Hearthstone |OT9| Our raid wiped in Icecrown Citadel

and umm, what would be the point of playing that card? I mean, the incentive is to play cards, not to keep them in hand as long as you can. It kinda defeats the point of the game

In true Control Warrior fashion, you play it on turn 40 when there's nothing left to hit it.

Haven't played Hs since the last single player expansion. Any good deck advise for someone wanting to come back into the game? I always liked priest the most
This is the best advice I've seen for Priests:

the cheapest viable deck is hunter

if you like priest, there are 2, maybe 3 viable priest decks floating around - including, and i'm not kidding, silence/purify priest

Priest has gotten a lot of good cards since One Knight in Karazhan

It's even stronger than patches. You actually have to pay mana to get patches on the board. You have to pay a card. Even though it's half a card technically and like 1 mana off the cost of the minion you play to summon it.

Imagine going up against hunter. They play alley cat. Your turn it dies despite you paying no resources. You've basically already won the game without spending anything.

It's a pretty interesting twist to have a card you're not supposed to play.

It could also be an understatted minion (or just a spell) that adds an overstatted minion to your hand with an "in hand" effect so you'd have to make the decision between keeping the effect or playing the powerful minion.

So for example a 3 mana spell "Add Johnson to your hand". Johnson: 2 mana 5/5 "If this is in your hand at the end of your turn, do X."

I like it being a understated minion with a neutral ability, so you get into situations where you have to decide to give up tempo and flexibility or take the hit of your ability working against you.

Unfortunately, there's probably not many truly neutral effects when aggro and control both want very different things, which makes it a very difficult thing to balance.

What decks did people use to hit legend this month? I've stalled out and rank 1 with quest warrior and it's frustrating as all hell

Pirate warrior.

Ironically I found that I lost very few times against quest warriors. With so many taunts anyone would assume they could block a PW extremely easily, but I just finished them before turn 7.

I also tried token druid and it was really good, but I need to get better at managing that deck

This is still mind-blowing to me. I had almost the "standard" pirate warrior deck and dealt lethal before turn 7 quite rarely when I was keeping statistics, but I guess Leeroy would make a significant difference. There was simply so much healing/taunt/removal around rank 10 it was difficult.

I did finally earn enough dust to craft a bittertide hydra, so I want to try a variant of your deck.

I don't have leeroy either, and the reason I didn't want him there was exactly because of those taunts, I would often use my own reckless rocketeer to clear some taunt and then hit more face. Leeroy would leave 2 more bodies to clear my own other pirates.

also, on those matches I found the early game fundamental, but southsea captain just superb.

EDIT: bittertide hydra just destroys them unless they have an execute, and funny enough they use them on the captain a lot. for some reason, the ones I played didn't run sleep with the fishes, or at least didn't draw one.

If you got to rank 1, you can hit legend.

That's the hope. Also, I have a pretty good win rate against PW so I don't mind seeing them. But I see far more quest rogues than PW"s and I have about a 0% win rate against them. I took one to fatigues one time and won which was amazing but other than that it's an instant loss

It's not an easy matchup but if you are playing against Quest Rogue you need to play fast...not slow. Maybe even throw the quest out of your opening hand because it is not really going to help anyways. Look for Dirty Rat/Bloodhoof/Direhorn and do what you can with them.

That's normally what I do, but I've actually started keeping it as the only time I seem to win is when I push enough damage with minions and rag hits to win. I don't run dirty rat but i definitely enjoy pulling Medivh out of a mages hand so I've considered putting it back in.

I did it

I did it again!

I've almost got every major Epics and Legendaries in every expansion without spending money and without dusting any cards I have. Ungoro was no different for me, even though it has way more major Epics and Legendaries among other HS expansions.

( I dont have warrior quest because I found it boring so I crafted mage quest instead ;)

I just didn't have any motivation to try to get to legend, since it's going to set me down to rank 16 when the season turns over anyway

what's the point? I'll just start at 17 or whatever, and play whatever deck I feel like playing in the meantime

Too OP in Warrior.

