If I wanted to be overly analytical, I'd point out two things with this image:

h1LFT5A.png

One, the shadows underneath toon link don't quite match up. The shadow of the top right screen is further to the right than it is on the bottom left screen.

Secondly, and this one really stands out more than anything, but shouldn't there be a (2P ->) symbol on the right side of the bottom left screen? Usually in smash if something is just off screen there is something to show this. Either a simply icon marker with an arrow, or in some cases a full circle with a fully animated small model of the character that is just off screen.

Also parts of Ness (Like his backpack) should be on the screen.

The models are the only thing giving me any real pause.

Regardless, I have been waiting for the 4chan leaks. You know it's nearly E3 time when they emerge.

They only thing? What about the Japanese version of the game calling him Bowser Jr instead of Koopa Jr?

What if the Smash 4 Switch is using the 3DS models as a basis? What if the 3DS models were higher contrast on purpose for being on smaller screen, which is the case with the Switch?

WHAT IF

Smash Switch uses 3DS models in portable mode and Wii U models in Docked

and these screenshots were taken in portable mode

What about Break the Target screenshot, the model look different when you compare the quality. Is Yoshi's model from Wii U?

Then why not use those lower-bone-count models from 8-Player Smash for the port? Why downgrade that far if the system is more powerful than the Wii U in every regard?

Well I can imagine splitscreen 4 way smash run would end up much more intensive than 8 player smash which they couldn't even make all content available in the first place.

I figure Smash 4 Deluxe will happen, but there are strange issues with these screens that tell me this isn't legitimate.

For starters, the source claims these images are for a Japanese magazine. If so, why is Junior labeled "Bowser Jr."? However, the updated Paper Mario stage is a point in its favor.

Next, while the Pikachu screen looks alright overall, something about that HUD icon in the top left just looks off to me. I can't quite articulate what it is though...

The Ness screen looks okay too, with the exception of the hilariously poor Koffing model. Also, note the Monoeye's position.

The Tink screen, again, seems fine, but note that same Monoeye. Judging by the two screens and their apparent split screen nature, I believe this particular shot would be impossible, as it seems that the Monoeye is in slightly different locations on Tink and Ness's screens.

The Luigi screen looks strange to me. Did the 3DS version have such extreme dithering in the background?

The Yoshi screen is odd, because neither Yoshi nor his Egg cast a shadow on the platform just below them.

Finally, the Megaman/Mario shot looks fine, but something's off about the stat items and especially the Mites. Again, I can't really articulate what bugs me about them...

All in all, it's probably not legitimate, but I fully expect Smash at E3 regardless.

there's something off about the pictures, it's hard to say what's wrong with it, but there's something that's off.

I don't know what to believe anymore.
Though the lack of any new Fire Emblem characters in these screens leads me to believe it's fake, my logic is perfect.

Could easily be 3DS emulation screens that have been edited.

I feel that a port of 4 3DS/Wii U with elements of both is obvious at this point though.

that's what I was thinking, but apparently Citra can't really run Smash yet

I still thin this is fake tho

.. So I only now discovered the old Rayman video here - what a completely ridiculous amount of attention to detail the guy puts into it. Curious kind of fan engagement - it must really be something else for the original content creators to just sit and watch these things happen (Sakurai and his teams, I suppose). I thought these new screens looked very believable initially, but when these kinds of efforts happen - I guess anything is really possible, lol.

Probably fake. It might be a little soon for a proper sequel, but I really wouldn't be surprised to see Smash 4 hit Switch. I think none of us would be.

You know, whether are real or not, that's exactly what I expected. Just remake the 3DS stages and throw them in for the most complete version of the game ever.

Man if this is fake in the end, he put so much work into it he should have gone the extra mile and put the ice climbers or something.
I cant get hyped if this is real.

If this is real I hope Nintendo releases it like towards the end of the holidays or next year as it may cut the legs of ARMS.

In fact I feel this year is already stuffed with enough first party titles and should leave some for next year.

This looks and feels EXCEEDINGLY real to me

If nothing else, it's great imagination fodder for what a Smash Switch could be like

I'm realizing that if Nintendo ports to the switch every single good Wii U game they'll become as gods. And I hope they do so.

This is exactly what was rumored last year

Bandai Namco leaked that info I believe

It's going to be next year.

It's hard to compare this as other players don't show up in 3DS smash run at all. That could be an entirely mechanical change though.

Assuming Stars is real, I'd imagine that that would be this year while Smash may slip into early next year. This would not only give ARMS some breathing room, but put some space between it & the plethora of other fighting games coming out this year (MvCI, Injustice 2, Tekken 7, ARMS, GGXrd: REV 2, etc.)

I could see the game having different character models for docked and undocked to keep the frame rate as high as possible during online and local multiplayer modes but idk if these are real or not

I'd love to see that Paper Mario stage make it into smash

But would Nintendo really be concerned when most of that list won't be on Switch?

Damn it, got excited before reading the thread.

I do think Smash 4 is coming for the Switch in the near future, but don't want to expect it and be disappointed if it's not at E3 and/or is released in 2018.

seems a bit too elaborate for a fake but there was also a 3D printed fake so i dont doubt the powers of the internet and the extent one would go to fake something for some attention.

I want to believe.

His source wasn't rumored to be anything. As always with these sort of rumors they're individuals either close to Nintendo or within Nintendo.

Also, the ESRB leaks came from 4chan (which lead to the above) and i think people are forgetting

No one is forgetting, but I think you have to remember that was also recorded footage and not an array of screenshots.

I've seen some people suggesting that the character models would change between Docked and Portable mode. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't that require the game to unload the HD models and reload the SD models? If so, that would spit in the face of the Switch's instant conversion shtick.

Went into Smash run and made some comparison images. Looks like some improvements were made to the stage all around. Some parts have better foilage and the theres some poles on the end of the stages in the first comparison pic

more foilage, leafs added on the rocks

Is it possible that for 4-player "run" or whatever it switches to the 3DS model for performance purposes?

That's a decent theory and all but the top screenshot which looks like a normal 1 vs 1 smash is also using odd character models which look worse than the Wii U's models.

there's something off about the pictures, it's hard to say what's wrong with it, but there's something that's off.

>team fake<

The colors look very odd to me. Either it's a photo of a screen/magazine/printout or it's just been subjected to some strange color filtering.

Either way it's pretty certainly fake. Nice high effort fake though.
