Destiny 2 Reveal Info Summary Thread: Trailers, Videos, Details, Screens, More

RoboPlato

I'd be in the dick
As long as it matches the super's elemental property. So a Solar Fusion Rifle would deal heavy damage to an opponent using Golden Gun.
Oh yeah, that's what I meant. Sun breakers already drive me nuts in D1 PvP so seeing the solar handcannons melt Dawnbreakers in two shots was made me smile.

Hmm it drops on a Friday? I might also take that Friday and up to Wednesday off to relax and chill.

I'm praying my bye-week is that Saturday this year, or at the very least a home game so I could schedule kick-off early as fuck and disappear afterwards. Birthday is on the 7th though so I feel like my roommates aren't going to let me have any peace anyway

Man, I really hope that the raid is going to be in The Tower, as that imgur page speculates.

I'd love to have a raid that feels really closely tied to the campaign story, and not some kind of weird afterthought. "You destroyed the Black Garden and saved the universe......now go to this other place that is only tangentially related."
"You killed Crota and saved the universe.......now go kill Crota again."

So are they finally separating PVP from PVE. Supers and guns in general seem weaker in PVE than in PVP. They are taking bullet sponges to a whole new level.

Yeah one of my favourite changes/additions to Destiny 2 is the new weapon slot system.

Being able to carry elemental primaries as well as a kinetic primary is great. Really great.

But it isn't a one hit kill anymore is it still? It didn't seem to look that way. I think they are trying to get rid of a lot of one hit kill stuff.

supers two shot other supers but one shot normal guardians
and energy weapons do more damage to active supers

Nice.

Really? I thought you had to match its elemental property. I thought that was one of the big points about carrying two handcannons, one kinetic and one elemental.

Now I'm confused.

No confusion necessary. Senior Sandbox Designer at Bungie trumps any Streamer/YT impressions.

And there's still a reason to carry one Kinetic and one Elemental of a type. If that's you're preferred type of weapon or the PvP map supports it best. They also should have separate ammo stash. I would think anyways.

Well this is even better because now my energy weapon will be effective against ALL supers and not just a single element. Great.

Things like this mean I won't be able to go back to Destiny 1 (not that I'd want to anyway).

You'll have your elemental handcannons, it just doesn't have to match the element, you'll still do bonus damage with the elemental one when someone pops a super.

I wonder if they'll revamp Nightstalker as well. Shadowshot is too good to not use in endgame activities so I wonder if they'll take away the damage bonus?

So when are we getting the next info dump for this? Need to hear a lot more about these new features they mentioned on the reveal stream, like more patrol stuff and what not.

Very mixed feelings so far as a lapsed player (quit after TDB then came back for TK and quit again 1 & 1/2 months after TK). Was expecting more of a focus on new things, more classes/races, enemy factions etc instead of fixes which we were all expecting. The pvp and weapon slot changes don't sit well with me. I was hoping for a separate balance for PVE/PVP. Year 1 despite its content issues had good endgame gear, with interesting perks/effects, then they all got nerfed into the ground for pvp balance. Also being only 4v4 means even less room for error as someone who was at best inconsistent in terms of k/d ratio. Framerate and FOV are a lil disappointing too but I can probably get used to it again.

Have a ton of q's that hopefully will be answered before launch:

-Will changing heavy weapons cost all of its ammo again? If I have to constantly switch between sniper/rockets/fusion rifle etc I hope not.
-Will the beta need ps+? (I can't remember if the 1st game's beta did)
-How many missions, strike etc exist? How are strikes different than dungeons/lost sectors?
-Anything at all with ships? Wasn't expecting ship combat but some use for them. Like a personal space/storage access like the liset in warframe should be doable. Or an on rails mission.
-Customization details. Are we stuck with shaders again? Can we get warframe style colouring options? Weapon skins? Transmog?
-How big are these worlds? 2x the cosmodrone isn't impressive. I thought the leaks mentioned massive open worlds?
-Can we turn the ghost off? His constant lame jokes are annoying.
-Will the activity lay out be like d1? Will the new expansions completely invalidate old content? I mean if they have tons of new stuff then fair enough but d1 had tons of content just languish in limbo. It took how long to update the raids? Strikes/pvp maps got ignored. Will this happen again?
-Is infusion still in? Will I need to refind all the exotics again or can I level them to max once an expansion comes out?
-Will perks and weapon stats have actual #s or more vague bars? Will I be able to get enough to make up for the loss of int/disp etc? Can we change or customize some of these perks? (I think you could do this in d1 right?)
-New weapon types? Laser/energy based weapons? something more alien/sci-fi plz
-Is the story just about the cabal, my least fav faction? Where is the exo stranger, who are the nine? More about the darkness? This game's story feels like a stop gap.
-Any improvements to controls/movement? I remember in d1 getting caught on geometry all the time and being stopped instantly, as well as stamina being annoying and being unable to run till it fully recharged. Some parkour or air dashing would be nice too. Basically warframe style movement/mobility. It would really improve the game imo and allow for boss variety beyond massive tanky bullet sponge.
-Any details on currencies/resources? 3oc back?
-Anything on faction progression? Are they unified now? or less grindy? Give me pts/toekn to pick what I want to unlock on lvl up plz
-Will emblems and shaders still take up equipment slots or are they account wide now? Less junk to fill up my vault with plz

I dunno so far it seems like more D1 with even more streamlining. Was hoping for more rpg focus. More stats, gear slots deeper skill trees etc. Depth basically. Their business model worries me too but if they actually fixed their content pipeline maybe the expansions will be worth the price this time.Hunter seems like they're getting the redheaded step child treatment again :/ Hope we get a reliable info drip up to release. The fixes like matchmaking and actual clan stuff is nice I was just hoping for more info on what's new in this version. So far this seems more iterative and less evolution but I guess that's what more ppl want. Really hope bungie does a stream with 30-50 min of just going around doing patrol stuff. Show us these worlds, the dungeons etc.

