Press Reactions to Wonder Woman

I notice that happens more and more nowadays. Particularly relevant, with people beating the same joke into the ground, because the negative review they saw said it, and they themselves are not clever enough to come up with new material.
If a Movie have its fault, it have its fault. So you can't shit on a shitty movie by pointing out its shittyness?

While the film quietly screened for select critics earlier that weekend and will continue to screen over the coming days, official reactions from writers and their outlets are under a strict embargo – what we’re looking at here are reactions from normal folks, fanboys, and fangirls who managed to see director Zack Snyder‘s new movie before most of the world.

And this is from the OP:

So, about a week ago or so ago, WB held press screenings for Wonder Woman. While the full review embargo is still up until late May, the social media embargo has been lifted. Press who saw the movie are free to share their early thoughts/reactions.

I know some people on GAF don't read the OP, but it's always good to have proof. Maybe I should put pictures in...

Grain of salt required. BvS got a good deal of hype and news of people loving the screening and applauding and shit. Same with SS. Seems to be manufactured hype trains surround the DCU. I'll wait for reviews. Hopefully its actually good and fun cause Wonder Woman deserves it.

Again that was random people. This is critics. Which is why you noticed that people who shat on the previous DCEU are raving here. The people who will write the reviews you are waiting for, are saying it's great. So....they'll change their minds in a few days?

We're getting overwhelmingly positive impressions from critics and y'all are still being shitty. Lord.

Even Batman v. Superman got positive early impresions, so don't trust these too much.

I'm really excited for the film and hopefully it delivers. Got my tickets ready.

I wish more people understood the difference between fans and critics in this thread. This is sounding like it's gonna be good, I'm officially excited for it.

Trailers looked good. I liked the other DC movies and generally only like the Marvel that are 100% comedy (Guardians, Ant Man) or barely have any jokes in them (Winter Soldier). I hope they didn't add suicide squad/Ultron levels of constant never ending joking. Even Lethal Weapon and Rush Hour have less jokes per second than some of these Marvel movies do and those sold themselves as Action Comedies.

3. Rough parts? Sure. But guys, guys, YOU GUYS! You'll truly LAUGH. And you'll walk out, for once, feeling downright inspired by a DC movie.

Do people really walk out of stuff like Age of Ultron feeling inspired?

I'm more than keen on period piece superhero movies, so if the reviews come in strong I'm willing to give it a shot, even as the veritable opposite of a Wonder Woman fan.

I mean we gotta wait for reviews proper, but critics saying this is imo a good sign.

I always felt something was different with this movie. Everything was too quiet. In a good way. With BvS and SS we were hearing from insiders and critics that both movies were a mess/went through some shit.

With this movie we heard none of that and still haven't. Not we are getting positive reception from critics.

They probably do, but they're not really reading. They're just seeing that these are tweets, and because they're tweets, that means they're bullshit.

They're just in a rush to call bullshit is all.

I feel like it's always these same press outlets every time in these kind of early impressions threads. You know, the IGNs and Colliders and Gawker-esque sites of the world.

This is also a good point.

IGN and Slashfilm ain't the same as, say, Vulture & AV Club. Or Variety & THR. Or Chaw at Film Freak.

The people I am waiting to write the reviews I am waiting for have not commented. We are talking about a number of reviews in the single digits here. This isn't a consensus and I don't have a lot of faith in outlets like Collider.

I think they know they have a crossover with an audience that's into 'geek' media.

Not to downplay these reactions. It's better than random twitter users.

Exactly. But I should say that I don't want to denigrate IGN, Slashfilm, etc etc. It's not as if their impressions are invalid, but they all fit within a pattern that has congealed at this point.

Definitely, I don't want to downplay their usefulness either.

Waiting to see how I feel about it. I know it's a solid and good movie, but I'm hoping it's more than good. Lots of these critic impressions tend to read binary and hard to gauge.

But the third act talk is a shame. I feel like nearly every origin movie (and blockbusters in general) struggle with how to stick the landing, even the better ones like Batman Begins and Iron Man.

Happy that Gal and Pine are good and good together. The Steve Trevor relationship is a tricky one. Worst case was always Diana being into him because he's the first man she meets when he's actually really lame. But it reads like there's a respect and bond formed.

Only if Wonder Woman kills.
Funny. The dude who's neck is being snapped is a director on Wonder Woman. Snyder DNA is all over this.

Anyways, I'm glad to hear some positive buzz. I'm guessing it's going to get a bump in tracking.

Fair point but Kate Erbland is not a puff reviewer at all and she was very positive about WW.

Slightly encouraging but I'll wait for the less "enthusiast" driven outlets to rave about it before I start planning the party.
