To me the weakest aspect of it it's everything, from the story to the music to the overworld, lore, characters ect. ect.

Really the weakest FF I've seen in ages. Lacks a core idea and core vision. A random mesh up of visions without a scope.

Not surprising considering Type-0 was equally bad.

Give me "any" Lightning Returns over this shit, really.

XIII-2 was such a shame

If they just developed the original XIII with XIII-2's design improvements in mind, then XIII absolutely wouldn't have been such a divisive title.

I mean the story was still going to be garbage, but assuming they threw in some time for you to actually absorb the environments instead of run down hallways fighting abstract enemy designs for 40 hours, it would have been way easier to digest.

You dudes are so hostile towards Tabata that your appearance would change in his palace. Why the disrespect? Because he finished another man's work? Crying about Versus XIII as if it was actually ever going to come out. They're likely to make a sequel anyway, they'll probably work Stella into some other game.

I'd argue the series has become so unreliable and so inconsistent after FFX because they don't have a successful formula for this series anymore.

From Souls to Persona, Pokemon to COD, If you look at any successful series out there,you always know what to look for and what to expect.

This randomness in design philosophy hasn't actually been working out so well for this series ,and hasn't helped them make games any faster.

I meant setting-wise since the post I was responding to was saying "another car adventure type FF". FFXVI won't have the same "based on reality", road-trip theme as FFXV.

Even folks who enjoyed the game are critical of him, and no need for a sequel that's why getting all that gutted story dlc. People aren't happy that he lied plus he changed all the characters personalities to a degree even Noctis.

He continally misrepresented the game throughout development and then once it was out (and clearly not done) he changed his tune to an almost sociopathic extent. First it was going to be the best story since FFVII, then it was meant to be minimalist. You should compare interviews from before and after.

I don't care at all about interviews. Didn't keep up with the game one bit after the first Versus XIII trailer, which I was ridiculously excited for, left completely satisfied. Gonna get it on PC too.

It's a shame that some people so passionately hate XV

I get genuinely excited when I imagine FFXVI, with gameplay similar to FFXV, except minus the "based on reality" story setting and "weighted and grounded" combat movement that XV was based on.

I mean if FFXVI is even as "fantasy" as FF8 was (gunblades, chain whips, punchy guy, shotguns) then you're basically looking at Dissida -- the RPG, except with significantly better visuals and scope

XIII-2 is basically modern Chrono Trigger. I absolutely loved it. The only downside was the combat was too easy (even though I absolutely loved the combat), but they remedied that with the awesome DLC battles.

Oh and that ENDING. One of my favorite FF's.

I mean, you asked why people aren't too hot on Tabata. I think part of it is he's a pretty blatant snake oil salesman/opportunist. His games prior to FFXV aren't particularly good either, and that's putting it mildly.

I didn't care too much for Crono Trigger.

DQ7 has better game play (due to classes) and better story (all the short stories).

The idea that Tabata, regardless of his actual skills or not is some master manipulator gleefully ruining other peoples work or some arrogant narcissist is so bizarre. To the point people accuse him talking about his daughter missing him during development as some dastardly scheme get sympathy

The man never looks like anything but ready to keel over from the stress,

Combat in XV was nothing to write home about considering its buzz started with the fact that it was going to be done by the combat team of KH. I personally hoped for an evolution of and to top KH2's amazing gameplay. Comparing the two really shows how underwhelming XV's was.

I hope not. I say that as someone who has no problem with Final Fantasy as an ARPG.

XV's combat was amusing but I wouldn't want to see another game use that as a blueprint.

I am curious to see how VIIR's combat turns out. In theory, it seems more appealing to me.

Well have fun crying about the game that didn't and won't ever come out and keep holding someone to that standard for no other reason than you want to. Guess what. People say shit all the time. Doesn't mean they can always make good on it. He probably tried to deliver what he intended but couldn't. I'm glad he didn't because I love the game we got.

Looks like a worldwide launch paid off for them so they could say a piece of news like this. Hopefully they start to consider it for their future releases.

Even though the game sucked, hopefully they can take away that lesson when planning more launches.

They basically are for there bigger titles so expect future Final Fantasys and Kingdom Hearts to have launch WW.