Great thread, exactly what I was looking for. Having never played Destiny cause I don't have a console, I'll go in blind on this one. Let's hope the PC release date is not later than November.

I hope they don't cut back on the orb production

Agreed, although I'm hoping Arcstrider can actually create orbs like a normal super now. I think we saw it behaving normally in the story mission? Arc Blade was so bad in D1 so I'm glad they overhauled that.

Hard to do that when lots of people don't ever do the raids.

Hopefully Guided Games works as intended and slightly fixes that :)

I know my clan will be down to help out some solo players (GPNZ, subclan DGAF ANZ), can't wait to get stuck in on that clan banner too...flex that artistic muscle lol.

Well yeah, I think that's really the problem. They don't want the resolution of the campaign to take place in a high-level endgame activity that few people will engage in. Shit, now that I think about it the campaigns always end in story missions, not even Strikes. Or they have a false conclusion -- "We captured Skolas so the threat is over, but if you want you can go beat him again in Prison of Elders". I'd love it if re-taking The Tower was something you had to do in a raid, but I suspect that the assault on the Tower will be a Strike or Story mission, and then for the raid you'll go beat the big bad on his command ship.

Are scout rifles still in? Don't see them on any list anywhere.

Is the only beta info still that it'll be "this summer"? I'm hoping PC beta date is announced when the release date is confirmed.

Eurogamer was saying PS4 "alpha" in June, much like D1. If they follow D1 schedule, that would mean beta for all in mid-July.

Hope not. That was annoying.

Campaign is bigger than Destiny 1's I believe.

-How big are these worlds? 2x the cosmodrone isn't impressive. I thought the leaks mentioned massive open worlds?

I mean, 2x the entire Cosmodrome is pretty damn big.

-Can we turn the ghost off? His constant lame jokes are annoying.

The mute button.

-Is infusion still in? Will I need to refind all the exotics again or can I level them to max once an expansion comes out?

They haven't said it but I can 100% guarantee infusion or something like it is in the game. They'll never make re-get shit again.

-New weapon types? Laser/energy based weapons? something more alien/sci-fi plz

That's already known. SMGs, grenade launchers, some weird laser wave weapon.

-Is the story just about the cabal, my least fav faction? Where is the exo stranger, who are the nine? More about the darkness? This game's story feels like a stop gap.

The main part of the story is the Cabal, which is the only race that hasn't had a major story based around it.

It will likely control very similar but hopefully they got rid of the sprint cool down.

-Anything on faction progression? Are they unified now? or less grindy? Give me pts/toekn to pick what I want to unlock on lvl up plz

Factions are back. Dunno what you mean by "unified." And they haven't been grindy since TTK.

-Will emblems and shaders still take up equipment slots or are they account wide now? Less junk to fill up my vault with plz

Er... They've been account-wide since summer 2015.

I dunno so far it seems like more D1 with even more streamlining. Was hoping for more rpg focus. More stats, gear slots deeper skill trees etc. Depth basically.

Destiny has plenty of depth but if you want more stats and numbers it simply isn't the game for you. Its simplicity is what makes the game work and part of why it's so popular.

To people who were super invested in getting the PC version, does a delay on it's release ruin the games experience for you in anyway? My roommate says that if they don't get to be part of the first release then it's not worth owning, and that the console version should be held back for the pc release, but I wanted to hear on people who were super excited on getting the pc version day one what their opinion on it is.

Competitive players would love to jump into Private Matches ASAP as it would allow them to test weapons, abilities, etc.. to theorycraft what's going to be most effective. It also allows them to Practice and Scrimmage.

It hasn't officially been confirmed but there was a clip of a few Streamers/YT guys talking and one of them stated that Bungie staff had been discussing with someone else that there was not going to be any Private Matches at launch.

I was confirmed in the ign video with Luke Smith.

Oh yeah, that's what I meant. Sun breakers already drive me nuts in D1 PvP so seeing the solar handcannons melt Dawnbreakers in two shots was made me smile.

TripleWRECK corrected this on his stream and said ANY elemental weapon is supereffective against roaming supers. It doesn't have to match :D

It will be disappointing if they confirm that PC is releasing a while after console, but it won't ruin the experience for me. Most likely I'll pick up the PS4 version on launch day, play that until PC version comes out, and be wowed by the 4k 60 fps goodness and KBM controls. Might end up keeping both versions to play with DGaffers who aren't making the switch from PS4 to PC.

That seems like too much to me. As soon as anyone hears a super activate, they're going to switch to an Elemental weapon and down their opponent pretty quick. I guess I just have to trust that Bungie's playtesting shows that it makes things more balanced or interesting.
