Step 1: Release overpriced accessories.
Step 2: Rerelease overpriced accessories in a multitude of increasingly desirable colors and designs over a relatively short time period.
Step 3: Profit.

Limited Edition joy-cons released NES Classic style. Watch the money pour in.

Everything is up on Amazon Japan. Will ship to the US:

https://www.amazon.co.jp/b/ref=sr_aj?node=5304194051&ajr=0
I have no idea where to click there. I want the case and the new Joy-Cons, but I don't even know if they can be shipped to Argentina.

EDIT: you can choose to display the website in English. That's it, I'm getting those controllers if they can be shipped here!

EDIT 2: No shipping to Argentina. The dream is dead.

...hate me...
That Japanese price doesn't make it seem like you save any money here. Maybe 20 bucks?
20 bucks would be a great savings for the Switch at this point.

I think the price in Japan is just the MSRPs of Switch + Splatoon 2 combined, just throws those stickers in for good measure.

It's more about getting that box in the stores and the Joy-con colours. Switch is not in need of a price cut yet.

First the neon Switch bundle, then the yellow joy-cons, and now this. I swear Nintendo is doing everything in its power to make me regret getting the gray joy-con bundle on launch day.

Huh, I wonder why North America isn't getting the watermelon joy-cons in time for Splatoon 2 :-/
I assume they know the thirst is REAL in Japan for Splatoon and are (wisely) going to send those JoyCons there for launch.

But to be fair NoA hasn't confirmed plans on this stuff. We will know soon enough.

Not those colors (green, pink), they will be available in autumn (spring for us).
They have blue, red, yellow and grey right now
Thanks, I'll wait until then and try to get them delivered here. I could preorder the yellow ones from Amazon Spain right now, but these green/pink ones are more tempting.

Nintendo is making this so hard for me, i love all the different joycon colors but I can't afford or need to buy so many.

Already want the arms and Splatoon ones, and the thing has been out for 2 months and a half.

Just imagine the joycon selection 5 years down the road... Fuck my wallet

Boy do I want those green and pink joy-cons. I hope they go up for sale in NA soon :(. Amazon.de and Amazon.uk won't ship to to the US and I was too slow on the draw to pre-order the ones from Amazon Japan

I just love how Nintendo is bringing colours back! I really, really like controllers in different colours, especially when the Switch regognizes the colour of the joycon. Makes couch MP so much easier when everyone immediately knows what controller is theirs. No matter how drunkely you are playing FIFA, you will always see that pink joycon and thus control the right team. Or am I only one who has tried to play with a team and got angry because controls wouldn't work, just to notice that I tried to move the wrong team the whole time...

I know that there was Wiimotes (and handhelds) with lots of colours, but this is different. I like the neon colours so much. Makes me think my childhood <3

EDIT. And that green one, oh boy oh boy oh boy...

Need to wait for sometime tho, gotta gather some money. Anyone need a bright young boy? Blond, very smart, only 2,5 years old? Will consider changing for a full set of different colour joycons? Nah, not really, he is a great son. Although...

Where have you been? Controllers in different colors have been a big thing this and last gen.

I'm not aware of a system ever recognising the colour before. Has that been a thing?

Ugh? You can get XBox 1/360 and PlayStation 4 controllers in a slew of colors. Now you can pretty much get a XB1 custom controller in any color variation.

You could get N64 controllers in any colour you liked, but the console doesn't know what colour controller you are using, and neither does the PS4. (The PS4 can do a similar thing with the light colour, though.)

Again, his point was that the Switch identifies the colour of the controller. It knows if you are using a grey, red or blue joy-con, and can display that information in-game to make identifying your player easier. Can the XB1 do that?

eh, it's pretty clear his talking about two things. Bringing colors back(which, never left), and how the systems recognizes colors to identify the player, which to my knowledge is new.

Im going to have so many joy cons in so many different colors soon. :lol
I need them to calm down now. It's been months. Already have Blue, Red, and soon Watermelon, and Yellow. :(

The system literally and visually recognizes the color of the joycon when you click them in on the screen. Nice little touch and one of the surprising little things. Also, on the controller select screen.
