Xbox Back Compat Super Sale, starts May 16, up to 75%+ off, 275+ titles

Great sale - I can't find my physical copy of Black Ops 2 from the double pack, so getting it for $8.50 thanks to having $11.50 in credit works for me.

Really considering RDR but willing to risk it will be free or part of a "Special Edition" of RDR2...

I have already beaten the game so it would be just for the collection. But man did I love that game.

I've scanned the thread but haven't seen this answered, sorry if I missed it.

Just ordered an Xbox, is due to be delivered after the sale. Is it possible to purchase these games via a website?

Sure, I just bought a few on xbox.com.

Just search for them there on the top right, it will then display results and you look under the Xbox 360 section.

Hey guys,

Should I get Left 4 Dead 2 if I intend to only play single player? I'm new to the series.

Depends. I was a huge L4D 1/2 fan and put lots of hours into the single player campaign before going online. But I don't know if that's the norm. You'll definitely get more out of it if you play online, but if you find the gameplay in single player fun enough then you can definitely mine a lot of fun from replaying the levels.

No local co-op for you? I had fun by myself. The A.I. is functional enough. It's just vastly improved with even one other person if not just for the fun you'll have communicating dangers to each other, or last second saves.

Guys, I need an info about Resonance of Fate, just because I see it on the store.
(I know it isn't on sale now)

The game was never on sale, right?

(Priced 20€ in Europe)

The xb1 is my primary console and I never noticed. I just use PayPal or my debit card on file to buy anything.

I was talking about the situation in which you want to use your Microsoft wallet money to purchase something. You can use MS wallet without any problems to buy XONE and Windows 10 games, but you can't do it with the 360 games.

They basically have two stores which don't communicate with each other in some aspects. It's unacceptable imo considering the fact that X360 games are visible on the Microsoft store and you're transferred to the old store at the moment of purchase (so in other terms you're screwed if you added money to the wallet and can't spend it).

So Flashback becomes unplayable towards the end... I'm at a point where I have to fight three enemies in a gunfight, which is already a chore with the new gameplay, but there's also a moving instakill laser to spice it up. And for some reason if I lose there the game gets stuck on an infinite loading screen. Uninstalled (maybe I'll try it on the 360 to see if it's playable there *edit - nope, same bug).
The game isn't bad, but riddled with bugs, and the gameplay needs some work (which is a shame when the original was especially smooth on that aspect).

My haul:

Army of Two
Castlevania SOTN
Dead Space Ignition
Ghostbusters
Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime
Rayman 3 HD
Red Faction: Battlegrounds
Red Dead Redemption Undead Nightmare Pack
Shadows of the Damned
Triggerheart Exelica

Majority of these are just me double dipping on games I already own on other platforms, but for only a few bucks each how could I say no?

Thanks for your Flashback updates. Was considering picking this up but will probably pass due to backlog and the issues you note. I remember enjoying the demo enough upon release.

I'm also making similar late moves. I think I'm done but I figure I might as well double dip or pull the trigger on games I was on the fence about. I've been buying up a lot of the cheap card and domino games, so I'm definitely deep diving.

my list so far
  • Shadows of the Damned
  • Castlevania SoTN
  • Red Dead Redemption + DLC
  • Blue Dragon

Considering maybe Fable 2 or 3? I'm mainly looking for games not available on PC or where the 360 version is preferred. Any suggestions? I already have Lost Odyssey from when it was free

Fable 2 is Xbox exclusive and is a better game than Fable 3. F3 used to be available on Steam, but apparently not any more so I guess that's an exclusive now too unless you find keys on sale somewhere else.

Sorry if asked earlier, but anyone knows any deals on Xbox money cards online? Looking to buy at least $20 worth of games here.

Unless you are buying the games on a real Xbox 360, Xbox money won't do you any good as you can't buy BC titles with it on an X1.

I had one rule: don't double dip on games own physically or on PS3 or Steam.

So far I've grabbed:

Shadows of the damned - one of those games I regret trading in
Ghostbusters - good buzz, never bought
Ikaruga - classic, never played
Blops 2 - traded in, regret
Wolfenstein 3d - completes my classic ID on Xbox collection.
Alice - seems cool, never played.

On the fence for: double dragon neon and earthworm Jim hd.

This sale has been a huge pain in the ass because for some reason, after buying 3 games with my debit card and 2 with my credit, for some reason the attempts to buy further games started to get flagged or something and my bank refused the confirmation or something. I hope the lady of client support is right and these issues go away after 24 hours.

Huge pain in the ass i had to go to buy a gift card and connect my 360 in order to buy all the stuff i wanted.

