LEGO |OT6| We Only Build in Black. And Sometimes Very Dark Grey.

Do you recommend it?

Yes! It is an amazing set. I do prefer full ships to a ghost ship (I have both Pearl and Revenge) but the complexity of this build is really something. The are no big parts, everything is done with crazy angled connections.

But once completed I see why people says its is fragile. There is no good way to hand it for moving it. Switching places is a chore.

Now I have to find a good place to display it. I wasn't expecting it to be of that size, the place I planned to use don't fit it. I do not want to place on the top of a shelf, no one woul see the details, the boat and the sharks.

My set is missing a piece and 2 other pieces were the wrong color.

How do I go about correcting this. I'm guessing this is common in the less expensive sets?

Flip the ribs up and put your hand under to carry it.
And glad you loved it too.

Congrats on the Silent Mary! Everyone needs this set, its so great on display. Yea the fragility is a bummer, its not a playset at all. Once you have it displayed its like don't touch or try and move it. If you are looking for a display place it definitely needs to be on a bookshelf or if you have an aquarium it would look pretty cool in that.

Lego is awesome about this. Just fill out this form and they will send you the parts in like a couple weeks.

I think the ribs are the weakest link on this build. They are really cool, but the ship was a solid build until they are added.

Also the front clear stand pole. The ship looks great with the front hull closed, but as soon as you open it to look like the movie the pole stands out and the whole ship looks wrong.

On a related thing after building it I am wondering if it is possible to build an huge ship (not a ghost ship) with this technic, without using hull parts (that limit the size and depth of the ship). MOC wondering...

Hmm. Seems Target will have a version of LEGO Batman Movie with exclusive Batgirl mini figure included. At least I think it is exclusive. Only just seeing this now.

Based on pictures, I can't tell what's unique about it compared to other Batgirl figs.

I saw that and preordered it last week. I'm not positive but either its not really exclusive (as in get your TLBM here exclusively with a fig bullshit) or the face print may be unique like how theres a lot of jokers with slight face print differences.

Same figure as the Catwoman motorcycle chase i think. I had gotten that for her, Robin and Catwoman heh. Not bad for 15. And it was actually on clearance for 7 at Costco recently

8 down. 4 more to go. Then 12 of the other decorative part.
I both love and loathe the repetition in sets like this. The repetition gets old, but the results of it look so damn good.

Edit: And I was sure to put the mirror stickers on the round tiles before the alcohol hit too hard.

I don't think I've ever had a missing piece in five years of heavy Lego collecting. Good thing their customer support is awesome, but it's 94% likely that the parts are either stuck in a bag or that you used the wrong colour somewhere else.

Now, shipping issues are another thing.

Dat Carousel!

So much repetition at the end of it all, but that is a necessary evil in sets like this to get such awesome results.

It seems like June 1st is the day of Psiaki this year. Two sets (Carousel and Saturn V) that you are building more round constructions and achieving it through clips and SNOT work that restrict motion on parts to pull off the rounded surfaces. Heck, even adding the final touches of the SNOT work with the light blue horn pieces on the end, the range of motion gets limited so much that it is almost impossible to mess it up.
It is like the opposite of Big Ben. You don't have to be so meticulous in lining up smaller parts because the pieces around them make sure they won't move from where they need to be.

Jamie Berard's strength is in using parts in weird and unique ways that make you question how you've been building for a long time.
Marcos Bessa excels at the smaller micro builds and mini fig scale details that add character.
Mike Psiaki seems to excel at weird clip and hinge SNOT use to pull off curves and weird shapes with limited range of movement.

Just masterful work on the Carousel. It makes me want to order a bunch of certain parts of this in darker shades to make some evil, haunted version.

Certainly won't rule it out. I did look through the bag and around the area lots. Also through the manual for the mismatched colors.

They also gave me like 10 extra parts.

