The DS remakes which piggybacked on the last several mainline games which also did poorly. You know damn well those remakes weren't the only reason the series was doing poorly, just as you know it's insane to expect remakes of old ass games to do anywhere close to what the last 2 mainline games have done. A remake not selling over a million like the last 2 games have done, does not mean it's a failure.

I totally get that too. there are plenty of legit complaints that can be made for Awakening and Fates. It's sort of the shunning and gatekeeping that becomes a problem.
And people should go get Echoes too. It's a good remake of the 2nd game in the series, and it's also a Kaga designed and written game. No excuses for even the old guard fans to not get it. The character designs are tastefully done by Hidari. The outfits are not outlandishly done like Kozaki's art from Awakening or Fates, but more practical and like a modern update of the older look the series is well known for.

I love older Fire Emblem and I love Fates but everything related to characters in Fates makes me cringe
Wellll i was kind of expecting this.
But, i really hope that other than awakening, and heroes they will not grab this kind of "content" to other mainline FE.
At least not on the main content of the game.
They can make shit tons of dlc for people that enjoy this things, but not on the main game please.

I'm surprised how much people hate Shadow Dragon. It was my first exposure to Fire Emblem and I think it was good. Maybe it's good for me for starting at the bottom.
I remember that no one in Japan even knows who Ike even is too lol.

Well, now you all know how I felt when they shoehorned Eirika into this class in the Awakening DLC.

I've been waiting for missing Awakening/Fates characters like Flora, Selkie or Gregor to be added before giving the game one final shot, but instead it's just fanservice outfits and weekly GameFAQs-style voting competitions. If they want to start raking money in off the fanservice they should at least get all major characters in the game first.

It's not necessarily a bad game. It's just very ugly and took away a lot of the charm previous games had which were it's characters. No support conversations. SD had a ton of throw away cast members and it had somthing very un-Fire Emblem. Only way to get side quest was to literally kill of your team to less then 15 each time.
I thought the gameplay was fine and had a lot of replay value.
It's story is really simple, not bad or good. Mostly serviceable, could've made it better or add more to it as it was very minimal (it's been a while, can't really remember much the story aside main points)

And Roy is decently popular outside of smash in japan I heard... for some reason

But yeah, Roy is pretty popular in Japan. IIRC Binding Blade sold rather well there. I actually hope we get a Binding Blade Echoes title like the Director wants cause I want it localized and I want to play it.

I was referring solely to Roy in the west. No actual FE game and he's super popular. I remember if you read a FAQ about any upcoming Fire Emblem, the first question would always be "is Marth/Roy in this game?"
That always made me laugh, because I always wanted Roy to appear. Then I finally played his game and realized he's the most generic Fire Emblem lord. Chrom has 10 times more personality then Roy.
His battle animations were amazing tho, so he wins.

With the rate they slowly drip these characters it might take a year+ for regular Charlotte to be an actual unit in the game files.

That's me! The number 1 Roy boy. Despite him being boring I still like him a lot and main him in Smash (though I have none of the DLC in Smash 4 cause money :< ).
I mean, I played PoR and I couldn't even tell you what Ike wanted to do except fight for his friends.