Anyway this is my haul, i went CRAAAZY on this sale:

Alan Wake American Nightmare
Skate 3
Beyond Good and Evil HD
Blue Dragon
Dark Void
Dragon's Lair
HALF-MINUTE HERO
ScaryGirl
Ikaruga
Triggerheart Exelica
Ugly Americans
Unbound Saga
Omega Five
That shoot'm up in Japanese
Hydro Thunder
Garou Mark of the Wolves
KOF 2002UM
KOF 98 UM
NEOGEO Battler Colosseum
Samurai Showdown 2
NIN2-JUMP
Just Cause 2
Toy Story 3
Sam And Max
Sam and Max save de world
Phantom Breaker: Battle Groups
Skullgirls
Trails HD
Ghosts Busters: Sanctum of Slime
Foul Play
Medal of Honor airborne

And Mirror's Edge: Catalyst. I was not really interested in this game, just wanted to check if my card will work to buy something in the One store and it worked, so my issue is only when i try to buy something on the xbox 360 store.

MS really needs to work on a proper cart system on their site. I have about 6 games I want to buy( in anticipation of getting a scorpio, and I can't just add them all to the cart and buy as one transaction? Come on, bruh....

I have to miss out on this sale but I definitely tried. Have no 360. Tried to ask my friend here to ask her friends of anyone has a 360, no one did. Asked in the city thread here on gaf and no response. It's too hard to trust people in this world so who can trust me. Understandable. But the online store should accept wallet buying... That's the ridiculous part.

Oh well, tried. Looked at ebgames website but the hdd sold separately is more than the console.

They really need to just combine the stores. How hard is it? They would sell so much more BC if they made it easier to buy.

Yeah, I mean I haven't had an xbox system in over 2 years( sold off my 360, haven't bought into One yet), so I really didn't know how hard it was to do this. Even just trying to look through their site, I had to actually type the names of the games I wanted in the search bar just to bring up their store page. Unless I missed it, I didn't see any quick link reference to this sale.

Can't you just add a PayPal account and buy through the Xbox website to use your Xbox credit. A pain but that's the way around it if you don't have a 360.

You don't have any rental businesses in your city? you can just rent a 360 for a couple of hours, download your profile and make your purchases.

Possibly.. Just with no car it gets hard.

After walking four miles I didn't want to do that again.

It just gets expensive when your on limited funds and food is super expensive now. I have twenty five dollars on my wallet which isn't much but just kind of disappointing the store is so far behind.

I may look for the renting thing or try to look on Craigslist today or something

They really need to just combine the stores. How hard is it?

I think they could do this but there would be some real problems involved. How do you handle the actual 360? There are still lots of them out there.

You could rewrite the 360 OS so that it links to the new store, and deal with the inevitable problems and fallout from it. No telling what it would break in regards to DLC support in old games, etc. This is really unlikely due to expense and they probably don't want to be working on the 360 to such a degree. You'd also have to re-write the emulator on the X1 for the same reason, since the 360 games on X1 think they are running on a 360 with the old 360 store interface. Again, no telling what kind of DLC headaches might be caused since the games expect the interface to be the old one.

You could just abandon the 360 and just do everything on the new store. What this would mean is that if you bought a 360 title on X1, you would not be able to play it on an actual 360 because the stores are not the same. It might simplify purchasing but you'd still have issues with the emulator so it would have to be rewritten. But at least they'd only have to test the titles that are currently BC, whereas changing the actual 360 store would mean testing every 360 game with store hooks.

It's also possible that by selling the 360 games by linking to the old store they are avoiding some legal/licensing issues that might prevent some games from being sold through the new store system.

Combining the stores is a big problem. So what they should focus on instead is QOL improvements like adding a cart system and somehow sharing the balance of your XBL credit between the two stores. This would solve most people's issues with it anyway.

I think they'll have to address the store issues eventually. Microsoft's explanation for why they couldn't do it (it would be too daunting/require too many resources) made sense in the early days of the BC program when they didn't know how many people would be using BC and we didn't know how much they'd actually support it. But now that we're almost two years into the BC program, it's clear that its been a success and that Microsoft is going to support BC for a long time. I think they now have plenty of justification to go and rectify the store issues - mainly not being able to purchase 360 titles with credit from a PC/XB1 - especially if they ever plan to bring the BC program forward to future Xbox hardware and even PC.

I went out and brought some Microsoft credit specifically for this sale... only to find out that it can't be used for backwards compatible games for some stupid reason. A good $20 bucks wasted there =\

Anyways, I'm thinking about getting at least one SNK fighting game, and I've narrowed it down between Garou and Neo Geo Battle Collosieum. I know Garou is probably the acclaimed game but I looked at some videos of NGBC and that looked really fun too. What' the best choice to get (And that also has people still playing online as well)?

What they should have done was put a separate listing on the XB1 store.

Buy game > System generates code for the 360 version of the game > System automatically redeems code > Purchase complete

It does the code stuff in the background, all you would see is maybe a small loading screen and "Purchase Complete"

I thought that was how they were going to do it in the first place, I don't know why they didn't, seems much easier and avoids issues with using balance. Making it literally a web portal to the 360 is baffling when they know how bad the store is

it may be some kind of workaround to avoid certain legal issues that might exist.
