Jesus at the people ITT who read a few Gaf threads and now think they know how much of a failure, or how unpopular Destiny 1 was.

The game was extremely popular despite its flaws. You'll have to start accepting that.

Shotties and Snipers as Heavy is the best thing. Fucking cancer in PVP.

Putting snipers and shotguns into the heavy slot + making pvp 4v4 is a positive sign for me that that they are gonna make pvp be closer to Halo than Destiny 1 was. Which to me is a nothing but a good thing

Watched it with 2 friends and we loved it.

Came here to check your reactions and of course everybody hates it.

You guys need to cheer the fuck up.

It's really not fun anymore.

Video games!

Nah, I fucking loved it. I was hoping they would say dedicated servers for pvp.

GAF loves to hate on Destiny and that's fine. Let them hate and we'll enjoy the fun.

I really am curious as to what they mean by "dungeons" in adventure mode. I too wish they were launching with more than 1 raid, but if these dungeons are fleshed out and rewarding, I think I can get behind the idea of 1 end game raid until the next DLC.

Im still gonna be hoping for a 2nd raid for the base game though.

Yeah I'm with you there. I am excited for the idea of what looks like more urban environments to mess around in. Out of all the places I wanted to see in Destiny 1 the City really was the one I wanted to see the most really.

They literally told us there is more to do. Literally told us there is more density to the areas we explore.

They literally said this.

So while we are both assuming indeed, the assumption this game will /not/ be content starved and that 1 raid will be fine is a lot safer.
I'm not mad about it but I just want the ability to go with the base game in my possession "I kind of want to do a raid" "well you have the choice between X and Y" "I've done X too much, let's do Y". That way I don't get burned out on raiding with that one raid. Also that would allow for more weapon variety too for the initial game.

There are two shaded squares next to the Class icon. So two subclasses confirmed?

Ugh..

this worst take away from this image is that weapon have those stupid perks on them again. I wish those would be gone and the weapons themselves can just be unique enough with varying stats.

I hope to god we at least get literal stat numbers so when something says "Moderately increases aim but sharply decreases range" we can actually tell what that means.

It was released on four systems and was hyped due to Bungie's last IP being Halo. Of course it's going to sell millions on hype alone.

And that changes it being a massive success how? If it was just hype alone, it would've died not too long after release, after it failed living up to it's hype, not become even more popular with time.

"Phoenix Dive" eh?

There seems to be a mysterious third ability cooldown on the HUD, so I'm guessing its a new ability tied to your super.
Leak implied it was another ability. Hunters had something I forgot, Warlocks had the effects of ward of dawn without blocking shots (ie. damage boost or overshield), Titans have some cover they can drop that does block shots.

Occasionally in Destiny 1, there were times when you could diverge from story missions into secret branches.

For example, you could move from a Hive mission into a Fallen ship and launch a mini mission where you have to deal with a wave of enemies with a timer, and receive a pretty top tier exotic sniper for it.

Or you could go through a secret passage during a mission in the vault of glass and get a whole different ending to the mission, complete with an item that launched a new quest.

I'm hoping they do more like that. Having the community discover this stuff was amazing.

As someone who played the hell out of Destiny but struggled to get through the last expansion, I was hoping for them to actually shake things up. I'm sure I'll still buy this because it's a great value, but I'm certainly underwhelmed.

It seems a lot of people expected something that to put it simply just isn't Destiny. This game sold more than 20M copies on console, has a huge and devoted fanbase. If you played the game, there's simply no way to point at things like the new treasures, undiscovered sites, caves, sidequest missions, the campaign presentation, character involvement, class rehash, new weapon types, new planets, clans integration, PvP changes, etc and be like...."yeah, whatever."

You either didn't spend much time on Destiny or your interest in the genre itself is very small. Nothing is perfect and this certainly won't be but the changes are looking great. It feels like the vision they had in the first place.

I keep hearing "if you've played the game..." as if this isn't a sequel meant to bring new people in. The presentation did a very bad job of making those who haven't played Destiny feel welcome and the game itself does just seem like Destiny 1: But Better. That's not a bad thing, mind you, but can you not see how some might not be enthused if they weren't before?

The number of "we'll enjoy the fun without you :)" type posts from Destiny fans in this thread don't help either.

Yeah I remember all of that stuff. But the dungon thing sounded like it was more dynamic and you would find it by doing patrol/adventure mode. THAT is what I wanted from D1 that I never got, and I really hope it lives up to my expectations for this game.

Oh right. I believe it was shadestep, essentially a dodge move.

Leak said all hunters get shadestep:

20 million isn't just hype alone. Expansions dominating digital storefronts for several months after release, even when the SKUs on platforms with significantly higher install bases have been dropped isn't just hype alone. Reprints with expansion codes included charting on NPD and other sales charts when there are cheaper digital upgrade options isn't just hype alone. Don't be disingenuous, Destiny is a behemoth and that isn't stopping any time soon

I am kinda eh on the gameplay. It just looked like Destiny but without any of the improvements, I was really hoping for. Weirdly enough, it was the trailer and the supplemental stuff (Like the planets) that saved my hype for this. I dunno, I might pick up a game of the year edition of Destiny for cheap and give it a go, see what the expansions added and how it changed before I make any final judgments on this.

So a couple months ago I posted in the OT that I hoped D2 would launch with 2 rqaids at least and I was shot down pretty quick. I think the idea being that most MMOs (i don't really play them so I don't know) tend to only have 1 "active" raid at a time, something about splitting player base or some such thing. I can search my comments and maybe find it.

Does anyone with more experience have any insight?

Couldn't catch the stream. Did they say something about matchmaking for all content?

Yeah, Raids and Nightfalls will have a in game pairing system called Guided Gamers. Not 100% sure how it's gonna work, but it looked seamless and simple which is good.

Are they allowing anyone to livestream from the gameplay event or do we have to relying on written content?

Any word on how much bigger the worlds are gonna be compared to D1?

Nothing exact but one of the presenters during the stream said the EDZ was bigger than anything in D1. No idea if the other areas will be similar.

We know the EDZ (European Dead Zone) is roughly twice as large as the biggest zone in D1. Which I think is vanilla Cosmodrome.

Although I wished it was bigger, I'll be happy with that as long as the patrol content in D2 is fun and interesting rather than the boring ones we got in D1.

Thanks, that's great to hear! Off to preorder for the beta then!

I have never heard that kind of thing. Maybe with DLC content. Personally I think two is better because like I said, it allows raiding to have a little more longevity if you can a do second raid if all you really ever do is PvE stuff.