Pretty sure I'm missing a flat technic piece from the Saturn V. Only used for the stands so I've replaced it with a black one I have spare, but it is unusual. I have quite a few of the small 1x1 pieces collected over the course of a few sets as they usually err on the side of caution for those ones.

Whoa, the first bag of Saturn V! Fascinating how the structure keeps alternating between being unstable/fiddly and stable/solid. The last join feels precarious but I can see how the second wall will give it stability. Also, I liked that they gave the three "stabilising" tile layers different constructions. Keeps things varied.

Just wait for how those gold rod pieces stabilize things.

How's the build on Captain Rex's AT-TE? One of my local stores dropped it to $30. Might stash it for a birthday present as my son has expressed interest previously. I quite frankly have no idea what part of the Star Wars universe it's from.

The advantage of having a LEGO OCD-like manners (like ... uh ... the 1x1 round tiles used as door knobs need to have the LEGO logo alligned horizontally) is that the clips were nicely aligned. At least on my minibuilds. As I shared the build, there were some that were a little off ... and the final step using them was a lot more frustrating on those :D A little force helped to straighten them and the part snap in.

I can imagine the cursing if one would find out that he put them them rotated by 90 degrees only once the time to use them came. :D

Currently Saturn V is the set of the year for me. Even the Falcon won't change that. I just hope that LEGO will understand there is desire for such sets and do some UCS Lander and Space Shuttle (or at least the Technic Space Shuttle revival)

One strange thing, I see that all the curved slopes with US flag have little different aligment between the red and blue print on all 4 in the set. I'd expect it to be from one series...

Done with bag 3 too. The 4 x 12 plates under the flag pieces ended up with a little bit of an outward curve, had to take them off and fix them. The white pieces used to join down the middle were cool.

Will take a break now, I want to take my time with this set.

It's from Rebels season 2.

For that price, it's a steal I think, though I haven't got it myself. Isn't it usually 100 dollars or more?

It's usually like 130 EURO, and 30 dollars is what? 25 euro? Isn't that like more than 80% off or so? Ugh i'd buy 5 of them in a heartbeat

Can't see anything topping Saturn V for set of the year for me either. Tiny niggles : top fairing could have been hinged with a second lunar module inside, and I'd have liked the tops of stages 1&2 to have bulkheads. Bonus points for interstage sections but not essential.

I just saw the $30 creator Space Shuttle Explorer at LEGO.

The alt builds look as good as the main build. This may be the Vacation Getaways of 2017.

That is out now??? It was originally scheduled for August.

Just checked, and it was released today on S@H.

I know what I'm picking up on Thursday along with the Saturn V.

Oh shit I can't believe I completely forgot about that set. I blame Lego revealing this stuff really early and then holding it back for months and people forgetting about it.

Well shit, it looks like i'm not going to make that middle of the month purchase for that Lego tote bag or the Ultimate Batmobile or Carousel. I'm pushing $200 now for my 1st of the month order. I guess I could sell off my Haunted House to fund the new sets.
i'm joking, please don't pm me with offers people :)

I was shocked too. LEGO store employees said they got a ton of new creator stuff. I saw the new modular houses there as well. I assume the whole wave was pushed up.

I'm grabbing Explorer with the Saturn V.

Also, you said Thursday but the Saturn V is out Wednesday. My store said they're expecting it to be gone by 2pm.

Just checked with my local store, and they are saying Thursday June 1st.

S@H is also saying June 1st.

Shit, the jet is retired in Sweden. Can get one from Webhallen(they have 2 left in another city) for 49.28€...

Anyone tried 31062, 31058 or 31049?

Robo Explorer and Mighty Dinosaurs are great sets as well, and should be readily available since they released in January. I have yet to get Twin Spin Helicopter though.

For me the LEGO addiction seems to have gone Star Wars-DC/Batman-Creator and probably City in the future if a good set drops. :p

This one reminds me of a Brainiac set. Was there ever a Skullship set?

Edit: Shit, the Bane set is out, isn't it? Does anyone know how good his big fig is?
