LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 Announced [PC/PS4/XB1/NS, Nov17, new MP, open world, more]

The first game was amazing, best Lego game. Will definitely play this at some point.

This is also open world, right?

They would be stupid not to, just a question of whether they reuse the same world from 1/avengers or a new world.

That's a good point actually.

Kinda odd really. These games target a younger userbase and I'd have thought they're more likely to still be on last gen and/or handhelds than 8th gen home consoles and Switch.

PS4 is selling well enough at this point that it's safe to go all in on current-gen. Switch having a great start helps.

I really hope that's key to having the FF and X-Men. I'm just speculating as there are no X-Men or FF characters on the box.
As mentioned above, Kang is one of the rare exceptions, going off of his use in Avengers Assemble Season 3 & the continued absence of the X-Men/F4 guys, or even the Maximoff Twins, in said cartoons.

The Maximoff Twins still being absent from AA is weird, given that they have about as deep of a history with the Avengers as Kang.

Where does Kang fall under again?
Fox, but read above.

There comes a point when you just need to cut support, we're three and half years into the gen.

Here in the UK, most major stores have removed their PS3/360 games, so the game wouldn't have any visibility on those platforms anyway.

Just a heads-up, if Avengers Assemble is anything to go by (& if the other Fox characters are still being avoided), Kang may be changed to Tony Stark's descendant rather than Reed Richards'.

I've always thought of Kang as an Avengers villain first-and-foremost. Given that his younger self is Iron Lad.

Which stores? GAME and Grainger still have plentiful PS360 sections for me, and my local Tesco still has a few games for each (haven't checked ASDA).

I suppose support does need to be cut after a certain point, but it feels a little soon. Even setting my Vita-bias aside, it seems very soon for 3DS which is very much a kid-friendly console.

My local Tesco stores only have PS4/XB1 space. Nintendo stuff was culled a long time ago.

My nearby ASDA does have PS3 and 360 space, but it seems to get smaller and smaller every time I go in there. I expect it'll be gone by next year.

ASDA has 360 and PS3 games near me

Really cool to see Miguel front and center on the box, though this definitely isn't boding well for X-Men or Fantastic Four representation.

The best part about the 1st game was the playable characters, it is sad that we have to assume that the X-Men are in yet Cowboy Captain America and Spider-Gwen are on the box art.

Lego Marvel was so good!

My goddaughter still plays it whenever she's over and it's been years. My little cousins could play that for hours and hours just swapping characters and doing nothing but exploring the open world.

And it was fun for me having to explain who everyone was.

My kids (5 and 9) still play this game all the time. They have so many ways to play that they have made up, from hide and seek (often using characters with invisibility), to fighting in boats or planes, to trying to run each other over with cars, or just good old fashioned smashing each other as hulk. I have pretty much every lego game that's available for ps4 but the only other one that they come back to at all is the lego movie game. But Marvel is by far their go to game.

If the second can even match the first I'll be impressed. I'm not holding my breath that it will supplant it though, at least not in my house.

Maybe. Lego games on Nintendo platforms have a bad history with DLC.

Well, the wii U had a few games that missed out on DLC because the install base wasn't there so the publishers didn't bother. Given Switch's rising popularity I'd expect its version to be on par with PS and xbox offerings, including DLC.

Loved the first one. Can't wait for this! I'd be surprised if they left out X-Men or F4 characters since they had them in the first (a good amount of them too). Would be pretty dumb IMO

No X-men, no sale.
Yea, this is what would make me avoid it.

Seriously surprised it took them this long to upgrade to 4 players.

I guess this means the dream of having Marvel in Dimensions is dead.
Lego Jurassic World and the JW team pack came out the same year, there's still the chance.

Quite interested to see people agreeing en masse with my perception of the original versus Avengers and Batman 3. I wasn't sure if the latter were indeed worse or I was just burned out. I definitely loved the original to bits, but I'm not sure it can be replicated easily, let alone topped, and indeed, lack of X-men is a pretty big factor in that.

I really hope we get a vita/3ds version even if kind of a different game, maybe we get that with ps3/360 seems weird to leave behind where a lot of kids play, loved playing lego games on the go (and getting the plats) and not ready to buy a switch yet.

After Undercover I can't go back to playing these games on a home console exclusively so I'm fine waiting a bit for the Switch version. Wonder why it's delayed though, must be lack of experience seeing as it's their first brand new game for the console.

TT Fusion out of a job?

Didn't Fusion make the most recent Star Wars game? Maybe they're just on that now. I don't think a separate version for 3DS/Vita would require a separate press release and would just be announced with this version.

I do wonder whether we'll get any other games on the 8th gen handhelds though.