Execute, Sleep With the Fishes, Acolyte, Armorsmith, even King Mosh. Synergies are too strong.

Yeah... I made the card kinda just wishing Blizzard would print more impactful/interesting "while this is in your hand" cards. The only shitty Paladin Legendary is not one of them and I figured Control Warrior could also use some help.

Just think about all the things you can't counterplay already. Adding any more "while this is in your hand" would be even worse -- free value from hand, literally impossible to counterplay besides Dirty Rat.

Priest is in a good place right now. Warlock is the dead class right now which is something no one would of said for like the last 3 expansions. I decided to try something new this month and that was Jade Druid (never played it when it was actually popular). It's actually pretty fun. I still don't know wtf I'm doing but I got to 5.

It seem that the community is dead silent right now, will probably continue until the next expansion.
A lot of classes are viable right now and my only two issues with the game right now are:
1-RNG in mage decks.
2-Taunt warrior RNG hero power that decides games with a push of a button.

I personally had no motivation anymore, just doing daily quest,

I loathe aggro druid. There's a couple too many unbeatable draws with that deck and living mana and bittertide hydra gives them too good a way to recover if you manage to deal with their first wave of aggression.

How would more non-counterplay cards improve the game? Wouldn't that emphasize the RNG further by making your initial draws even more important?

I mean more counterplay cards so that they can open up design space for cards like the one I posted (albeit more tuned).

Oh, fair enough. I was thinking they could introduce more counterplay cards in a new set, though that has the side effect of making people buy the new cards to stay competitive against the new cards. I imagine Blizzard wouldn't mind that. :p

So I've just popped into Arena for the first time in probably 12 months this morning and Vicious Fledgling has single handedly won me 2-3 games now. It's obviously a really good card in constructed as well but add in the lack of removal in Arena and it can be an absolute monster.

Deck (below) is quite slow and indeed my only loss so far was to a Mage deck that had me at 15hp in the first 5-6 turns as I couldn't get on the board. If I get to mid-game in a decent spot though it seems to just crush.

Arcane Anomaly
Babbling Book
Faerie Dragon
Flame Geyser
Stubborn Gastropod
Sunfury Protector
Earthen Ring Farseer
Ironfur Grizzly
Stonehill Defender
Twilight Flamecaller
Vicious Fledgling
Bright-Eyed Scout
Dark Iron Dwarf
Fire Plume Phoenix x2
Hozen Healer
Tol'vir Stoneshaper
Violet Teacher
Bomb Squad
Elise the Trailblazer
Servant of Kalimos
Silver Hand Recruit
Blizzard
Meteor
Blazecaller
Firelands Portal
Volcanosaur x2
Primordial Drake
Ultrasaur

Priest looks like it might be getting close to a tier 1 deck.

The Lyra stuff really makes that deck roll sometimes. It is really good sometimes and more often than not it's really strong. Even when its bad, you still get something that is generally usable. The value from that card is pretty insane.

It's just plain fun to do a Lyra turn also. Best legendary.

Sometimes you can probably eek out a win even against a class you do poorly against with a high roll.

I do have enough dust to craft a legendary now, might just ride it out until the end of the expansion to see what ends up dropping for me.

I wonder about next expansion. I'm completely dry of dust and haven't started saving up yet. W/o hall of fame there's no way I'm getting any amount of dust ready f2p.I'm still looking to craft Elize and possibly pyros from ungoro and am lacking Antonidas still.

The RNG on this brawl is frustrating.

The last guy I played dropped an Archmage on turn 2, Pyros turn 3, Kazakus potion and stone Giants turn 4.

I had Keepers of the Grove that weren't even discounted...

The thing you did wrong here was not conceding on turn 2. Seriously. This brawl is easy to farm wins with because you just concede early until you get an insane start and then your opponent concedes early. 5 min games should be the norm.
