Arena? Oh wait, it's because it's an insanely boring and forgettable level with one of my least favorite songs in the series. Awful.

Kalimari Desert (MK64) = flat and boring.
Rainbow Road (MK64) = long and boring - outside of the high-risk shortcut off the starting line, there's basically nothing going on here.
Baby Park (DD) = you know why

EDIT: Oh, and Bowser's Castle in MK8. It's not the worst on its own, but Bowser tracks are usually among the most fun/challenging, so this might have been the biggest let down of any MK track.

I love Baby Park in DD, but without the items it just doesn't have the same appeal in 8.

Worst track IMO is probably the Zelda one in 8. Had so much potential, but it's so boring.

I love almost all of those tracks you mentioned, too. I like Mario Kart when the tracks get zany and wacky and require you to demonstrate your mastery of them to win.

But Toad's Turnpike? Doesn't require that, doesn't fit in. Hence my nomination of it.

A lot of the Mario Kart 64 tracks don't hold up well because they're so much wider than those in the rest of the series. Makes them pretty boring in comparison. They were awesome at the time though.

Alright, reviving this thread to vent my frustration on... Excitebike.

What a garbage track. No excitement or skill at all. Just go forward, turn at the corners avoiding the mud and take jumps. Just hope you get first, get far enough, and not get hit by any items or else you're fucked and probably no way of catching up unless some oter person has an item to screw the person in front of you.

And the worst thing is that this map is so popular online that it almost gets chosen all the time. It somehow got into my favourite track stats so you know it gets chosen a lot.

Excitebike, Baby Park, Dry Dry Desert, Grumble Volcano

Dry Dry Desert in particular elicits some irrational hatred from me. Yeah, it has some fun curves, but it looks so goddamn boring.

Neo Bowser City @ 200cc

What a terrible track in Mario Kart history.
Naw bruh, pump up that super eurobeat and brake while drifting.

On topic, I can't particularly think of any aside from one or two in 64, but even that's mostly because I don't like how the karts handle in 64.

Edit: ooh! Dry Dry Desert! Most boring track possibly in the entire franchise. Super disappointed when they brought it back for MK8.

You just described Mario Kart.

In MK8, the only tracks I don't like are Bone Dry Dunes and Music Park. They're well-made, but Bone Dry Dunes is a bit dull-looking, lacking the vibrant colors of other courses, while Music Park ironically has the least catchy music, and the tedious stretch near the end where you have to time your hops in sync with the bouncing music notes.

Some of the other courses listed here are great, though, IMO. I personally love Dolphin Shoals, Baby Park and Wario's Gold Mine, for example. Wario's Gold Mine is like a wooden rollercoaster at a theme park, Baby Park literally -is- a theme park (at least, thematically
pun intended
), and Dolphin Shoals is gorgeous. Bonus nostalgia points in Dolphin Shoals for featuring the dolphins from Mario World and the giant eel from Mario 64!

Peach Beach. Maybe Rosalina's Ice World.

Probably a whole bunch of MK:DD, I paid full price for it and played it so little I don't really remember much of it anymore.

That Chinese dragon one in MK8, maybe it was in the DLC, don't remember the name.

Hard and boring.
I like the idea of the dragon but there's no variety to it.

I hate Grumble Volcano and most of the desert themed tracks except Kalimari Desert because N64 nostalgia. I liked being able to go off-road and follow the train around.

Baby Park outside of Double Dash.
It was exciting because of Double Dash's driving mechanics and special items. Outside of that, it's just dull.

wtf.

WTF.

It's overplayed and not really that fun. I won't call it the worst but I will say I'm never happy to see it.

I'd have to say the dragon course is my least favorite. For whatever reason it never feels fun to me.
