Worst Mario Kart tracks?

It's just as insane in online multiplayer with 11 other people.

I still find it dull. The giant shells, bananas, multiple fireballs and chain chomps gave it a sort of unique hectic. Excitebike Arena did a better job translating all of that into traditional Mario Kart, especially with the randomly generated jumps.

Personally very sick of the Music track and the tick-tock-clock track. The fact that they were in MK7 just make it feel so tired every time they pop up.

Ask me which Shakespeare novel is best
any desert track.
I hate deserts in every single video game. Every single one.

Sand is poopers.

wtf.

WTF.

Visual references and a good theme do not a good course make.

Layout-wise, it's dull as dirt. The closest thing to an exciting part of the track is unlocking the Master Sword shortcut. And that's basically it. I think it's the worst by 8's standards, which are abnormally high standards, mind you.

Dry Dry Desert has really grown on me. Lots of opportunities to cut corners if you have mushrooms. Nice long drifts if you don't. The open airy sands give way to the quicksand pit and oasis. Then more falling pillars to trick off as you hurtle back to the finish line. The desert levels, in general, benefit greatly from HD-era textures and lighting. They finally feel interesting whereas in past games they felt bland. (Although I maintain Kalimari Desert was great back in the day.)

Tick-Tock Clock is from the DS game, not 3DS.

The remake of Royal Raceway in MK8 is fantastic, though. Every twist and turn in that track is fun. :-D

Gorgeous-looking track, as well!

One of my faves. Only real weak bit is the ramp and the paragliding jump, could have done something more interesting there. Not a fan of cannon / paragliding in MK in general.

I like the jump in Royal Raceway. :) The sense of scale, the garland arches, the birds scattering at the last minute... and then of course the petal-covered quicksilver lake dotted with swan boats, the view of the castle and the runway emblazoned with the crown insignia. Sounds cool, too, with the ringing church bells as you pass under the arches. Also, the hot-air balloons change position from one lap to the next, so they can actually get in your way if you maintain the same flight trajectory. :-O

Just a wonderful course. Probably my second favorite in the game... My overall favorite being the exceedingly pleasant Animal Crossing course with its four seasons.

I can't stand Yoshi Circuit GCN.

It's shaped like a Yoshi. Yeah that's cool. But that just means it's an absolute chore to drive through.

Edit: Damn never realized Excitebike had so much hate. I love that track... it's like a perfect tribute to the NES game.

The ones I hate from Mario Kart 8

Dry Dry Desert - Just total shit.
Toads Turnpike - Boring track.
Animal Crossing - Its a beautiful looking track, but I just find the track layout to be super boring to race on.
Excite Bike.

Forgot about Wario's shit mine.

Drop Animal Crossing from the list and we're pretty much on the same page. Especially about Dry Dry De...zzz...zzz....zzz...

Toad's Turnpike sucks. I'm one of the weirdos who only played SMK and MK64 then dropped the series, so it sucks playing MK8 now and seeing most of the 64 tracks aren't very fun.

The donut plains SNES in MK8 is fantastic though. Wish there were more SMK tracks!

I think Toad's Factory is one of the few courses I outright forgot even existed until like yesterday, so that.

I dunno...Banshee Boardwalk?

The first page mentions of Coconut Mall are craaaaaazzzzyyyyy.

Neo Bowser City @ 200cc

What a terrible track in Mario Kart history.

I dunno, for whatever reason the last two DLC cups didn't give me much trouble with DOC.

Dragon Driftway, however...now that was horrific.

I kinda miss how you can't drive up to the castle anymore, although I guess they didn't want to confuse/distract players with all the visual overload going on.

Great track, regardless.

Rainbow Road 64 is a neverending pile of nothing.

Agreed. Most people loved MK64 but it was a huge disappointment to me. I much preferred the SNES tracks and how precise you had to be to take corners perfectly.

The MK64 courses in comparison felt boring

Music Park sucks. I just don't get the theme. The weird fat bouncing music notes. It's otherwise all just a bunch of curves without the cool atmosphere of Neo Bowser City. It's just called "Music Park" - what's with lazy names like that and "Water Park"?

It's called Melody Motorway in the UK- much better name.

My vote goes to either some GBA tracks, or Bowser Castle Track in MK8. Straight up rubbish compared to the ones that preceeded it.

Imo a lot of the tracks in MK are just "okay", outside of Mount Wario there's not really a Waluigi Pinball tier track.

Mushroom Gorge. Those jumps on the giant mushrooms is like the easiest way to fuck up a really good lead in a race. Also, basically any track from MK Wii with half pipes.

I really dislikes MK Wii's track design in general. Not a single good one in that game. Worse Rainbow Road too.

People citing Mario Kart 8 tracks while MK64 tracks exist.

Yoshi Circuit is one of the GOAT MK tracks. Animal Crossing one is an absolute delight. Grumble Volcano is another one of the best! What is wrong with people?

I never been too fond of MKDS's Yoshi Falls, as it's pretty uneventful with racers simply going from one speed boost to the next.

MK7's Rosalina’s Ice World is just as boring. Apart from seeing the Comet Observatory when you cross the line, nothing about this course is that interesting.

TIL I learned that Melody Motorway is called Music Park in America

As for my take, I can't really remember too much outside of MK8 and my least favorite track in that is by far Dry Dry Dunes, it's just never fun and the theme is boring as all hell.
