Overwatch GOTY edition & Anniversary event confirmed

There was a time LoL champions released every two week, to compete with hon (before dota 2). He's referring to those times.

Correct and it was a horrible umbalanced time which made me quit. It is better now and you can see that with the reworks which they work on to keep the balance.

That was legitimately my favorite period of LoL. Skins one week, character the next. Miss the good ol' days.

It was a period of growth and expansion. LoL does not need that anymore, they spend more time balancing and reworking the current roster than expanding it. I think the barrier of entry is already high and anything close to 200 heroes would be overkill and even less balanced.

OW needs that, the current selection of heroes gets old and competitively they have the same shit 4-core mirror team almost every game and two varying from map/position.

As someone who hasn't played a ton of OW since last fall (although I'm itching to get into it again this summer once my work load decreases a bit):

I'm fine with the amount of heroes added. There's no need to bloat the roster unless they have some solid ideas for unique roles.

However, I'm disappointed in that only two 6v6 maps have been added. They allegedly have more in the pipeline and I understand if they want to balance the maps + make them look awesome, but it's sort of tiring to watch and play the same maps for so long. I'd love for them to use the PTR or custom servers to play test WIP maps if that would help speed the process up, or until they've skinned them for a "proper" release.

Good point. I certainly am happy about the current rate of updates

I think the events roll around at a decent pace. But I think 2 maps and 3 hero for the first year of the game is abysmal in terms of adding new content. You can definitely tell where blizzards priority lies when it comes to adding content.

I still enjoy the gameplay. But I just can't get myself to play the game in more than short stretches, largely because there's been so little content affecting the gameplay added over the course of the year

It's also crazy to me that the game doesn't have something as basic as the ability to choose what gamemode to play in competitive.

Why do people ignore the Arcade stuff? It still exists even if you personally don't play it.

But do you really need to play competitive if you just want to play another mode?

This. I only play Arcade (while my brother only plays quick play and competitive), and I'm constantly having a blast, especially with the server browser.

I've bought OW at launch and played less than 20 hours total.

Still reading about new content excite me every time

Yep, same here. Sitting at 17 hours right now.

My man. I couldn't care less about the competitive side of games.
