'next year for sure' is all i read that as. its not a new problem this was just them seeing how far they could push it. that or 'well we'll just put out less rewards in the next even't

The main issue in all of this imo is the amount of gold you get for dupes. Like only 250 for a duplicate Legendary skin is ridiculous. I get they need to monetize and make money so getting the full 1000 gold is unrealistic, but you should at least get half of the items value

I hate the way loot boxes work. If I'm gonna get 4 dupes, which I do now 60% of the time, let me spend the gold I would get for another spin. You do it in HOTS, do in Overwatch.

Indeed, getting legendary boxes that aren't event related is even worse in some ways.

They're just going to make the game free. If the game is free, then nobody can complain about stuff like lootboxes, right?

They never did anything regarding the loot boxes for the whole year despite people complaining about it. Action speak louder than words Jeff.

It'd be better if they reward you more for dupes and lowered the cost of Event items. Say you get a Legendary Money in your lootbox. Super rare. You need SIX of those to afford ONE Legendary event skin. That's absurd. I feel like lowering the cost of Legendary Event Skins from 3000 to 2000 and doubling the currency you get from dupes would really balance it out.

But they want money so I don't see them flipping on this very easily. I'll still end up buying boxes regardless because I'm crazy.

Not getting duplicates would be amazing, getting not even half but a quarter(1/5th?) of a items value if its a duplicate is just a kick to the nuts.

This!

But i am glad that ppl are finally waking up and voicing their anger and disappointment about this, not just on their forums but everywhere. It looks like things will change in the future. At least i hope so.

There was a lot of negative comments during the summer games, next event they allowed you to buy skins with coins at 3x the cost. Hopefully they make another adjustment, but i agree it's just words now.

"Now introducing Legendary Loot Boxes, one box for 5 dollars will get you a random Rare or higher item." *only available in store, one item in box, seasonal legendary items not included.

The future! I can see it now!

Problem could be partly "fixed" if duplicates would give 50% of their worth in coins, rather than what, 20%?

And getting a duplicate event exclusive skin worth 3k should not give the same amount of coins as a normal legendary skin worth 1k.

Coin drops could also get boosted a little too.

Increase dupe value, allow rerolls, and make more event-agnostic unlocks. There's no good reason why we only have 3 weeks to unlock dancing emotes for our characters.

I'd actually use that often for a shit ass loot box

Something as simple as having 1 of the items guaranteed not to be a dupe would already be an improvement.

It's incredibly unlikely they get rid of dupes. It would completely undermine the idea of buying near infinite amount of lootboxes hoping you get what you wanted.

It's also the main way to get in game currency

Make player icons purchaseable, change event items to only 2x or 1.5x the cost of regular items, make loot box odds slightly better, reduce xp per level by a thousand or two.

Voila

The anniversary event added a ton of trash drops so the problem feels even worse now because you aren't even pulling pulling out 100g in dupes every box. I feel like just adding guaranteed 150g in every box would be nice. So at worst you are getting event skins every 20 boxes. Most people will level or get 20 boxes from an event with regular play.

Yep, testing the limits to see how much bullshit people would be suckered in for.

Keep paying for my free modes and maps, suckers.

Pretty neatly wraps up all the complaints into one easily-ignorable thread while saying they've heard you, are doing nothing right now, but might do something one day.

This is the most "it's fucking nothing" statement I've read in a long time.

Maybe. But without them, people would think Blizzard never read their forums. Everyone know they do, but it seems they need a reminder once in a while with statements saying basically "Yes, we do read you".

I've never missed out on event drops I wanted as long as I played regularly during the event. I usually have enough coins to grab anything that didn't drop, too. Though if they do address lootbox rates, it could only be for the best. They didn't have to acknowledge the complaints either, so while I'm not praising a simple response, it's nice that they positively responded to feedback.

Done with gaming after this Gen.

What an overreaction.

If people who have too much money to spend want to fund new maps and modes for games with loot boxes, that's a win for those of us who don't care about that stuff. Better than season passes and map packs, thats 100% truth.

Never had an issue getting event items if you play consistently..

Sounds like most of you just decide to hop on OW only when events are going on or want every single event item.

The loot boxes were fine at the start. I got a decent amount of skins and would happily pay a bit to try and get the others. Then after Halloween I started getting almost none. Even buying 10 loot boxes and getting zero. After 9 loot boxes this event I've gotten 1 skin. The rate has dropped so low it feels like a waste of money to put any money into it now and I'm less interested because I get fuck all out of the events even if I play every day.

Yep. They advertise the event by promoting the over 100 "new Anniversary items" bullet point but almost a full quarter of those supposedly new things (if we round it down to simply 100 items) are gold recolors of each of the silhouette player icons. I can't say for certain but it looks like every character ALSO gets a playing card spray, so that's another near quarter - but at least those are genuinely new, not just recolors of existing sprays.

No other event has pushed 11 Legendary skins and 24 Epic emotes at once, either. And that doesn't count all of the voice lines (at least one per character, IIRC), sprays (also at least one per character), and the recolored player icons.

I feel like I've gotten less and less event skins with each new event. Summer Games and Halloween? I got almost all of them. After that it started going downhill. I got zero skins in Uprising.

The anniversary event went overboard on the limited time event pattern with amount of things to collect. No surprise there that it is showing some really bad outlook on the game and duplicates start to become more and more of a problem as people have more items over time.

Or in this events case 3000 gold per skin.

All I really want is the option to buy the things I want to buy individually. It's why I will never spend money on this game beyond the base price and possible expansions.

Preventing dupes for event-only loot, or making event dupes give 20% of their upped cost instead of 20% of the normal cost for the rarity, would be a nice start.

Come on dude, it's not that hard to admit you were wrong if even Blizzard are looking to make changes.

Dupes aren't going anywhere because removing them would severely undercut the money they make off people buying lootboxes

Nothing says a company cares about their fanbase like telling them they're not going to change anything and are going to move all the forum complaints into one thread so there's less visibility.
