Get Even delayed because of Manchester Arena attack

Google Translate, sorry

"Get Even" has been moved. A press release from Bandai Namco Entertainment shows that the developers have decided to bring the title to the market later than originally planned due to the latest attack in Manchester. The story of The Farm 51, which tells the story of the burned-out mercenary Cole Black, has little to do with a plot, but there is a scene in the thriller where Black is faced with the task of freeing a young woman Her neck carries an activated bomb.

Out of respect for the victims of the attack in Manchester, which met the young audience of a concert in the night of May 23, 2017, Bandai Namco Entertainment announced that "Get Even" will be released one month later. The new release date for PC, PS4 and Xbox One was called June 23, 2017. Shortly before the release of the game the tests may be published to "Get Even". The embargo was also adapted accordingly.

makes sense, I'm cool with companies being mindful of stuff like this. good on them.

I hate that these tragedies can impact such a range of things, but I appreciate bamco thinking about the victims and doing something like this.

Bandai Namco has pushed back the release of Get Even, its upcoming survival horror game, in the wake of yesterday’s horrifying terrorist attack in Manchester, England.

“Given recent events and out of respect we have decided to postpone the commercial release of Get Even to June 23rd,” a company representative said in a statement. “We would like to express our deepest condolences to everyone concerned.”

I can't quite wrap my head around this. Get Even is a psychological conspiracy thriller where you play an amnesiac in a memory machine trying to save a girl. The full game has gone out to some reviewers. The first hour was released to prominent Youtubers months ago.

The closest it comes to resembling the Manchester events is that in one scene there's a girl, about 17-18 years old, tied to a chair with a bomb counting down. It has about as much in common as Condemned or Saw.

The game is widely tipped to get 5/10s across the board. I can't help but feel that it's a cynical excuse to delay a game in order to tighten it up. Can any reviewers shed light on this?

If you don't think that a 17-18 year old girl being threatened to be blown up closely resembles what happened in Manchester, then I'm really not sure what to say.

I find the length a little bit strange, but a video game is not important right now.

How is this bizarre? It seems they are being cautious and don't want anyone thinking they are being disrespectful. It's overly cautious at best. I can respect their position considering the game content.

Seems like a good enough reason to me.

So any game involving a female being killed through explosives should be delayed?

Do you think games set in the middle east involving terrorist attacks should be delayed if a similar event occurs in the real world, or does it not matter because those lives weren't important?

....are you kidding me?

And you still don't see why?

It's the most tangential of relations. Killing with bullets and bombs is not exactly unheard of, and being young and female describes millions of people.

You don't see how this could be offensive or at the very least cause bad press given the recent bomb attack?

I would delay even a Pokémon or Mario game.

Thread should be called : poster bizarrely thinks delaying a game is bad due to Manchester bombing

Very true. This IS a major event we're talking about though, and the UK just raised their terror level because another attack may be imminent. We aren't exactly talking about a small-scale, isolated shooting/bombing that barely makes the news.

I mean it's good that they're at least showing some foresight and sensitivity. It's not even been a day since the event happened and I sure wouldn't feel comfortable playing a game or watching something with a scene like that right now. The whole world is pretty shaken by what happened and Bamco recognize that it would be inappropriate to release a game that hits that close to home.

Honestly, what is the likelihood that a victim of the Manchester bombings or their loved ones would come across this content and be disturbed by it? What purpose does a delay serve?

Publisher/developer decides to delay the game they created/publishing "out of respect” for the victims and family of a terror attack.
Queue gamers complaining about it.

I fear I may shake my head so hard that I do some permanent damage.

I'm responding to the second thread for this subject, not the first which just reported the news.

They can delay their game for as long as they want and for any reason that they choose and to be honest, it's nobody else's damn business.

You don't have to be a victim or the loved one of a victim to be affected...

Delaying the game hurts no one, not delaying has the potential to hurt people already suffering.

It's almost as if you're suggesting that there are games with exploding school girls that were due to be released this week which haven't been delayed?

How can you be so sure a delay (and only a month at that!) would affect someone who is already going to be sensitive to such content?

Because that creates some distance from the event and it's a reasonable amount of time. I really don't understand why you are making this difficult.

Because I think it's pointless, a month isn't enough time to forget that "oh yeah, a bunch of little girls were bombed a month ago."

It's a "nice" gesture that is ultimately meaningless and will affect no one.

It's called doing it out of respect?

How is this such a foreign concept? A major tragedy happen.. A game that might be in bad taste to be released now (which it might not even be, but they don't want the chance to hurt anyone already suffering) and it get delayed a month from now. Damn.. Who cares if it is delayed. They didn't delay it for any reason but respect.
