Xbox Back Compat Super Sale, starts May 16, up to 75%+ off, 275+ titles

It's horseshit that MS still doesn't offer an option to buy 360 games outside of using a fucking 360 or paypal that's so hit and miss on xb1.

way to discourage sales, guys!

How can you make progress if you cant fix it?

They have no problem hiring specific groups of teams to reverse-engineer 360 games to get them not only running on xb1, but running better, but they can't fix the actual storefront that enables people to buy the games in the first place?

I just don't see the logic.

That's fine. If it's broke it's broke. Not arguing that. It's just ridiculous the issue is still around three years after the console has been on the market and yet they still advertise these sales.

I don't understand the technical aspect of why they can't get it to work either so I feel your pain. That said, why would they not advertise these sales? Giving people this current option to buy 360 games is better than having no option.

Billing to me looks like all one thing now. I think the issue is the policy of requiring a payment option on file to buy from the website for 360 has transitioned to the Xbox One console for some bizarre reason whereas on 360 console, you didn't need a payment option on file, just the website. There is possibly some Xbox credit/Card, paypal set up that can't work both ways on each system or something.

Um.. the store has been fucked since they done away with Microsoft points. To fix it and the other issues the store has would require more or less a full rewrite. Not to mention digging through 12 old code to see what's important and what's not.

Someone who works at Microsoft posted in the BC thread early on saying it would be way too much work to fix

I'm tempted to buy classic Perfect Dark and Zero but one is possibly archaic, that floaty Goldeneye aiming and the other, people say it's pretty rubbish. Thoughts?

I already have so many of these games from Games With Gold but I still managed to pick up a few games that I don't think will ever become free through there:

-Alice: Madness Returns
-Metal Slug XX
-Neogeo Battle Coliseum

So I'm looking at all these games I just got and I really cant decide which one to play first. I got too many :(

The classic Perfect Dark plays fine.

PD Zero is indeed rubbish, best bet would be to just save a play through for if you ever decide to get Rare Replay.

That's been their excuse for years. So they've made zero progress?

They could always fix it by copying all BC games to the Microsoft store, but I guess they've made calculations and figured out it'll be too expensive. I'd be more pissed if XONE was my primary console and wasn't used mostly to play Forza games (and thankfully I got Forza Horizon 1 as a retail copy).

Thanks, stick to classic I think. I remember playing Zero for a bit at launch and thinking it was a bit off but it was a showcase event. Just one of those itches I need to scratch.

Anything is enjoyable when played with a friend, especially PDZ co-op. It's not great, but it's not bad. It's cool as a "So this is what online co-op potential can be for this new generation, huh?"

As a launch title, I enjoyed it a lot. The multiplayer modes were pretty fun too, despite how slow the movement was.

The xb1 is my primary console and I never noticed. I just use PayPal or my debit card on file to buy anything.

I think it has to do that 360 store front was never built to use actual currency. You were suppose to use Microsoft Points.

It's weirder still because you can add money to your account - you can use that balance to buy Xbox One or PC games on their store, on the console or via webpage.

And you can use that same balance to buy 360 games, but only on the 360. If you buy them elsewhere you have to pay directly with a credit card. If you were incapable of buying them at all or there was a separate balance between the two, it would make more sense. I have no doubt there is a technical explanation for it, but it's still bafflingly stupid.

Holy shit $2.49 for Bomberman?! I'm in and it plays really good. I should try if people are playing online still...

This is the sale I've long waited for.

I grabbed:

Viva Pinata
Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise
Kameo: Elements of Power
Banjo-Tooie
Perfect Dark
Perfect Dark Zero
Jetpac: Refueled

Already had Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts.

I finally have ALL of Rare's games on 360 sans the Kinect games (and Grabbed by the Ghoulies if you count XB Originals, that one was still $10 though).

A long time of waiting, now the waiting is over. Honestly I'd call me 360 complete. I might bite on something (still eyeing Blue Dragon and Bomberman), but I pretty much have every game I've ever wanted a 360 for.

Got Metal Slug XX, Doom 1&2 and Wolf 3D. Happily some of the prices were even cheaper here in Australian dollars than USD!

Final Fight double impact is great, but has some always online shit or whatever. Can't even pause the game.

I'm guessing you don't own an Xbox One? Lol.

Nope. I even bought a copy of Rare Replay for $8 when it was on sale just to have if I ever got one, but I'm not interested enough to buy one for now. I don't mind spending $25-ish on the 360 games for the system I have now.

Why's PayPal hit or miss? I've used it plenty of times on the Xbox one, really easy and quick

Wasn't the always online aspect only an issue for the PS3 version? Seem to remember that being a huge problem for some back during the month long PSN downtime.

Grabbed Alice: Madness Returns.

Been meaning to try it out for some time, not regretting it so far.

(American Mcgee's Alice that comes free with it though it a bit harder to get into... waaaaayyyyyy old).

Grabbed:

Undead Nightmare
Fable 2
Shadows of the Damned

Is Blue Dragon worth picking up, or is it going to live forever in my backlog?

Judging by this thread and it's big cult following I'd say yes. It's 5 bucks.

I've never played, but at this price what the hell.

If the base code isn't expandable or compatible with what they are using for their store now they will never be able to make them work together.
Similar to when console generations happen and the hardware winds up being able to handle backwards compatibility.
