LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 will be available starting November 14, 2017 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The game will be released for Nintendo Switch this holiday.

What does this mean? November 14th is already pretty far into the holiday season...is the Switch version instead releasing the 21st or 28th? First week of December? It seems odd to know that a game will miss launch by a week or two this far in advance. Or is this game going to release the same day as the others and Nintendo has claimed the right to announce this? (I have no idea why Nintendo does this sometimes.)

It's probably because the game will more than likely come out in December before Christmas, but after Thanksgiving. They want to have as many units as they can before Black Fridays, to the PC/XBO/PS4 versions come out then.

Literally none of these will be in the game

Color me interesting if and only if it includes XMen and Fantastic Four. Not interested in just Marvel Cinematic Universe: The Lego Game, but I would love to see a proper good Marvel crossover again like the first Lego Marvel was.

That line about the holiday season just meaning "December" makes sense. I'm a bit surprised they didn't give that release date, too, but perhaps they're going to try to release it as early as possible, so they won't set the week until they know for sure when it will hit.

That 4 player coop mode sounds cool but is it a permanent feature or just something for the battle arenas?

Also... that story synopsis does not sound good IMHO, I hope it's not going into LEGO Batman 3 territory with the lame hub worlds that were as big as a building in LEGO MSH. I need my open world Manhatten hub fix for this one too.

They confirmed open world.

I hope you realize you're saying this in a thread about a WB team making a game for a Disney owned IP
But that person is saying Lego doesn't own the rights to produce TMNT toys which means a game is probably not happening. What's the point in using an IP to make a Lego game if you can't use it to make Lego toys?

Weird that Spider-Man 2099 is front and center on the box art; I assume he has a major role in the story given the time travel premise, but he's not exactly what I'd consider a huge draw for the masses.

That seems implausible, given that Lego is one of the very few third-party franchises that Wii U got throughout its entire lifespan.

Nothing implausible about it considering how late third parties got Switch dev kits. Switch development likely started late because they had no choice in the matter.

LEGO marvel super heroes 1 is one of my favorite lego games.
LEGO marvel avengers is one of my least favorite lego games.

I will wait and see on this one.

Seeing Spider-Gwen and Miguel warms my heart. Not seeing any X-men makes me want to flip tables at this bullshit. Also the Switch version not being same day and date as the rest makes me very uneasy. Not liking this treand of wanting to play games on Switch but having to wait longer. Third parties screwing their shit up with a popular system.

LCU was a simultaneous release and was one of the very first multiplatform retail games to be officially announced for Switch, though.

Well their hubs are all technically open world with quests etc. It's just that some games had multiple smaller hubs rather than 1 big hub (like Manhatten) which is a bummer. LEGO Avengers topped the list with the big manhatten hub + multiple smaller (although bigger than the Batman 3 planets) exotic hubs like Sokovia or South Africa.

We'll see, debating getting this for PS4 for the easy controller setup but I can't justify 40€ extra (PC is 29€, PS4 69€ here) for effectively the same version of the game.

Can't wait for this on the Switch.

I'm playing LEGO City Undercover right now and even though the performance can bog down in the open world parts, it's still great to have a full console LEGO game on a handheld.

The cover and press release make it very obvious this is more shovelware and not a true successor to the first one that had all of the characters in it, this is more MCU trash like Lego Avengers.

I don't care who the bad guy is, the fact they went out of their way not to mention the characters they don't have rights to anymore says a lot, how could they honestly think this wouldn't be the ONLY question people would have of the game.
