Looks poor graphically. If I end up buying a Switch this year I'll still get MHXX for it. I hope they do some major graphical work for the next instalment though.

Still looks like a PS2 game in 1080p. They improved the shadow quality a bit and increased the resolution but that's about it, doesn't look that much better than what people get from using Citra with 3DS roms.

Edit: They seem to have increased the texturequality and added some Anti Aliasing though.

It's always amazing to see CAPCOM doesn't give a shit. Parts of the HUD are pixelated on the 1080p Switch port of Monster Hunter XX, whereas they managed to create a proper high resolution 1080p HUD on Wii U in 2012.

MH3U Wii U 1080p:

I hope this supports USB keyboard like on Wii & Wii U and that it runs at 60fps. Otherwise it's a very lazy port.

The only improvement I see is that font size was increased and should now be easily legible - this was a big issue on MH3U Wii U.

Do saves transfer from Generations on 3DS to XX on switch? Because the gaijin hunter video only mentioned XX to switch XX.

If this game makes 2017 in the west Switch would have a memorable first year. Will gladly buy a MH Switch bundle come fall or winter.

No, that's not going to happen since generations and X or XX are, despite being the same game 2 different incompatible games due to licensing issues for certain weapons and armours.
(if you're talking about generations as in the non-japanese version and XX as in the japanese version ofc)

Honestly, I'm glad I'd already bought my Switch. This thing is gonna be impossible to find come the holidays, even moreso than now.

Looks beautiful! System seller for me. Hopefully the Switch hardware issues are sorted by the time this comes to the west.

Yup
If the rumored is true and the MH5 Sony deal is real e3 is the right moment to announce it being aimed at Western market

We didn't hear anything about the rumor since october (and january when the old rumor was circulating on twitter again).
But for the love of god, meaningless which console it comes top, I hope they don't change the gameplay for the western market. Tweak the current formula till it is perfect.
The last 5 (or even more) games Capcom designed for the western audiences were all horrible and often bombs sales wise.

Man it just struck me that Nintendo has locked down the MH franchise to their systems since the Wii. It's been 2 generations and like 4 systems now MH is finally on a system that makes PERFECT sense for it.

You have to pay for online.

Sweet. I kinda held back on Generations, so when this version hits the West, it'll be perfect for me.

By the time of release Nintendos online app and Co. should be ready... Actually this should all be in place for Splatoon 2 already. So I hope the online experience will be more streamlined on Switch compared to 3DS.

It occurs to me that this timing on the Japanese release has to be in part to get the game out there before Nintendo's change to its online model can potentially become a barrier of entry. Have people already playing who'll put up with the new subscription model to keep playing, and thus, normalize it. Meanwhile anyone who plays in local groups doesn't have to change at all.

Could this finally be my time to bite the bullet and finally master the gunner weapons? I've always been so turned off having to wrestle with the 3DS controls to aim around, it was just never fun to me and I skip them entirely. Will it actually control something like a regular duel-stick console 3rd-person shooter now? or will it be like 3U again where the right analog stick doesn't even behave like an analog stick...

As for localization, the Switch is hot fire right now, and owners and dying for games and even obscure titles get pretty huge attach rates. I wouldn't be surprised by a global release for this, it would be quite a bandwagon to miss.

I don't think the game is already finished. Developers will probably fix such minor issues. That's said... Capcom games are often not very polished anyway.

My first and only MH was 3 Ultimate (on an old 3ds, without the additional pad) I think, I tried and tried to get into it but it never really clicked, and even then the amount of equipment, options, food and other shitfrom the get-go was way too intimidating to me.

I'm still really interested in the concept, but at this point, it just feels way too late for me to join into the fun, sadly.

The multiplayer crossplay does sound really cool though, that will surely help the Switch version a ton.

OMG Capcom, it's time to update the animations some day. I see some animations in the trailer that already were there in the PS2 games. It's surprising that after all these games and platforms are still there xDD.

Capcom is the master of "recycling" stuff: Mega Man, Morrigan's sprite....

The first special edition hardware no less.

kinda shows how much Nintendo cares about the franchise. When we think back to the Wii, Mh Tri was pretty much responsible for the introduction of the Classic controller pro, and with the 3ds mh3gu introduced the circle pad pro. And I'm sure there was also some kind of first on WiiU. It's like Nintendo is willing to go the extra mile just for this franchise - and that's also why I don't believe any of those Ps4 rumours.

This is a port of a 3DS game. The animations weren't going to get an update just because they're releasing it on the Switch.

What's crazy for me is the family and I imported and fully enjoyed Cross before buying the NA version. Now Double Cross... third times the charm I guess lol. Switch version = ultimate version. Can't wait.

Honestly? The Wii U version was a much more welcoming experience, since you could use the gamepad to mitigate much of the usual feature management. Plus, having an actual second stick for the camera, better than the 3DS' touchscreen solution.

I was put off from Monster Hunter by the 3DS demo, it was the game itself on Wii U that converted me to a fan.

I just realized "Nintendo Switch Ver." is actually part of the title and they even put it on the box art, which seems super weird and unnecessarily at first, but it gives me the feeling that they are going to add some extra bits of content to this version. What do you think? Are we in for some goofy joke weapon "Switch Axe"? A super low defense t-shirt like Link got for his DLC?

This game looks so grody. This has to be the last time they can get away with making a Monhun that looks like a PS2 game.
