Gran Turismo Sport Beta Thread

couldn't find OEM spring rate values for the newest WRX Sti, but from an older model:

front: 224lbs/in ==> 40kgf/cm
rear: 195lbs/in ==> 34.8kgf/cm

Car weighs 1400kg, so about 350kg per wheel, could be maybe 550kg in hard cornering and some understeer putting extra inbalance on the outer front wheel, that's +200kg:
200kgf / 40kgf/cm = 5cm of suspension travel on compression tops from cornering without bumps or extreme elevation changes.

Now don't ask me about travel on bumps, that's a lot more complex

Fanatec PS4 compatible wheel is imminent.

What does this mean? Outside of using GIMX, this will likely be the best wheel you can get for the PS4 and GT Sport.

There is a rumoured Thrustmaster wheel coming out but most indications point to it being a rebranding of the TC-PC wheel and not a direct drive servo wheel.

I am intrigued by that as well, but from the name of the wheel (Fanatec CSL Elite Racing) it is very likey it is a PS4/PC base (at this point, Fantec site offers only XBONE/PC version of that base: https://www.fanatec.com/eu-en/wheel-bases/csl-elite-wheel-base-eu.html)

Since they actually teased something PS4 related few days ago, I think Assetto jumped a shark a bit, but the announcement is imminent (notice how graphics on that "hardware" resemble some of the functionalities that G29 have with the manettino)

Regarding Thrustmaster, I think T700 will be a DD wheel. We shall wait and see.

It will be interesting to see what level of quality and price bracket they go for if they do a DD wheel. A SimExperience DD wheel is pretty different from a OSW or DSD DD wheel.

If I had to take a guess, TT is doing this because PD wants a reliable wheel for events and "eSports". Belt wheels + repeated and extended abuse = broken wheels = hassle.

If they charge $1000 USD... I don't think there are going to be many normal customers. If they charge less, then I would skeptical about the level of quality of the wheel. That said, if they pull off a ~$600 DD wheel, more power to them.

I just want my damn GT3 RS to work. :( Does GT Sport support the Logitech G27 or just the G29? You'd think Fanatec's G27 emulation mode would work like it does in GT5 if Polyphony supports older wheels (like they've always done).

Physics-based modelling of tyre flex can only be a good thing, but I've always wondered why devs bother graphically representing it. It's hardly noticeable during gameplay and only really apparent in super-slomo zoomed gifs or in photomode, and normally only on the player's vehicle.

I guess it's another tickbox that once one dev does it, all the other have to as well to maintain parity.

it should work fine via CronusMAX. It'll emulate a G29.

Awesome, I didn't know they had updated it to support Fanatec wheels. Might have to give it a try if the GT3 RS doesn't work in the final version of GT Sport out of the box.

I think this would be highly unlikely with Sony's current policies regarding unofficial support, especially with the new Fanatec official PS4 wheel imminent.

Why does the beta have to be tied to a PSN ID...

I got my beta code through on an old account and I put it on my new account. Downloads and loads up fine but the PD servers want my old ID to authenticate with. Log into old account and can't load the game.

This was in the first batch of EU codes. Wonder if it's relaxed with PD yet?

Amazing amount of detail.I love GT but I still can't get over how bad the cars STILL sound and no skidmarks is also a REAL bummer for me.

After fine tuning my T300 in Assetto Corsa, GTSport just feels so liveless and uninvolving. The horrible engine sounds doesn't help either. :(

Played this at a friends house, and dont get me wrong because the gameplay was super fun but the graphics during gameplay were disapointing, the IQ is very shimmery and the 2D trees are still there.

Maybe im spoiled by playing Horizon 3 at 4K60 but i left disapointed by the in game visuals.

2d trees are in every 60 fps racing game.

FH 3 is a totally different beast especially on PC at max details + 4K. Not a fair comparison at all.

News at 11. 4K images look cleaner than 1080p.

Congrats on the sex playing a game in 4k on PC.
